I recently made a purchase at safemart.com I had to call up and give the customer service rep my credit card info and etc. becuase of the price match unable to do transaction online. Well a little while later I got a notification of my card being frauduently used for a telephone order at a big box store. Some coincidence huh. And this place also provides alarm monitoring! buyer beware.

Anybody use shrink tubing for outdoor splice on rg59 ? If so.what size do you use? Looking for.something a little nearer than electrical tape.

I recently acquired 1000' spool of rg59 plenum wire(free in trash from construction site). I noticed that the overall diameter of the cable is thinner than say regular RG59 part of siamese. Does anyone know why? What connectors would be used for this type cable? It clearly has it stamped on the cable "RG59/U" the vable is made by helix.

RG59 different thickness
FIERCE4203 replied to FIERCE4203's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
It's even still too thin for the compression I will check out the crimp ons though. Thanks for the help. -
Went to ISC at javitts the other day. Wondering if anyone else was there. Heavy on ptz IP's at the show. Would like to see what anyone else's pros cons of the show. Cons was cnb wasn't there. Definetly impressed with nuvico new line of dvr they rolled out. They now have mobile playback and will probably be working on alarm playback. Much better than just live view.

Send me a pm with details. -
where can I get one of these besides ebay? I have scoured the internet with no luck. I got a board camera that doesn't have the pigtail so I can't tets it.

I forget where I saw this camera online but it had me shaking my head. It was a IR bullet with a tiny speaker that supposedly emits a frequency to deter insects from camera. I would love to see a test performed on this camera sounds like snake oil to me. just found it the camera is clinton electronics model ce-b707 and it states: Anti-Spider Technology: Emits a special high frequency signal that detracts spiders and other insects. This technology deters spiders from creating a web over the camera which in return reduces service calls.

Best way to capture an event from a DVR 4004
FIERCE4203 replied to SARGE's topic in Digital Video Recorders
If its the same no no name or zmodo/raysharp dvr you are talking about then it should have a usb in front under plastic door. But if you are looking to make a back up you have to go to the downloads folder that the dvr makes from the system setup page. Find the file you want and save it. You can convert the file or play it with the right player. I use GOM player it ha sthe right codecs. I would consider looking into a better unit for a little more money. I don't one channel only replay and its hard to go back in time. Good luck. -
using CATV splitter for multiple TV view
FIERCE4203 posted a topic in Installation Help and Accessories
This thread isn't going to be about modulating a channel over standard cable transmission. I just wanted to see what other people do for splitting CCTV signals for multiple TV views. I do know there are bnc splitters and "T"'s but I have had luck using cheap standard CATV splitters (5m-2.4ghz). Which keeps the cost down on residential installs. I have used it on well over 100' runs. The only problem is using various type connectors. I usually use BNC out from back of dvr then RG59 type f to splitter type f out of splitter to RG59 RCA compression (try to elimate bnc with adaptor for the RCA figured one less connection.) Again this is keeping it simple and cost efficient. Would like to see what others think/do. -
just wanted to let everybody know. I use their vandal turret domes alot I like their bright white color to match eaves, IR range, and overall picture. I had some issues previously with moisture entering sealed fixed dome and got replacements had pay for return S&H. However just installed 4 of these again and 1 stopped working when called for a return they said I have had alot of problems with cameras (they stated have less 1% failure rate)must be my power supply I should buy theirs. At which point I stated my previous issues have been with moisture not with power. they declined to issue me RMA and again had to pay out of pocket for S&H on a return. Because of return trips for reinstall and out of pocket for returns I guess I'm looking for a new go to dome camera. This place just doens't care for their customers. Just a side note the tech urged me to use their 1.5 amp power supply after I stated I am using 4 units at 750 ma per camera and 100' run siamese per camera. Don't you think that would create a power concern/issue???

has anyone used these cameras? Price looks good but it also makes me hesitant (too good to be true) Ill post link from manufacturer. Any input I would appreciate. http://www.unixcctv.com/_e/SUPERDOME_Infrared_Camera/product/ID-6135V/HERO_SUPERDOME_reg_HD_IR_Camera.htm

don't go with the TL series Speco DVR. For the money, they flat out suck. Save yourself alot of money go with an avtech or rayvision for alot less. Can't beat CNB domes for the price either.

Specotech Intensifier Outdoor Cameras - Cold weather
FIERCE4203 replied to zardoz's topic in Security Cameras
I have 4 of these cameras. They are only good for static scenes anything with movement is horrible. Listen to everyone else just get a true day night. Also the 1st generation intensifiers are a real pain to fine focus. You will be up and down ladders constantly. -
Speco just released a iPhone app that can be downloaded in the Apple store. Droid users can get the java emulator thing that doesn't work half the time. Can't believe it took this long for a iPhone app how about a Droid app Speco? Overall not impressed with the TL series dvr

Where the heck do you find 1" threaded enclosure plug for a dome camera? I have a couple of cameras with open conduit holes and I have no idea where to buy replacements. Isearche dthe internet and home depot ot no avail. Don't really do any conduit work. Any help appreciated thanks.

couldn't say it better. bump.

If your worried about the horses being bothered by the IR then you can buy bullets that have invisible IR's that cannot be seen. You have to search around I do know speco makes a bullet with invisible IR unknown of model #. Someone else on the forum might be able to tell you the number on wavelenghth that makes them visible.

the TV was mounted to be a floating tv (no visible wires/boxes/mount). TV is used in bedroom and client wanted to go to input to monitor exterior door. We then took it one step further and incorporated the dvr with the Ir repater because the DVR had a remote and its easier for client (not very computer savy). The DVR is setup for local/remote view.
-
Have to do a lcd install with ir repeater thought would be great idea to run it through the cctv dvr as well. After all the dvr is in another room and it does have a remote. Anyone do this before? One thing hooking up a output to a tv but now you can control dvr from different room. Think I might have to do this at my house now.
-
purchased one from cables to go for around $50.00 got good reviews. Give it a shot thanks.
-
on your phones browser enter your ip address. If you have the new firmware you should be able to download it from the splash screen of the dvr. If not (and I had problems of rvh1008) download bubo from market directly I think its an updated version.

spoke to soon they now have a application on android market but it only supports hd dvr at this time.

acquired a used pelco IS90 dome camera. The internals were disconnected had to put everything back together. I must say that thing is like a rubix cube. Does anyone know if the board just floats on the internal housing pegs it doesn't seem secure when you move the axis? I downloaded the manual off pelco's site but it doesn't go into detail about how dome is put together. Have a feeling it might be missing a piece. If not just looks like a bad design.
