Divis dvr cards?
griffonsystems replied to jonl102765's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
what software version for divis are you using, what board and what are the hardware specs for the box you put these cards in? thx pg -
ok i have a client that started out with just 1 kbd300 and 3 spectra3s.. they now have 8 spectra3/4 and moving to 20 spec4s by year end and have 6 kbd300a keyboards looking to jump up to a solution for just the data (the cams go into multiple dvrs not pelco) to run what they have today and be able to expand when needed -- they want to control with the keyboard not the dvrs talked with pelco direct and have had 2 ways of going about it so thought i'd throw it out and see what everyone would recommend thanks pg

Mobotix Q22 IP camera?
griffonsystems replied to basia's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
it covers a diameter of 30feet when mounted on the ceiling and you can then zoom in after the fact digitally - i will be installing my first one next month so ill let you know how it goes - but from the demos ive seen its impressive you can view it in quad layout and set the zoom on each -- so if you want a tigher zoom on the door you can do that and then have a wider shot for the register, etc -

check out mobotix - megapixel ip no need for housing for cameras all are ip65 rated for outdoor - they put them on weather towers in alaska they can stream right to a nas so no need for a nvr or application server just a storage server and all the cameras are poe ive started installing them this year and im hooked pg -
3 cameras across 130' of parking lot
griffonsystems replied to Tesseract's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
if you are going wireless go digital (ip cameras)... i have done several analog wireless and you will get a picture but you will also get interference - snow, grainy pic, etc -- ill take a clear picture with less frame rate over high frame rate and crap picture any day if you have line of sight go with 5.8GHz, if you don't go 900mHz - avalan has a nice product that shouldn't kill ur budget my 2cents after 5 years of hanging onto analog solutions I going more Megapixel IP these days, but not completely -

you cant connect a 24vac power supply then run 18-2 wire to the housing and then jump from the housing to the camera thru the housings board? -
raytec (raymax) but they arent cheap
-
its my opinion that IR cant be done cheap (less than $200/camera) and any camera that has the IR lights already mounted in the camera are garbage - these cheap domes and bullet cams with the IR lights surrounding the lens will give you maybe 15ft of coverage but never very good... you need IR separate from the camera and you need true day/night cameras someone feel free to prove me wrong with pictures if you do go cheap find tight shots - front door, garage door all covering 10ft squares of view not large areas like a backyard etc cheers pg

i'm looking at avalan for their 900mhz(non line of sight) and 5.8ghz units(line of sight) the radios only use 1.5watts so if ur looking at solar for power might be a good one to look at

IQinvision around $900 for their 1.3MP camera without lens and Mobotix 3mp for $998 retail with lens - i'll take the mobotix and the free management software.. i'll also bet that a 3mp camera scaling down to 1mp has a better image than a 1mp camera -- i havnt tested but i also like the ability to jump to 3mp when needed... they will also take snapshots at 3mp - or whatever res you want on event or time while also recording at a lower resolution why buy a Ferrari if your not going to drive 225mph all the time? same argument uve thrown out there

check the bnc on the dvr end first before u go up on the roof, maybe it got loose or some of the braid has found its way on the center conductor but if the heater has quit on that housing you need to get it fixed soon with the winter

IP Video storage
griffonsystems replied to griffonsystems's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
the knock ive heard on buffalo is that when they lose power and then regain power they wont restart on their own you have to physically turn the switch back on -
Mulitple cameras over fiber
griffonsystems replied to protecvideo's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
i would also back american fibertek, i'd stay away from ge fiber, never had success with their stuff - i have a data fibercard still gettting repaired from them and its been weeks the key to multiple cameras over one fiber is termination, u have to terminate perfect so you have minimal data loss, hire out someone thats done a lot my 2cents -
mobotix. checkout the m12 for day and night.. run it back via cat5e to your home router - buy the poe injector that plugs into the wall to power the camera. if you use comcast they give you a static ip with your cable modem. you can put a 16gb sd card in the camera and it will store video on the camera - depending on your settings you can get from 1 day to a week. you can set the camera to email you a 10second clip of the event - motion - 1 camera that can email you video of someone at your door... if you want to move beyond that you can have the door bell trigger the recording instead of motion but motion will be fine... also the camera has 2 way audio built in so now you can talk to the person from you office at your front door and hear what they have to say - sounds fun right

how can i have onscreen temperature display?
griffonsystems replied to alpine0000's topic in General Digital Discussion
the mobotix are ip only and the temp displayed is a temp sensor on the camera thats a few degrees off of external temp - sorry i think the way i said it originally it sounded like the temp of the board or processor or something -
how can i have onscreen temperature display?
griffonsystems replied to alpine0000's topic in General Digital Discussion
mobotix megapixel cams have an internal temp that can be displayed - no need to do any text overlay, temp integration etc -easy also you can set an event based on temp.. so if temp goes above or below send an email, etc -

Help me prevent weekly 13 minute burglary shopping sprees
griffonsystems replied to cctv_seeker's topic in System Design
you wont be able to program the camera using specos dvr you will have to buy a joystick/keyboard from pano to do that i would see if you can test the pano autotrack ptz on your house before you purchase if you can find a pano mfg rep in your area... autotracking is not easy and in my opinion doesnt work 80% of the time - but you have picked the best autotracking camera out there
