  1. Thanks guys for your responses. Very helpful. Yes, I was wondering the same thing... what if I ride there by train? or even walk? anyway, I spoke to the manager of the company and she is a very nice person... She spoke to the accounting department and said the insurance is required since any damage to THEIR property or PEOPLE need to be covered under commercial auto liability. Anyhow, she told me to inquire on its costs and let her know, and she will pay for it. Very nice person. And yes, they are one of the biggest parking lots n the east coast so I am hoping for some more jobs. Provided that I still have a good relationship with the regional manager, it may just be an investment. I know what you mean crivine.... Its really messed up when you think about it. All these people making these laws have no idea how the cctv systems work. And if the certification from state is required, it should be free since it is an asset to the state. You couldn't even crap out money and keep it for yourselves.... the state would have a shyt tax on it.
  2. ya.... It sounds absurd but then again USA does make nonsense laws to make small businesses suffer. Any other inputs from anyone living in the USA? Thanks.
  3. My apologies. I intend to install CCTV cameras both Analog and IP based. I build the system and then install them in the premises and the only involvement from my side after that is the warranty of 3 years. I do not plan to monitor or install alarm systems in the premises. The job I have now is a 4 camera installation in an office of a parking lot company. It is in a city and I use my personal car for the business...but they want a commercial auto liability of minimum 500,000. Even if i do not park in their premises. I don't understand if that makes sense... The commercial liability is fine, I've already gotten an insurance for my business. I checked the MA website but I could not find anything relating to CCTV systems. a complete site search for the term CCTV did not even yield any results. Thanks Again.
  4. Hello, I registered my company with the irs, got commercial general liability insurance, but the company that I want to strike a contract with is a parking lot company.... but I think their requirements are too much. They sent me an insurance certificate and in the sample insurance certificate, they are asking for commercial general liability which I have, but i use my personal car for business. They also want a commercial auto insurance combined limit of 500,000 dollars. Are they asking too much? or is that normal? If anyone here can help me with what I exactly need to get my business up and running, it will be really appreciated. Parhaps a list of things that I need. Thank you.

    NV5000 8ch + IP cam question

Well actually what I think he was asking is say for example you have 15 analog cameras on nv5000. each may be running at say 5 fps. Therefore, if you add an IP cameras as the 16th camera, are you limited to the 5 FPS thats left for the 16th camera? or are you capable of the 10fps that IP cam provides?

    Diginet setup

what is the version of the software? did you buy it on ebay? If so, it is most likely a pirated version. If your software is 4.12 then its very problematic. Ask the seller to provide you with 4.11. Also, what chipset is the motherboard? cpu?
  9. Just a few quick question. This is the first time i am running 4 cameras with one cat5e cable. The distance is about 800 feet. My question is: should I use active baluns or passive ones? if passive, can i just solder the coaxial cable to the twisted pair and then do the same thing on the receiving end (dvr side) with coaxial cable and a compression bnc connector? Seems to me the passive video 4 channel transceiver and receivers are WAYY over priced... are there anything special involved in the boxes aside from re-routing the wires? Also, can you guys make some suggestion on the kind of cable I should run? I found cat5e cable selling on ebay for like 60 dollars...should I go with those? what/where can I find quality cable at reasonable price? All help is appreciated. Thank you.

  11. also, can you describe a little bit more about the an octagonal junction box installation? what does the iron pipe hang by? Do you put the pipe in the box then put a screw through the top part of the pipe so it doesn't go through the hole?
  12. Thank you much for the helpful reply. I forgot to mention that for one area, where there is the loading dock, He does want some minute details. for this, do i still need the pipe installation? or can i use a zoom lens camera? Thanks again.
  13. Hello, I've previously installed cameras in stores, offices and mansions in the past few months but I am taking a big step for my company with the following installation. A plastic Factory. 35,000 sq feet. However, the owner only wants cameras in the loading dock, and all the doors. Also, few cameras only on the 12 machines (size of a bus). One camera can cover 3 or 4 machines since he only wants to monitor if people are working on the machine or not....he does not want to know who/how/what part of the machine they are working on. So, my installation will be 14 cameras, 2 outside and 12 inside. I'll be using an Avermedia card for the system as I find them very reliable. Anyhow, getting to the point. The ceiling of the factory is very high. as high as the ceiling you'd see in home depot. There are girders in the ceiling and nothing else in between like drop ceiling or plain ceiling. My question is: if i mount the camera up there with a zoom lens, will it be acceptable? If not, how would I bring the cameras down half way to be hanging? I think I read somewhere that i can use conduit for this but are there any other way? I dont want to drill holes in his girders. Please help me.
