    NV5000 export problem

I have a new AverMedia NV5000 that we use in an interview room. I can export the video file with audio and play it on the avermedia software however when I attempt to burn the video to a disk or play with an outside viewer I do not have audio. Any Ideas as to what the problem may be and how to fix it?

  3. Gentelmen. I had a potental ask me about wireless IP cameras. I looked around a bit at the supplier I use and cannot find anything like that. Can you guys shed some light on them for me? He mentioned they worked with a wireless router to feed video through the system.... Jeff

    Need recommendation

I am looking for this info as well,,,, George the camera you are looking for can be had from several suppliers, supercircuits is one. But you are not gonna get much fov or distance out of any of them I have seen. I usually build my own. I haven't used it to trigger the dvr yet because I use software for that but I have read you can continue to use the sensor. Jeff

    Wireless IP cameras

Well most of this is fairly positive,,, The adapter to transmit is pretty good size, makes concealment a problem.... I am going to have to continue learning on this,,, might be an outlet in some situations. I had gotten away from wireless because of interfearance inside buildings and just went mostly wired years ago and then just didn't keep up with the tech.. Do these transmit any better than 1.2ghz?

    Wireless IP cameras

Kinda, I could find uses for the second one, what I would really prefer is something like a adapter that would take vid input from say a board camera then transmit that out to the server??? I noticed the old style transmitable stuff has come down in price

    Wireless IP cameras

Looking for small indoor cameras. I have found a few IP cameras since posting this on the net. I am used to toe old Mhz and ghs transmitters and recievers that are seperate. I do not know anything about the camears that can be run off of a router direct. Thanks for any and all info
  8. I have read the information at port forward . com and have a decent grasp on the practice of port forwarding but I am missing what it actually does. Is it as simple as the port is forwarded past the firewall to open it to input/output. Kudos side of this, I have searched all over and this seems to be the only surveillance specific site who discusses this issue. So thanks for doing it. Thanks in advance. Jeff

    Hello from Indiana

Hello All.. I have been out of the cctv world for several years and when I return my how things have changed... So I have alot to learn about DVR's and especially networking to make those toys work right. Have alot of experience with transmitable audio/video. Concealed cameras and building my own housings. Where I am lacking is the newer tech. So I am here to learn.

    DVR picture sticky

I recently installed a DVR and got it recording with no issues. The problem I an having is it will record fine until it hits a point where it changes to frame by frame recording, Bout a 1 second hold. If I go into the dvr and check the settings then back out it records fine for a while then starts the frame by frame deal again. The DVR is motion triggered and running at super resolution (highest quality) I was thinking about reducing the quality and see if that makes a diffrence. Any Ideas? It ran fine for a week then started this.

Don't quite understand port forwarding and kudos

Indiana the only restriction is USC on audio. The employer placed them for asset protection. No laws against it in this state. But Audio is strictly prohibited unless one party in the conversation is aware. You couldn't place them in say a rental apartment at the behest of the owner... I am still out on this,, I can view on lan, port forwarded properly but when I dial into the server from the outsde I get time out error. it will not connect. I think I have something wrong but I can't figure out what. Verizon is no help whatsoever. as to if they are blocking the ports. I am replacing the router at my cost to get a linksys so I can get a tutorial on port forwarding to be sure it is done right. Any further suggestions. ?

Don't quite understand port forwarding and kudos

Well I am lerning and some of these abriviations are starting to make sense. One question,,, Even if the ports are not forwarded and the server is just sitting there shouldn't I get something when I dial into the server? As is it just times out and says site cannot be found. the orignal modem router had to be bridged because there were no more ports on it. So it was bridged to the router. Which makes me wonder if I am typing in the wrong IP, Should it be the IP of the modem or the IP of the router? Thanks for helping me out. Jeff

    Board Cameras

Hello gentelmen. I have been building covert enclosures for some time now and have been using pretty much the same color pinhole board camera made for medium range and good in small rooms or hallways. I am building a outdoor housing and need a camera that is more suited to mid range video, The housing will be installed aproxamately 10 feet off of the ground and angled at about a 60 deg angle. I need to catch movement out about 40 feet. I orignaly used a bullet cam for this and was pleased but the enclosure was to big, so I am back to pinhole. Any recomendations for this type of camera?

