Lightning / surge issue
msecure replied to ronwood's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Do you have RJ45 lightning arrestor at IPC & POE end? Something like this. -
The largest shortcoming for using HD-SDI repeaters is the need to place them mid-span. For longer runs, it gets even worse. First, your DVR must be capable of sending power down the coax, and that can limit the number of repeaters you can use. Second, you would have to find point(s) along the cable to cut it and insert repeaters every 80m or less (EqcoLogic specs out 83m max distance at 3.0Gbps = 1080p on RG59 (Model SL-EQCO-3G)). Ethernet-over-Coax (EoC) products can be placed at the ends of a cable and can send IP signals up to a mile. For instance, the Vigitron Vi2401 specs out at 1,800 feet at 100Mbps and up to 5,000 feet at 10Mbps. There are also extenders for UTP, something HD-SDI cannot do. The Vigitron Vi2301 can send 100Mbps data and power 2,100 feet over a single 4-pair CATx cable. Cutting cable and inserting devices along it is never a good thing. Each added device creates three additional "single points of failure" (two connectors plus the device itself). While both HD-SDI Repeaters and EoC devices add multiple failure points, at least EoC's points are located at the accessible ends of cable runs, not somewhere in the middle and likely hidden. Add the difficulty finding the 80m point of a single cable possibly buried among many and you have an instant recipe for frustration. Well, now they have HDCVI that seems to solve the cable length limitations. Wonder if it will it kill off SDI before it get really popular.

HD-SDI Cameras vs. IP Cameras where Live View is Critical
msecure replied to habusho's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Are you in a hurry to get the system? Am doing some demo video for advertising purpose using my dvr/cam. Currently those I have are adhoc fix them up with no proper placing/angle. -
HD-SDI Cameras vs. IP Cameras where Live View is Critical
msecure replied to habusho's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
With SDI if the dvr/camera/cabling is tip top condition, there would not be even a 1 sec delay. -
HD-SDI Cameras vs. IP Cameras where Live View is Critical

If 1080p is good enough for you than SDI is the way to go! Your budget should easily buy 8 SDI Cam with 8 Channel SDI DVR! -
Problem setting up POE cam (first time for me) SOLVED
msecure replied to pidgey's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Most chinese IPC assembler except for the bigger one like Dahua/HIK will use an add-on board like this. If you can open up the case, check for this module -

But does it solved the week being display in Chinese issue? -
I do not agree with this, I deal with Taiwan, China & also Korean manufacturers & it all depends on what price you are paying Can you please guide me with one or two correct HD-SDI manufacturer ( eventually UK or Europe reseller ) I am leaving end of next week and I was expecting to have my system running and recording before leaving. It is still possible if you give me the precious info Great thanks in advance. Greetings to all. Camomille I will try to check with my SDI dvr manufacturer if they have any reps in UK

Maybe you can test their demo of dvr here. http://www.everfocus.com/dvr_demo.cfm Have not tested any Everfocus products before.

Cannot find any supplier selling my model there with google. Mostly 8 channel, 4 SDI+4 D1 only. http://www.invotech.co.uk/hybrid-8-channel-hd-sdi-dvr-usb-and-webserver-p-586.html And 2 SDI+14 D1@12.5FPS onlyhttp://www.videcon.co.uk/product_details.php?StockID=1356&l1=199&l2=201&l3=211

Which county are you in?
-
Only way is to get a Hybrid if you want to use your 700TVL analog. FYI, if your camera is really 600TVL or above you can have 960h instead of D1 for analog.
-
I don't know about others but mine is 4ch SDI while the rest of the 12ch is up to 960h, total 16channel.
-
Yes, and of cos the lens being use must be really good.
-
If IPC or SDI cam no problem. Analog means you have to sent it back to exchange for a new PAL unit.
-
Actually brand is not as important as the chipset use, I find Panasonic CMOS with Eyenix is very nice while the Nextchip NVP2400 has big problem on night view. Newer Nextchip seems to have address this problem, NVP2421 & NVP2410 and also have real WDR instead of D-WDR. Existing analog camera cannot be use with SDI Dvr.

Where is your location?

Well, he is right in a certain kind of way, if you have good lightings when your HD camera capture the events, it will be in color. If not you will only see black & white like this. What make of camera is this? HIK 1r0MffWFmMI

Inexpensive way to view ip camera on multiple tvs?
msecure replied to thesillym's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Well, you can have a different use for it. Eg. While watching TV someone rings your front door bell, all you need is switch to the android HDMI channel, presuming it is switch on. I actually use a batch run app that will automatically load the camera. No need to fiddle with the mouse, just power on the stick it will connect to the pre-define channels. More convenient than carrying an android tablet. -
Experience with different brands of cams?

Since you save so much $$$, can consider going to Shenzhen for the CPSE show end of this month. It will blow you away! -
Inexpensive way to view ip camera on multiple tvs?
msecure replied to thesillym's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I will give it a try again and update you later. Previously tested with Dahua GDMSS & was disappointed with the results so have pack up the android sticks somewhere. The iVMSS-4500HD is so much better when I tested with my Nexus 10 so I guess it's time to revive my android sticks testing. -
Help Choosing a Camera
msecure replied to naphcon's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Don't have any exposure to ESC IPC so a snapshot of your current night view would give us more insights to which IPC to recommend. -
The pros & cons is already stated everywhere but for your case main advantage is you already have your coaxial runs! If you need to test drive my SDI DVR you can PM me for the details. I can also hook up my HIK IPC into 1 of the channel for you to compare, but note that it is not a 100% fair comparison because the IPC is view via my Nexus 10 & output into 1 of the SDI channel via HDMI to SDI converter but will more or less shows you the difference.
