I think I'll just move over to this thread so I don't have pics posted everywhere (don't want Rory on my bad side!! .

True about the ir reflection. Is there not excessive noise in this pic? Here is a daytime .. -

Optimal settings for Nuvico CB-SD21N-L and other questions?

I am using a PS09DC power supply...nto the best, I know but it suffices for testing (or has so far, at least). Yes, I'm using UL listed siamese rg59 18/2. I will send a pic to nuvico and see what they say. Thanks for your time in replies! -
Hey Guys- got all 3 cams in and am testing now. I will post pics Sunday. I have to say that I'm not at all pleased with the Nuvico. WAY to much noise at night with the IR's on. I have searched and searched this forum for pointers on settings for this model but I have spent 5+ hrs focusing and playing with the many settings and it's just not living up (yes, I said 5 hours just to focus...got any clients that are interested in paying you 5 hrs labor to focus a camera?!?). I will say that day picture is decent if you turn saturation and brightness down a good bit. I have the n700nh up now and so far a much better quality picture than the nuvico....can't speak for realiablity just yet, of course. I plan to test the three side-by-side tomorrow and tomorrow night and will get the results posted Sunday (looks like the Nivico may be off to ebay [ I was hoping for good results with this cam]. ...stay tuned!

Optimal settings for Nuvico CB-SD21N-L and other questions?
ini replied to Tailbone215's topic in Security Cameras
DVR Man- When you say you have the older version are you referring to the 3895? If so I wonder if something's changed in the new model because I've spent 4 hours (tightning the zoom first, the focusing) and I can't get the quality image I was expecting. I've also played with backlight/DSS/etc. with not much improvement. And the noise when IR's are on in the dark is horrid. I was really looking forward to working with this camera but if I can't find the magic that you found I'm affraid it's going to be off to ebay. Any other ideas that I might try? I would be glad to post pics if it would help. Many thanks in advance! -

Hi Tailbone- I don't have the solution but I am in the exact same boat as you. I got mine today and, like you, my $98.00 bullet has much better image...this can't be right. I haven't experience the IR's yet but it will be dark soon. If you find the answer outside of this forum would you please update this thread so I too know what I'm doing wrong? Thanks, -

Recommended distance to mount cam from flood light?
ini posted a topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Using rg59 18/2, and an ir bullet (dome as well) how far is a safe distance to mount from a flood light? 1', 2' 10', etc. And I assume if the cam and light are pointed in the same direction the light should be behind the cam? If more info is needed please let me know. Rory, Cooperman? Thanks so much in advance! -

Thanks for the input Soundy. So, there are no concerns with mounting the cam with-in .5-1' from the lights, interference-wise? Unfortunately, IR cams are all I have at the moment. -

thanks sviviani, I'm planning on using motion det. lighting so hopefully bugs won't be a huge problem (however, I live in Ga so there are enough around in the summer!) From more of a power/noise/interference perspective, what rule of thumb do you usually use? -
Excellent post Sawbones. As an IT consultant and Network Engineer, I often why more people don't change the default listening port. Very simple and effective. Unless it's a financial or medical institute, most "bad guys" aren't going to spend the time going above 1024.

Thanks so much for the info! Have been deliberating for a while if I should buy a couple for testing....just wanted to hear someone that has actually used them back up the claims...back to that "money" thing, ya know?

Hey All- ..does anyone have any experience with KT&C's KPC-n600nh or KPC-n700nh? Specifically, I'm looking for a hands-on comparison between them and Nuvico's Big Boy (CB-SD3895N-L). Of course, I'm open to any suggestions regarding other mfg's/models of comparable type and price. Thanks so much in advance!!

hello to all. I'm a complete nube so please forgive me for posting this question. I've rummaged through the threads here regarding similar questions but haven't been able to find what I'm looking for. Does anyone have, or know where one might find a demo, screenshot, etc of a 480TVL vs a 550/560TVL color camera? Is there any noticeable difference at all? Many thanks in advance for your reply!

Nevermind....chalk me up for two daq's

Thanks Dopal...I guess I did learn something from it. Since few mfg's seem to list effective pixels, is there a formula for calculating effective pixels or does it depend on the lens type, quality, etc that the mfg uses? In other words is there a way to know what you're getting? Thanks,
-
Thanks to all for the input. I now realize what a stupid ? this is and if I could figure out how to delete the dang thing, I would!

[vietsymbian ]-- as stated before, I'm a complete nube. I'm speaking of advertised camera specs..you know as in 480TVL, a 550TVL, etc. And I also undertand the variables in the orig. question..so let me re-phrase....all else being equal (DVR's, cable, lenses, and anything else... are there human-recognizeable differences between 480TVL (advertised camera specs) vs 550TVL? Just curious as to if I should invest the extra money (I'll refrain from mentioning model numbers as it's irrelivant to the question).

understood. Thanks for your reply.

Judging by the number of reads vs replies, I understand that I have posted a question that I should have investigated more, prior to. I sincerely appologize for your time....
