Hi Everyone
I'm posting this on behalf of a friend who needs some advice. He came and asked me as I work in IT (obviously that makes me the world authority on anything that uses electricity).
He owns a bar and the police have told him he's got to change his 10 year old video cctv system to digital.
the cameras are ok, but he has to replace an two cams to infrared low light and colour low light camera.
He's also got to get a 16 or 12 channel digital dvr system. holds at least 31 days footage.
What do you recommend as the most cost effective dvr system and cameras ? if they mention frame rates, if they are of equal frame rate, I guess quality and storage size is the same ?
If consumer tech is anything to go by, certain manufacturers should be avoided and some always very good. any advice ?
how do you back up a dvr - incase hard drive fails ?
can you use any hard disk in these things. I see some are charging £300 for the 1tb HD upgrade. They cost £60 normally.
Lots of stuff on ebay. - anything I should watch out for ?
sorry for the scatty post, but my friend does not have the foggiest about this stuff. He's had a few companies quote, some prices are quite contrasting. He doesn't know who is friend or conman.
