cat6 1000ft 2 cameras??
streethacker replied to streethacker's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Allot of great info Thanks guys! Last question... If I where to use a 24v AC Camera useing cat6 cable...1 pair for video and 3 pairs for Power over 1000ft I would have a voltage drop of 5.1 giving the camera 18.9V AC...Now this is where im getting confused a 24VAC/12vDC camera should work fine because from what ive read the camera takes the AC current and coverts it to 12vDC current at the camera? Is this correct? Now also the same situation above but useing 12v camera..I could use this adapter http://www.active-vision.com/Power-Converter-p/aps-acdc-1500.htm and it would take the 18V AC and covert it to 12vDC? Thanks again! -

jxk716 Im just going to run local power they are on a parking lot light fixture so there is a power outlet in the light we can use... You think 6 inches of dirt should be enough to block the interference? Also on http://www.cat5videobaluns.com/video-balun-troubleshooting-guide.html they say not to use a shielded cat cable.....I would think in this situation a shielded cable would be best? -

jxk716 12v 800ma with IR on. Now im running into another issue..Just found out the company wants to trench the wires with the same wires the Lights are using...I think that will cause interference? They said they can add about 6 inches of dirt and separate the 2 wires but I still think that will cause issues? Would I be right..The lights are like lights in a parking mall.. -

Yah no power I tested it before i even saw every1s post..No power what so ever..Even double up on the wire for power still nothing... Also it seems if i double up on the video wire it doesn't make the video single better makes it worse.. Powered them local all is well and1 set of wires going for video looks great 1000ft... WHat is the max distance for a 12v Power Supply it seems 60ft would be the max distance useing cat6 and that calculator jxk716 posted...Am i correct? Thanks again for every1 posting! -
So I have a job coming up shortly that will be a 1000ft run I figured I would use cat6 for the cable my using some Video Baluns. My question is that they plan on useing 2 cameras in that location being cat6 has 8 wires total I should be able to run 2 cameras off of 1 cat6 wire...BUT will 1000ft be a issue? for power i plan on useing 12vDC, 18 channel, 12amp Power supply...Do you think this will be enough..The video baluns say they can do 1200ft color but they do not say if that is useing all the wire in the cat cable or just 1 pair.. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm not argueing that right now hdcctv is more expensive then IP..all I'm saying is when china gets there hands on it which they are and it starts getting massed produce you will see the prices get lower..also ofcourse the technology will get better if the hdcctv alliance is the standard...I also want to point out a very respectfull poster that has been on here forever said that there is no way high def video will go over coax that if u wanted high deff u needed ip cameras....hmm he was wrong...it is the start of a great new technology and personly I think all you IP lovers are scared of it because if IP did take over allot of your compatition would go away..=) ...o yah by the way I'm net + cert..IP cameras don't scare me they are very nice but I see it as more manufactures get into it the price will lower and the camera sales will go up because there are way more cctv installers afraid of IP cameras and how easy is it to just plug in cameras vs IP...

Well sum it up on here let's see what it cost...now remember I agree with the priceing point but I wana see what your price comes out to and see just how much more NEW technology costs..which we all know it will be more but let's see..

How about this someone please build me a ip system that is able to do 30fps at full resolution 2mp...include all the switches and cableing needed...remember 30fps at full 2mp resolution...100ft run..4 cameras on a 8 channel capable NVR that is able to add 4 more cameras later on that can doa full 30fps at 2 megapixels... Storage is not a factor.

Like i said on this part of the subject I may not know what Im talking about..Yet u do not explain to me why a cellphones 2MP camera wont do for CCTV? Anyways what about the other subjects I pointed on? did we just skip down to the part where i admitted I didnt know what i was talking about...=)

So let me get this straight... HDCCTV requires no compression at the camera making it less expensive to produce the camera. Giving it the ability for the DVR to do the compression and also if any new video codecs do come out it will be useable with that codec. HDCCTV uses traditional Cabling (good quality cable) that is. Easy for a customer to upgrade there old analog system to HD HDCCTV does not need POE switches or High Powered NVRs only needs HD DVR which yes are somewhat expensive at the moment but seriously how many people are making HDDVR? Thats why they are expensive they are trying to make as much money as possible off it. If more players where adapting this technology the prices would come down. HDCCTV wont go down if the network or any switches go down. HDCCTV wont eat up bandwidth on your system..UNLESS you build its own network dedicated for it. To mee it seems HDCCTV will take over..Most of the HDCCTV products are made in Korea at the moment once China (yes cheap china crap as some of you would say ) it will lower the cost of HDCCTV... Dahua is starting to get into it and it looks amazing!!! Now I may not know what im talking about but...My phone has a 2mp Camera in it..It takes AMAZING VIDEO.. iF you look at how much the camera cost http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_much_does_it_cost_to_make_a_cell_phone it is only $20. Put that in a CCTV Camera shell and add HDSDI to it...Seems to me it would be inexpensive to build maybe $50 PER camera..Now like i said I may not know what im talking about but please educate me...

I took the CCD board out of the camera..Would it be on the back of the ccd Board or would I have to desolder the CCD from the board? Thanks for your help!

Is there a way to PHYSICALLY tell what CCD is in the camera by takeing it apart..I dont want to rely on what is on the spec sheet due to all the LIES in this field I Know the Chipset is correct Next Chip 2010 ..But i dont see a way to tell what CCD is in it Ive tried looking for a model number with no luck.. THANKS!

I have seen some cams that have Monalisa Chipset on it but main thing they are showing off is Smart IR (which is a awesome feature) and i dont think that has to do with the Chipset...I have a couple of Hawk chipset cams that claim to be 600TVL and I can tell you one thing they are definitely a nice picture nicest picture i have seen so far it has ICX638BKA CCD and NVP2170 (HAWK) from nextchip..I dont have any cams that have monalisa in it thoe..
