Any other way to install webrec.cab??

I had to go through a loop of steps to get it to work with IE, to the point where I didn't like the security settings it made me set up. Alternatively, it works real well in Firefox if you install the IE Tab 2 add-on to fool webrec into thinking it's connecting to an IE browser. tom

    Intellicam and GenIV Technology?

Hey Jim, Thanks for the reply. I also got a reply from GenIV tech support & you are right: they were Intellicam and are now GenIV. Only the new G4 HD DVR's are capable of using the smart phone apps. You can tell if it's the right DVR by the HDMI port on the back. Oh well. Maybe I'll get the Android SDK and try to roll my own. Tom
  3. I've got an Intellicam JS RTA D1 that I'd like to view over an Android phone. I went to http://www.intellicamusa.com but it's now some bogus-looking, unfinished, unpolished website. I thought I read somewhere that Intellicam is now http://www.genivtechnology.com? The units look exactly the same, and the menu screens in the the manuals are identical. So does anyone know if they are the same company, or if they both purchase from the same manufacturer (if they aren't the OEM themselves)? I'd ask Mike at Shoreview, but his site has expired. I'm hoping that they are the same or similar because there is an app available from GenIV for Android based phones, like the one I'm considering upgrading to (HTC Incredible). Thanks for any insights! tom

    remote viewing problem

Success! I actually used 81 instead and it works fine. Is there any reason to use 8051? I also heard from the distributor, who sent a new firmware update, but I might hold off on that since it's working fine now. Thanks for the help. tom

    remote viewing problem

Bingo! I found yougetsignaldotcom and checked Port 80 and it's not responding. Went to OptimumOnline and searched their support section and they do block it. But for a small upgrade to Optimum Boost, I can get it unblocked. Only $9.95 a month additional cost! Oh, wait... I don't have their digital phone package, so it's $14.95 extra. Frakkin' cable companies!

    remote viewing problem

I've got a cable modem wired to a WRT54G. A WET54G wireless bridge is cabled to the Intellicam DVR in my basement. There's no problem getting to it by browsing to its IP, either by the PC connected to the WRT54G or a laptop doing it wirelessly, or by using the viewing software that came with the DVR. The problem is trying to connect using port-forwarding/DDNS (no-ip). I've found several things that I thought "just had to be the last bug", but it still doesn't work. I get a time-out if I try to access it from work. (It "appears" to work on the PC at home, but I was told that it was the router being smarter than I gave it credit for, and that it wasn't really going through no-ip.) Any thoughts on what I can try? I was getting help from the distributor, but he seems to have gotten busy, gone on vacation, or gotten bored with helping me further. I will admit that I'm not networking savvy, but I thought it should be easier than this! Thanks. Tom

    Serial port usage on Intellicam?

Thanks Mike. Sounds like the Console mode wouldn't work, but it also can be used as a keyboard input. Do you have any information on how that's used? I can't even find anybody selling keyboards that say they are for it! Tom
  8. Does anyone know what the serial port Console function on an Intellicam DVR can be used for? No reply from Intellicam yet. I'm hoping that I could change the settings "on the fly" for an idea I have. Thanks. Tom

    "Anti-dither" explained

That's the first thing I did. Here's his answer: "Actually nothing and it will delay the DVR from recording if it is set for motion on that channel. It's supposed to act as a noise reduction but does have an affect on the motion settings. If you were to set it to 5 and motion came into that channel, you would see a delay in recording or may not record at all." I was hoping it was a filter and that I could eliminate the sunshine/cloud effect. I've got a channel with it set to 2 to see if it helps. The range is from 0 to 600 seconds. I can't imagine filtering for 10 minutes! Tom

    "Anti-dither" explained

I've got an Intellicam JS-8RTA-D1 (from ShoreView Security) that I really like (my first NVR!). I've been playing with it for some time now, and one of the things I'm trying to do is to eliminate false motion detection from lighting changes, like clouds passing overhead. I came across a setting called "Anti-dither" in the motion detection setup screen, but there's not any description of how to use it in the manual. I've emailed Intellicam for help, but so far no reply. Does anyone know what this is and how to set it up? I'm an electronics engineer by profession, so I know the term, but I'm not sure how they use it with respect to DVR's. Thanks. Tom