Don't quite understand port forwarding and kudos

Thanks for the good info. Harrar one question though, The concern I had was being able to access remotely. I am a novice at the networking related to dvr's. My concern was that when the system is powered down, when it comes back up it gets a diffrent internet provider IP, so as I understand it if I don't know the exact IP then I cannot connect over the net,,, I could however be wrong... let me know. I don't have the port forwarding done yet because I do not have the static IP figured out yet..

Ya they failed to mention that to me on the phone. I spoke to them this morning, this is a business and they have a business account but verizon will not give them a static IP withought a monthly charge. Good news is I got the router working and the dvr configured and comunicating with the desktop. I however do not have a static IP, Trying to figure out hiw I am going to get it out on the net,, The backup and never shutting it off is a good Idea,,, wonder how it will work here. I had an oppritunity to review the last few days of recording on the dvr,,, Had some motion sensing issues and not real happy with two of the shots,, but I am never satisfied in the end when it comes to that stuff. I am going to rebuild one housing cause I am just not happy with it. The good news is the customer is tickled with it all. He was excited to sit down and wade through the video,,, Good for them.? Thanks for the replies thus far,, keep them coming.. Jeff

It all helps. That is one of the problems. The internet connection coming in is Dynamic, I have spoken to verizon and they have agreed to walk me through the repair to get it to Static. The router and dvr are currently set to dynamic, Need to fix that. Jeff

Don't quite understand port forwarding and kudos

I haven't been able to get the other computer on the LAN to recognise the DVR yet. So the plan is to try everything I have leaned about port forwarding and setting the DVR up on the "almost" same IP adress set up the port on both the program and the DVR,, I am sure there are several other things that I am forgetting but have written down to try,, any sugestions will be appreciated.. Jeff

Thanks fellas,,, I appreciate the responses. Guess I did get it, just didn't realize it. I am a bit hung up on this. I am doing a job for a friend and camera installation went great, dvr fired up and was recording in minutes, no power supply problems wiring pulled pretty easy, but I have been 2 days trying to get his computer to talk to the router and vise versa.... I am going to work on it again in the morning and see what happens. I need to disable the router side of the modem and already have the new router in place, port forward then deal with firewall/ software issues. See what else it takes after that.
  23. I feel your pain, Have lived next to an a-hole for 12 years now. When he has the head of the repubican party I couldn't even defend myself. Finnaly last year he showed his true colors and got caught lying to the powers that be. We purchased another 1/4 acre of property and put privacy fence around it. Then placed a pole building in the back. It was funny for a month, building commissionor at the house at least twice a week due to his complaints. Really funny. Again he got caught crying wolf and nobody listens to him anymore. He has 2 cameras that point into our yard, but he dosen't have nough height to get much of our yard. I don't care, only issue we have is when the wife ges out and gets in the hot tub naked and in the end we are at fault for that, if he can see it that is. I spent about 35,000 last year fencing building the building and buying the property and he can basicly siss my rear. I was going to get an IR emmiter and point it over that way just enough to obscure his shot but I started playing with him. insted. I borrowed my nephews truck and parked it in the new lot, it is beat and not pretty. He called said it had been there for a month and was broken down not registered,,,, Course all was a lie and I had the video documentation to prove it,,,, At this point I am probably half as guilty as he is cause insted of getting ticked I played with him. Only bad thing was he had a buddy in the zoning and planning who threatened a lawsuit against us for my gooseneck siting in my drive behind the house. After researching the statute which was poorly written showed them that any vehicle larger than a s10 was illegal to have in your drive... It was funny they looked at each other and then to the guy who requested the letter and advised me that I was not in violation of the ordinance,,, Incorrect,, anyone with a 1/2 ton truck or larger in their drive was in violation, and sent me on my way. Anyway,, what I am saying is don't let it get the best of you,,, now that I have the privacy fence I can't see him unless I choose to, and I don't...
