  1. As Ted said, thats a large scene to expect 1x 2MP camera to cover, especially if you have to comply to a standard of 50% image height for recognition. Do you have to produce that standard at the furthest distance in the scene from the camera? It sounds like your standard is very similar to our standard here in Australia, and it is old and based on analog CCTV, and has not been revised for IP or megapixel cameras. So the required zoom and resolution level is what ever it needs to be to achieve the standard on the monitor the image is being viewed on, and I think you need to be looking at 250+ pixels per meter at the furthest point in the scene to acheive the standard as a minimum. To achieve the standard with that scene I would (without having the specific scene measurements) think you would need about 4x 5 MP cameras at a minimum. There are caculators available to determine the pixels on target for megapixel cameras. I cannot post here. CCD megapixel cameras do perform better in low light over CMOS. Also CCD megapixel cameras that have an EF mount lens offer further benifits in terms of lens optics, and the ammout of light available to the sensor. For example to cover that scene (if the budget allowed) I would be looking at the required mutiples of Colour CCD in either 2MP or 4.2MP Cameras with Cannon L series lenses 24mm f/1.4, 35mm f/1.4 or even the 50mm f/1.2, , as I said if the required outcome out weighed the budget. These coupled with the Raymax White Light units may achieve the best results. I have a project comming up with these cameras and Raymax white light units, so I will report on their performance. Also as said in another post you will need to manually set your exposure setting on the existing cameras to limit the ammount of motion blur you are getting at night, you will need to find a balance between the day and night time performance.

How to be a good seller

Your employer (if they are a good one) should be your first point of call for the experience and the tools you need to perform your role as a CCTV sales person. They should offer you training on their products and the general knowledge you need in designing a system, pricing it up and selling it. They should also be able to give you some direction on possible markets and end users to target for their product range. It is in thier best interest to see you achieve. Gather information and experience from your work peers. Listen alot and talk a little. Selling is a numbers game, get out there and see as many people as you can and build up a quote tank as quotes can take some time to convert to orders. The more quotes you have out there the more chance of orders comming, be prepared to work smart and hard. Do not be dissapointed with a "no" response, make it drive you harder. Always deliver what you say you will when you say you will. Always be on time for appointments. BE HONEST. and put yourself in the buyers shoes sometimes as this will help you know what they need without over selling. Dont let the pressure of your probationary period overwhelm you. Wake up each day happy and determined to do your best. China market is very busy, you should do well. Good Luck, and welcome to the game...
  3. But will it work if my camera is not POE? Its ACTi ACM-4200. Yes, if you are not using a POE switch then you will install the Verasity "OUTSOURCE" device prior to the Verasity "OUTREACH" Device. If you are using CAT6 you should be able to get the 220M distance with 2x Outreach devices, installed at 110M intervals. Just one OUTSOURCE or before every OUTREACH there needs to be OUTSOURCE? Just one outsource.
  4. HD means the HD standard of 720p or 1080p. At this stage these fit most peoples requirements and as such I can not comment on the Avigilon products up to 16MP. I can only say that JPEG2000 is not an industry standard, which is what Indigo try to adhere to and is why we produce H.264 encoding, which is the TV industry standard and has a lot of room t be further enhanced while remaining with in the standard. Ok, a swipe at the oposition and then a side step. I did a check on the Indego web site and only one HD (720p) camera was listed, hardly a range. Are you willing to share with me why you think Avigilon or Mobotix do not have a useable front end client software? or reliable. Do you have any forst hand experience with this? You mentioned JPEG2000, which is what Avigilon uses and my research tells me that for high resolution video 1080p and above, JPEG2000 is the superior compression, hence why HD Cinema uses it as their standard. In mid resolutions JPEG2000 and H.264 are comparable and for low resolution and bit rates H.264 is a bit better. Am I wrong in this? For multi megapixel surveillance systems I will stick to the advantages of JPEG2000. But my blinkers are not on and am open to learning more.
  5. There may be a number of reasons you are not getting good images in low light and getting motion blur. From what I know about the Arecont camera the one your using does not have auto iris, is this correct?, so in low light the camera is adjusting the exposure setting to get the most light in, thus causing motion blur on moving objects. Also if you are not using IR corrected lenses the focal point changes alot when changing to monchrome mode and the image may become blury. It would be best to use a Megapixel D/N camera with auto irs and IR corrected lens for this application, preferably with Auto Focus. Or a High Megapixel Colour CCD Camera with a low f/stop, Auto Iris lens and the Raymax white light unit with a PE cell. Also with the 2MP camera and 85 degree FOV at 2M your are getting an OK effective "pixels on target" of around 290 pixels per meter with a scene width of about 6.5M, however at 30M your scene width is up around 55M and "pixels on target" of only around 35 pixels per meter which is very poor resolution.

  7. Resolution is key in any surveillance system. Why is the Avigilon or Mobotix front end client software not usable? With the range of HD cameras available from Indego Vision as stated above, are you able to tell me the bit rate on a 2MP, 5MP, 11MP and 16MP Indego Vision camera at the highest image quality available @ max frame rates for each camera, with a minimum of 80% activity in the scene? as I would like to compare the H.264 to other compressions at this level and determine if the Indego Vision compression and storage is 50% better as claimed. Cheers
