  1. I would like to say that this issue is now sorted out. The Admin password issue was sorted out by reformatting the hard drive and re loading all the software. The corruption of the password was caused by being logged into the DS2 on a computer on my home network and somebody switched off the computer without logging out. Then when I tried to log in from my laptop using a 3g dongle the system was locked and would not let me in. This resulted in the corruption of the admin password. There is a small lesson to be learned here. I have now set up a second Admin account (Admin2) so if this happens again I can log in to the second account and put things right without reinstalling all the software. The second issue was sorted out when a kind soul on here (Jay) sent me his network settings. I copied these into my machine and the problem was solved. Thanks for all the help received Mick
  2. Hello Nick, I have been using a Dedicated Micros ECO 4 machine. The only thing I am not sure about is that it will start recording when motion is detected. But you can programme it to record an event upon motion detection and store it seperately fron all the footage where nothing happens. When you log on you select the cameras and just view any events that have occured. This unit will also e mail you upon any events occuring but you might get fed up with this as it is surprising what can cause an event trigger. My view of this machine is that it is a very capable robust machine with plenty of info available from the Dedicated Micros web site. You can go on to their site & download all the info for this machine. It is also has very good networking facilities. The best part is that you can pick up a great second hand bargain from e bay. Hope this helps Mick
  3. Hello All, I hope some knowledgeable person on here can help me. I have bought a ds2 to replace my ECO 4. I set up all the settings on the new machine the same as the old machine but I can't access the new machine from the internet. The ip is the same and the port codes are the same so the port forwarding details on my Linksys router should still apply. I can access my new machine on my internal network using its ip address. I have been in and out of the ds2 software so many times trying everything. But the last time I tried to access the Network admin software via the Network viewing software I got a message saying incompatable hardware or something like that and then the admin log in stopped working. I have not changed the user name or password but I now can't connect to the Admin side of the software. So really I have two problems Why can't I connect to my ds2 via the internet and how can my password alter on it's own and is there anything I can do to retrieve the situation Regards Mick
