Thank you Sir. I appriciate the info. I understand about the motion det. But desperately need a way to block this screen from viewing or recording. thanks for the heads-up!! -
...I see that...I could certainly find a use for a couple fo those on my work bench!!

Make you a deal I will get some demo images up for you have if you decide to buy the camera you order it from me.... is that fair? I'll be very honest with you...with the cost of that camera and then having to buy two lenses, I seriously doubt I can sell one of those to my current client-base. But, if you did convince me...and I could sell one...I would buy it from you as long as I can't find it for 5% cheaper elsewhere. Fair enough? If not, I'm sure it won't be long before someone comes along here that has one and is willing to post just to help others out and because the mfg's don't....like Glen. Thewireguys, where you at? Was this not a satisfactory offer? Get those 3130 night demo's up...!! Sorry man I am working on it. I love coming on this web site but sometimes I have to do real work or hang out with the boss.... aka wife I completely understand. I was just pickin' on ya....

Hmm look very carefully at 1231 and 5601 under good light in his garage for example at vacuum cleaner box 1231 kinda sucks low light agree 1231 is better Yes I'm mostly stuck on the low light performance. I'm presently using Sanyo VCC-HD4000 . it is a beautiful camera and can even reliably read license plates on cars travelling 45 mph at 140 yards and 30 degree angle. Can we see samples pix from Sanyo please ? Thx Yes I'm working on getting 25 posts so I can post some. I really do want to show what it can do ( and can't do very well). About the Asian 1.3 MP camera vs Arecont post above, it that a CCD 1.3 or a Cmos? Thanks. If I'm not mistaken the Arecont 3105 DN above is a 3 megapixel CMOS....I'm curious as to what lens is used....looks very promising.

Ak357, What lens do they have on that Arecont in the second pic? Do you have any night time examples? Many thanks!!
-
Thanks for the examples guys. This is exactly what I needed. I guess for low/no light situations analog is still lookin' pretty good. Thewireguys, do you have any examples of the 3130 in low light? I'd like to see how much better "much better" is.

thank you Sir!!!..checking now... Thewireguys, noting your impressive sig...do you mind me asking if you have any experience with Acti products?

No, originally, I was considering their 4201, which is a cube cam, w/ out IR, hense my original question. But I then started looking at the 3511 after determing (pending Glen's demo's tonight) that the 4201's wouldn't be sufficient with the night lights.

Do you get reflection? I just hate that bullets are suceptible to manipulation. I don't have the option of mounting them "out of reach"..whatever that means.
-
i have plenty experience with Integrated Day Night IR cameras, but cant say I or my clients could ever afford megapixel IR cameras, besides last I checked there still wasn't much out there. Would you mind having a look at what I'm considering and providing your input? http://www.acti.com/product/detail/Megapixel_IP_Fixed_Dome_Camera/ACM-3511 Pricing is less than many quality, analog cameras. But again, I have no experience with them...so I don't know.

No problem, give me a little while and I will try to get it together tonight. I'll post it here for everyone to see. go on whit 'cha bad self!! J/K..I do appreciate you though...
-
Didnt realize you were talking about IP cameras. Since most are CMOS and/or poor in low light situations i cant say they will work or not. I understand. Do you, or by all means, does any one else have any experience with megapixel and integrated IR (understod that integrated isn't the preferred method)?
-
Well, I'd hate to ask you to go to the trouble but like other's have said, it's a d@mn shame that manufacturers don't provide more examples and pretty much make us buy their product to see what we're getting. If you have time, it would be great but don't break your back over it. I greatly appreciate your offering!!

Thanks for your time, Rory. These Acti cameras will be going in a smal pharmacy. I'd really rather use megapixel for cash register and, more so, pill dispensing monitoring. However, if someone has no surveillance system it's a tough sale to intruduce them to a megapixel system so I'm trying to keep the cost to a minimum. As far as the area size, the largest space to monitor is 20x25, give or take a couple of feet. In light of this post. I'm considering going to the 3511's but that drastically increases cost (although very reasonable for a quality system ((that's the part most buyers don't get))

...ya know guys...I never got an answer to my original question. I got side-tracked with all of the good info I was getting and got off-subject myself. Plus, Rory jumping in on one of your threads finally is enough to make you forget what you asked. Does any one have an opinion on how much good a couple of night lights would do for a .5 lux camera.....any at all?
-
No WDR. I think it is the most basic of the megapix cameras....and for the price, I wouldn't expect much more.
