And then get a pic grabber as well.. capture the agreed image, compile them, and get customer to sign off on the location and the image to be seen. This will greatly reduce the incidents where customers wants to shift the location of the camera after installation.

Video Analytics with IP Cameras
Daryl733 replied to Daryl733's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
The key thing is that all the cameras will be spread out over estimated 40km. So the only way to link back all cameras would be either by 3G, or multiple wifi connecting the cameras and using broadband to connect back to a central location. Using powerful server at the backend for processing all these network cameras input should not be a issue. But the linkage back to the hq might not be stable, and also the bandwidth might not be that fast. So system must be able to do low framerate analysis as well. Let me take a look at it. Any other recommendation ? -
Provide the following info. Home (Video Web Server) - Ok Home (IE) - Not Ok. Internet (Video Web Server) - ? Internet (IE) - ? _________________

At least u do your maths and is practical. I have customers insisting on 6 months recording. So 1 terabyte x 4 x 6 = 24 Tera. And Yet they insist that 500GB is enough. And not all system support 24 Tera, Most only up to 4 HDD, or 8 HDD at most without additional hardware equipments.

Just curious. Apart from casino, etc. Does anyone really do 16 chs real time in D1 considering the storage needed ? How much storage will it goes through per day for all 16 chs ? and how much storage does it support, and how much storage are you willing to spend ?
-
You are on dynamic ip, and the ip changes ?

I think the budget and the level of quality you want doesn't really match. As i said.. normally..... you pay peanuts... .anything better than a monkey's a steal. You might want to consider spending more on the storage. Get a DVR, set it to HIGHEST resolution and framerate, and watch it burn through your storage .

So Kevin, How's the election in taiwan ? Did the party you want got in ? Free to answer my queries now ?

It doesn't support USB Harddisk. Only thumbdrive. And not all thumbdrive. It's not limited to those in the list, but it doesn't support all as well. And yes, you'll have to reformat it to FAT32. Most thumbdrive come preformated as FAT16.

Dang it, I'm goin' nuts here... Gotta pick one!
Daryl733 replied to CottyGee's topic in Digital Video Recorders
I don't see network performance being much of an issue. Backup isn't an issue - as a homeowner, the only time I'd need to "keep" something would be on the rare occasion that something "happens". For the AVTech AVC760, is network the only way to get video off the machine, or can it dump video to a thumbdrive or something?? Yes, 760 only backup through network. You'll need to look at 761 for USB. -

Well.. AVC760's recording MJPEG. Harddisk comsumption's pretty high. Quality so so. You can only backup through network. Backing up speed's more than real time even through direct connection with cross cable. e.g. 1 mins of backup, u might need ard 2-3mins. Per channel. And network performace is of essential to you, you might want to see a demo before deciding on this model. Most likely you'll not pick it after the demo. Avermedia, not too sure. I used their older model, the 1004BAK, and 1004NET. Not very please with it. Compared to AVTech, i'll take AVTech. But now their new models seems to get quite good review. So you gotta ask those that use it. G4-LTA H.264 DVR , no idea. -
Overwhelmed meh ? 3 questions only...... Still waiting leh... haa...................................

Inside IP work ? You are halfway there. Now for your dyndns account. Some router does not translate that properly internally. And especially when your router is also using port 80 for the web setup. You have to test it from another computer connected to the internet vie another internet connection. Not connected through your lan. If can, then bascially you had done it. If cannot, then have to troubleshoot again. If can, that means internally you'll have to use lan ip. Then externally you'll have to use dyndns host. That's all. P/s: ya.. 2wire gateway doesn't do translation from local domain name to internal lan ip. AFAIK, speedtouch, dlink, linksys newer model does. Other brand not too sure. -
Thanks for the info.

Well.. customer knows the range of pricing. Have budget. So must source.
-
Well... since the only 2 requirement's 1. Budget of $500 2. Only concern was the quality of the recorded image. You should consider these type http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-DMR-EZ28K-1080p-Upconverting-Recorder/dp/B0014F7Z94/ Only $229.99. Record in High Defination format. Comes with DVD Burner. Record at REAL Time. How much higher quality can you get ?
-
Well... we do have such a system. http://www.lakson.com.sg/brochure/DVRDVS.pdf Basically it comes with CMS to manage unlimited number of DVR/Cameras. Currently it can only display up to 25 cameras per time, but plans underway to increase that to 64 cameras. You can group the DVRs into various sub/subsub groupping based on countries, area, etc. Support 1 Harddisk for 4 Channels, and 4 HD for the 8/16 Chs version. Recording's in H.264, smooth streaming over broadband (256kbps upstream) can be achieve by adjusting the bitrate. Dual stream for each channels, so that 1 higher bitrate stream can be use for recording/network streaming, and the other lower bitrate stream can be used for network streaming to achieve smooth streaming. Support for recording to NAS also underway. And it's not expensive.
