The 4200S and 4200E both have the same 1/2.8" sony sensor and everything the same except I think the housing and the IR leds.. don't you agree? And if you compare the distributor pricing for HAC-HFW2200S & PC-HFW4200S it is about double. End user pricing may varies due to company markup.

In the ip cam, you need to get inside each cam to adjust the wdr.. the nvr menu and even smart pss can't make you adjust them the same you did.. 1.3Mp to 2MP Hdcvi cam have built in OSD controllable via DVR PTZ option, even Smart PSS can bring up the menu & do like what I did on the DVR.

I dont really know anything about budget standalone NVR's, but make sure the cameras are really ONVIF conformant if you're going for NVR that supports ONVIF but has no other support for the camera/model you have. You can search the camera model from http://www.onvif.org/FindaProduct/ProfileProducts.aspx Even if the camera is 100% Onvif compliant, does not means the NVR will be able to connect it with full features. If you know the make of your IPC then easier for us to be able to recommend a suitable NVR for you.

Wrong, TVI & AHD does not need special recorder to use existing analog camera. It's just plug & play. So that is "Backwards compatibility"

1 is correct, 2 is wrong! HDCVI have very low demand for coaxial quality. So far I have never experience any existing coaxial that does not work & I have tested more than 100's existing cable at various site. And for TS, best is to use TVI as it will accept his existing analog cam & also have slightly better quality than CVR.
