did you ever have a bad box of siamese? Recently did two installs and when terminating the ends I had no video. I replaced the connectors then capped one end and checked continuity. Still bad. Had to rip out all the runs I did with that box. Power was fine just not video. after ripping out cable I was tried cutting the cable in sections and check continutiy just to see if I could pinpoint the problem area but couldn't find it. Possibly just a nick in video side? I don't know. Oh well learning experience I guess.

Have a rayvision dvr hooked up to a speco PTZ. A/B wire soldered to db25 connector at back of dvr. Power is at ptz camera. All settings match. DVR controls PTZ fine, then wait couple hours and dvr will not communicate with ptz. If i turn off DVR and reboot everything will work again leading me to think the problem lies with the dvr. Can anyone advise what voltage I should be getting from dvr to control wires? I heard 5 volts but want to make sure this is my next step. driving me crazy.

got a great deal on a speco ptz off ebay, go figure. The silver stock color doesn't go with anything so ripped it apart to give it a good rustoleum whitewash. Forgot to take before pics but I took my time and masked everything. I don't know why so many companies stray from the standard white color. Like cnb for example hate that off white/beige color on their domes.

What ? Not really sure what your asking I am assuming your using twin ax cable in place of siamese.

Anybody have any experience with this DVR? On paper looks like a good unit for the money. One of the first DVR's that I have seen that works with any 3g phone. Would appreciate any comments probably goin to pick up a 8ch 500g to have a look at.

purchased rayvision rvh1008d from US Security solutions. I have to say the term you get what you pay for hits nail on the head. Biggest complaint is the motion detection. Sensitivity turned all the way down less than 5 grids selected and motion still detected from rain or motion not even in selected grid. Even on interior cameras. This dvr replaced my old system and I never had a problem. Recently purchased the htc evo with droid platform. Downloaded the viewer off the company website system would take forever to link up and when it did it would only display ch1 on 8ch dvr. I decided to upgrade firmware {x11b92}(newest firmware has droid specific player). Now all I get is uncaught exceptions on the device. At least before I was able to view jpeg images on splash screen of dvr entry now I can't even do that because the new firmware only allows download of the nonworking droid remoteview software. I have to admit the person i speak to at the above company does sound knowledgable but this product has ended up being a big failure. The manufacturer website also does not reply to e-mails and their support page has been done for weeks. Time to unplug this dvr and blow dust off a no name on my shelf for now until i save up for a better brand name unit.

just installed two these cameras in an office area. I am quite impressed at how good quality of a camera cnb provides for a cheap price ($50 each). Very crisp pics good in low light situations. cameras are the last two channels. remote view doesnt do it justice.

Speco HTINTB8 versus Nuvico CB-HDE21N-L
FIERCE4203 replied to better_vetter's topic in Security Cameras
I have not played around with the nuvico but I have done an install with the speco htintb8. They are very rugged cameras. easy to set up with the intensifier however they do have ther downfalls. The first being the image lag. Even when the intensification is low moving images are almost unrecognizable. The second being the focus rings. Even Speco techs have stated they are very hard to fine focus. I did have to return several times (day/night/twilight) to refocus but now they get a good picture. I would lean towards something with sens up or true day night. However I am not 100% sur ethe differences between the first and second generation of the htintb8? -
Can Anyone tell me about Speco DVR 8TL is a good dvr or bad?
FIERCE4203 replied to alexdsds's topic in General Digital Discussion
I have installed this DVR and I have to say it is very easy to naviagte. However one of my gripes about this unit is that the user has a very limited password choice options. For example you can only use digits 1-8 no 0 or 9's on th 8tl. Othe rthan that very good unit. Only problem had HD go bad when computer tech unexpectedly shut down the rack. -
sorry if this is posted somewhere else. I f you have a dvr that records say full d1 (704 x 480) and you have a 550 tvl line camera at (768 x 494) are you really seeing the benefits of a high def camera? Or am i misinterpreting something always wante dto know this. Thanks for any help.

installed DVR had dhcp address no problems IT guy came in made customer change to static ip. No problem enter static ip . Everything is Ok for about a week then dvr will go offline. When I check network settings they are changed but the admin of the DVR is not changing anything. Set it to address again and about week later same problem. Is it me? I don't get it no problem when it was dhcp but like I said the IT guy wanted to change it to static for remote view. Anyone help me out here?

6 month old install rack mounted dvr. Computer guy came over and shut down the entire rack without proper shut down dvr. Getting a error on HD tried reformatting and adding to no avail. keep on getting reformat errors. Tech support stated Have to remove the whole dvr can't just bring back the HD. Anyone have problems with HD's so quick after new install?

I actually have the gum stick camera. You can find it alot cheaper than listed there. Should be around $80 with micro sd card. There are some pros and cons though. pros: extremely small size stick gum, very easy to charge and uplink to computer micro usb and it plays through quicktime. One button recording. cons: mine does not have the clip I see that alot of the newer generation ones do, no timestamp, LED's are bright on front. not good for low light situations.

recently installed a system myself at my building all speco (2) htintb8 (2) htintd8 and a dvr-8tl. Cameras are supposed to be 560 tvl but I dont see the resolution. Images are blurry after fine adjusting in day dusk and night. All OSD functions tweaked, cables are premade less than 100' ran clear. Mounting locations are good. I thought it was just me viweing over the network got blurry. Until I took some snapshots and downloaded thumbdrive right off the dvr. What am I missing? I've read some forums before posting I know the what alot of you guys think about the intensifier function but I would love it if I could just get a clear picture. Back parking lot is extremely dark and when intensifier is on looks like day and no hologram trails. Dvr is recording at 30fps/channel best quality. I dont know what I'm missing please help. Thank you. Have a .avi video sample need to host it but hers a pic attached.

Ok so I finally got a chance to re focus the cameras. I waited until dusk and readjusted this is the best I can get. The only other function I adjusted was the "detail" setting it is like a sharpness setting 0-10 but should be on/off just gives highlight lines to items in picture. The setting was turned off. These are screenshots off the network they are slightly better at the dvr but not much. Still not happy. Any suggestions?

I refocused the cameras multiple times. I have been using a 7" portable dvd player to focus. I called speco tech support they think there is a problem with all 4 camera focus i dont think so. Here is a clip if anyone can help me out appreciate it. looks good on the dvd player than I download a clip or play over network and its no good. leads me to think its the dvr.
