Good/cheap 4 & 8 channel stand alone DVRs
Daryl733 replied to Rebco's topic in Digital Video Recorders
AVTech ? -
But most times... lowest price still win out. Most customers dun care about how to search, how to backup, UNTIL INCCIDENTS happens. Before that, all they care is prices. Had a unit that's much more easier to backup, at a slightly higher price, abt $100 more. But most customers still choose to go for the cheaper one. So quote for higher price one, you'll just lose business. That's just my opinion.

Hmm.. How can you compare Avermedia's 1340Net to AVC760 ? It's not an apple to apple comparision. I can get 2 x AVC760 for the price of 1 x 1340Net (and have some spare change to take a cab back). It's like comparing a BMW to a Toyota. Price ranges different, you get different product and feature.

Well.. you pay peanuts, monkey's what will come. Don't expect high end performance out of this machine. It's cheap, value for $ for a Triplex Network DVR at under $200. So what you expect out of it ? And stop emphasising on the ASIAN product. I don't think a product being good or bad has anything to do with races. And yes, i also know the shortcoming of the DVR. I had feedback to them, and their reply is.. they also know.. but they are needed to come up with a product that has these improvement, their R&D and production cost will go up, the product has to sell for higher price. Looking at the priceline that they are selling at, and the numbers of DVR that they are moving, i would say they are at the right direction, at the moment. Low price, more dvr move. Crappy features, but you get what you pay for. So why complain ? If you want a better performing DVR, be prepared to pay more. Else Compare a under $200 DVR, most you'll get even crappier one. -
Go back to your vendor. They should know how to fix the issue. As you know, lots of resellers selling AVTech product. AVTech does not provide support directly as you had found out. So basically it is how different vendor's service and expertise in the product that differentiate one another. Get a good vendor so that you get good support for AVTech product. We had customers who bought from other vendor trying to call in for free support. Ridiculous.

Panasonic IP Camera with Video Analytics ?
Daryl733 posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Panasonic IP Camera with Video Analytics ? I've a customer that's telling me Panasonic's IP Camera have build in Video Analytics. Can anyone verify with me on that ? What i want to do is to detect illegal parking in an area where there's also pedestrain traffice, vegetation, and send out alert. -
Last but not least... all baluns are not made equally. I've tried quite a number. Almost all work fine when use for short distance. But when you extend it to 3-400m, that's when you see the difference. Luckily, cabling is the same. Just swap out the balun.

The reason why the cable are twisted because it allows for cancellation of interference. e.g. Blue, Blue/White are twisted. So if there's external EMF interfering with the signal, it'll induce a voltage on both the Blue and Blue/White to the same extend due to it being twisted. e.g Blue = 1V, Blue White = 0V, so Voltage Difference, p.d. = 1V. If there's external interference to the twisted pair, and thus Blue = 1.2V, BlueWhite = 0.2V, the Voltage Difference is still 1V. Thus the signal at the end will not be difference due to the induction of voltage due to any interference. Therefore, when you use balun, use the TWISTED paid. Don't go thinking 2 is better than 1, so put Blue, Blue/White into 1 point, and Orange, Orange/White into the other. You'll basically eliminate the features of twisted pair cable. Stick to using 1 pair. That's goes the same for Crimping a RJ45 network head. Follow the colours standard and not just crimp both end to the same color sequence. The data send/receive will not be connected to the twisted pair then. For short distance, it'll work. But if you extend it longer, you'll find the data tranmission corrupted. I've seen too many contractors crimp the network cable the wrong way.

If you did a proper backup, it'll be at :\KDB\BACKUP\\ e.g. "C:\kdb\BACKUP\{DDD8DAC1-5BCF-4F23-A8EC-6A8C8FEE533E}" Anywhere else, the center will not find it.

Check out grandeyes. Baically recording at high resolution, so you actually captured the details when you record. 360 degree, and display part of the recorded images at a time so you get to "pan" ard the video while playing back. But if i am not wrong, it's abt $2k per cam, plus $2k for the recorder (each cam need 1 recorder) in order for you to do that.
-
Use Diginet Center. Not Diginet Site. Site's the server. Center's the client. After installing, click on search and select where you place the kdb.
-
You are using Kodicom DVR, DIginet. Install the DIGInet software, and then play from there.

Looks like a HIKVISION oem.

Panasonic IP Camera with Video Analytics ?
Daryl733 replied to Daryl733's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
That's what i had advised the customer. e.g. 1 false alert per hr per camera. For 150 Cameras, that'll be 150 false alert per hour, abt 2.5 per min, that's like 1 every 24 secs. How to leave it unmonitored in this case ? Anyway, anyone has experience in this ? http://www.ioimage.com -
I need to design a system that basically have 80 to 100 cameras covering a location. The system needs to be able to detect activites and send alert to users when the activities exceed a certain amount of time, e.g. 3hrs. Might need to increase the number of cameras, so the system has to be able to handle large numbers of cameras. The cameras will also be seperated away from one another, so that basically putting dvr hooking on to serveral cameras might not be an options. It'll almost be like 1 DVR per camera if that is the case. So I am more exploring the use of IP Cameras with Video Analytics. Any suggestion or recommendation ?

How's the software on CP Cam/Avtech DVR's?
Daryl733 replied to benf's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Hmmm.... -
Not for AVTech/CPCam DVR. They don't issues a software to watch on PC directly off their harddisk.
-
Can you play direct from avtech's cd backup ? I tried a couple before, and it prompt to "fix it" (same as sometimes when you download a network backup). And a 650mb backup takes like 1 hour plus to "fix". Damm ridiculas......

There's a few defination of mobile DVR. I presume you refer to those that's use in the car right ? Even then.. there's 2 kind. 1. Accidents recording. -Only need to be on when the car is being driven. So power can tap from car batt. 2. Vandalism recording. -You'll need to think of some other power source. Can still tap from batt, but u'll risk running the batt flat. Most DVR that i see that proclaim themselves as Mobile (as in car) dvr does not come complete with power. They presume u'll tap the power from the car batt, and thus only will function when car is started. One vendor i seen, basically connect directly to car batt, and run it flat. And supply the cust with an emergency charger to jump start the car whenever the car batt's flat.

Well.. Kelvin from AVTech, any comments on this ?
