When a client specifies 30 days worth of recording, does this mean that you will also need to backup this 30 days recording after 30 days or you just let it overwrite and just forget about the 31st days and later? Im just wondering because recording 30 days is about 8Terrabytes and if I backup this, it would mean that I would provide another set of 8TB just for backup, and another 8TB for the next month and so on....

I have here a client specs that says they require fixed dome camera with integral lens of 2.6 to 6mm DC Iris Lens. To my understanding, Fixed dome cameras are fixed lens cameras. So I don't get it when they mention 2.6 to 6mm DC Iris lens.... Can somebody help clarify this for me? Thank you very much. Update: read up on it... i guess they are looking for a varifocal lens. my question now is. is there such a thing as automatic varifocal or all varifocal are adjusted manually?

Is there a special camera for elevators or is it enough just to fix a wide angle lens on a minidome camera? say a 2.2mm 1/3" lens on a 2 meter high elevator cab.

RG6 Aluminum Braiding with Aluminum Foil
sexydadee posted a topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Please explain to me the immediate and longterm consequences of using this cable for CCTV, because I cannot understand how this one installer is getting away with installing this cable, even on long runs (300meters) and still get a decent video. I forgot to mention that it is a copper-clad steel conductor -
anybody knows a bnc to usb video converter so I can view and adjust the coax camera on site via my laptop?

What is the main difference of Fixed Dome and Box Type Cameras without considering aesthetics? When or where do I use the appropriate camera? Thanks

so which is an important factor to consider in proper signal propagation for CCTV? DC resistance or attenuation in dB?
-
how exactly do you measure the resistance on the cable? where do i place the test leads of the multimeter? also, when you measure, lets say, 10ft. of cable, and it gives out 3ohms, does this mean you have a resistance of 3ohms per 10ft of cable? Thanks

Actual Pictures of RG59U Copper Braiding
sexydadee posted a topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Anybody kind enough to show me an actual picture of a 95% copper braiding and a comparison to a braiding less than that? Also can someone explain to me the difference between a 95% copper braiding and 95% copper coverage? Because I might mean 95% copper coverage in my first question. Thanks -
RG59 cable attenuation, or lmax cable run
sexydadee posted a topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
What is the max cable run for CCTV on RG59? Also, what is the frequency for composite video? I have these attenuation specs for RG59 that states the dB loss/100ft. at a certain frequency. Is this what they use to determine the max cable run? Can I check if my camera can transmit over a certain distance via RG59 by using only the attenuation spec of the cable and the output of the camera which is a 1V peak to peak composite signal? Thanks -

RG59 cable attenuation, or lmax cable run
sexydadee replied to sexydadee's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
how were they able to come up with the max distance of 750 ft.? what formula or factors did they use? Thanks -

What is video loop out and how does it work?
sexydadee replied to sexydadee's topic in Digital Video Recorders
So does it follow that if your dvr has a video loop out, you also have a matrix? if my dvr has an IP capability, do i still need the video loop out or can i set which camera goes to what monitor in the software? thanks
