Need an IP CCTV solution
griffonsystems replied to in_ur_cctv's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
that ebay one is crap.. if you are going to get something cheap at least get it from a brand name you have heard of before...the ir illumator will have to be mounted outside as well so your better off just putting up a normal light.. for a ptz with ir that is ip you are well into the $2k range -

http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-electronics/shop/Computers-Networking/Network-Cameras/PetCams/model.BL-C10A_11002_7000000000000005702 checkout this ip home cam from panasonic and then goto milestone and download the free 1 camera license - this is probably the cheapest but good ptz that will do what ur looking to do but the vision at night isnt going to happen cheap unless you just keep a light on outside... when you want to see at night you need ir illuminator to light up the area and then you will need a cam that can take advantage of the ir and that would require you to mount it outside it wont work through a window theres a 200buck solution. go get em -

you might want to checkout that solution from videofied - its battery powered and will send the video to you via cell line... but then you gotta guess right on the location of the shot... hmm i like the photo beam idea -

Camera question from someone who doesn't know much
griffonsystems replied to osmanm's topic in Security Cameras
with the sun you need to go with a camera that has wdr - wide dynamic range to compensate for the bright light coming in the window and the indoor light.. go with a 4-8mm varifocal lens and look into panasonic - i think they make the best cams for this application but they arent going to be less than 300bucks..wvcp484 i think is the part on the one i go with ganz/computar also makes a decent wdr camera that is a bit cheaper my2cents pg -

i was really impressed with the megapixel cameras from avigilon at the iscwest show - has anyone installed this system? i'd like to hear realworld feedback. thx pg -
are u talking about daisy chaining data or video? data yes for ptz control but video if using twisted pair you have to go back to a switch and youd prob use a poe switch so each would have to be run to that switch to get power

Client robbed night after install, police unable to use...
griffonsystems replied to TMJALARMSNATE's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
whats stopping you from going out on your own and selling and installing product that you and the client are happy with...the 100buck an install is ridiculous and not knowing when you will get paid is even worse, they should be getting 50% on sign and 50% after install/training so that they are covered for hardware costs prior to even starting the job...where are you located? -
software compression card vs hardware compression card
griffonsystems replied to si_kungs's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
which equals a more stable and reliable dvr, usually hardware compression can generate better frame rate/camera as well -

start looking for a new company to work for, this business is based on referrals and if your current clients arent happy with their systems the word will get out and the business will dry up -
Top DVR Cards
griffonsystems replied to eyeonutech's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
you're not happy with the price, stability, and picture of the chance-i hardware board or are you using the software compression board from chance-i? i only use the hardware comp board and am very happy with the results -

Toshiba ik-6410a day/night camera problems
griffonsystems replied to ericm23's topic in General Analog CCTV Discussion
its not the camera i use those same cameras for most of my outdoor applications they are good.. why rg6 and not rg59? i would check the powersupply - if you have them all in outdoor housings with the heater and blowering going they will drain a small powersupply. -
hard drive failures - help!
griffonsystems replied to sloweddie's topic in General Digital Discussion
western digital sata drives - raid rated ones -
my setup was more of a multiple kvm switch where you can control and view the dvr from 3 different workstations - might be overkill for this application if he just wants video
-
ok for vga you will need to go with kvm switch and kvm over cat5 - i have used aten and black box for this. basically a device sits by the dvr that you plug into the dvr and then you run a line of cat5 cable from that device to the remote device and plug in your remote lcd screen.
-
need more specifics - do you want to replicate the dvrs main monitor on these 2-3 other monitors? if so do you want control as well or just view? and do you want all monitors to be independant of eachother meaning if someone changes the view on the dvr or access the saved video, etc do u want all other monitors to change as well or stay on the live feeds you could be talking kvm switches or video dist amp, etc looks like ur asking about analog cctv - you need to get a video distribution amp, pelco makes a good one that will take 16 cams and send the video out 4x - then you will need a mux on that end to receive those feeds and put them into a multiple feed config on the monitor

connect PTZ to keyboard and DVR
griffonsystems replied to 313-313's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
the easy answer is yes you can - you can run your 22/2 data wires direct to the rj45box where your ptz controller is and then run another set of wires that you put on the same screwdown terminals in the rj45box from the rj45box to your dvr. if you already have the data wires going directly to your dvr just make a junction point there where one set of wires goes to your dvr and another goes out to your rj45box for ur controller once you get closer to 5 ptz you need to start looking into data distro units or daisy chaining, etc but for less you'll be fine -
Demo system for walkthroughs
griffonsystems replied to EagleEye's topic in General Digital Discussion
if they want to view cameras i bring them to one of my current clients and it pretty much closes the deal - i have one client that has a nice big 42" lcd panel that they use to view all the cameras and they show them the pelco spectra ivs with the joystick moving and zooming and they pretty much are ready to sign a check right there -- nothign better than a good reference client that has a cool setup
