Hello all, I am having some issues with 2 of my 4 VCM-24VFH (with heaters) fogging up in the mornings. This morning it got down to about -10F and one of the cameras even iced up on the inside of the dome. I have checked the heaters and they are working. They also unfog by about 12 noon. I also put fresh gel packs in the cameras before winter started. I have also put a little oil on the rubber gaskets of the cameras to ensure a good seal. Does anyone have any ideas how I can remedy the fogging up issues. Thanks, Mike

I use the Haier 7" unit for my own personal jobs. It works well and is cheap. At work I use a high end unit that can do almost anything but its about 15x-20x the cost of the 7" Haier.

I should of mentioned that I need it to be a 24vac system. Thx

Hello all, I need a recommendation for an 8 channel power supply that can supply at least 1 amp to each channel for cameras with built in heaters. The unit should be a wall mount box unit and hopefully as compact as possible to fit in a tight spot. Please let me know what you think is best. Hopefully around $100 or less. Thanks, Mike

Wondering if anyone has tried the Avermedia Hybrid DVR EH1008H. Looks like an affordable DVR that can do both analog and IP cams. Any experiences or opinions on this unit would be appreciated. Thanks, Mike

Was just doing some searching around the net for wireless solutions for cctv cameras and found this made by Speco : http://www.jmacsupply.com/Speco_WK2502_p/spe-wk2502.htm Anyone know how something like this works good or bad? Thanks, Mike

Yes, power at the camera location is not an issue. Actually there would be two cameras at the location aiming opposite directions.

Hello, Question regarding wireless cameras. Is there a good wireless camera model less then say $250 that can be installed outdoors under an eave and also has a BNC output on the receiver end so that it can be hooked into a regular dvr with bnc inputs. Hopefully the camera would have fairly good resolution like a decent wired CCTV analog camera would have. Thanks, Mike

Hello, I am wondering if anyone has used the Speco covert DVR series and if so what things about it that you liked or disliked. Thanks, Mike

Hello all, I was hoping some of you could recommend for me some decent outdoor rated dome and bullet cameras that have built in heaters. I live in Northern Wisconsin and Temps can get down to -20F sometimes during the night. Cameras without heaters seem to get moisture in them when the temp drops fast during the night or after a snow storm. Would like the cameras to be in the less then $400 range. Some I have seen with heaters are the Samsung SCC-B5393H Dome- $340 range, the Pelco IS310 Bullet-$275-$400 range, and the Everfocus EHD350 and EHD525 Domes-$200-$250 range. Thanks for any opinions! Mike

Hi guys, Thanks for all the responses. I was able to go up to my place in Northern Wisconsin this weekend where I want to have the plate reading camera and I misjudged the distance. I thought the choke point was about 125' away from the garage where the camera would be mounted, but I took a measuring wheel and the choke point is only 85'-90' away. It looks like this may be within the range of a minidome with a 50mm lens, correct? What do you guys think now? Thx!

Thanks guys, I live in Milwaukee but this is for my rec property in Marinette County. I definitly want a dome camera as I do not want the look of a box camera hanging off an arm. It just wouldn't look right in the northwoods of wisconsin. The speco camera I had mentioned before I found out today was a CVC7WMTDV. I am still trying to find out which lens we put inside it though. I guess this speco has a lot more room in the dome for the lens then the panasonic according to what Im told. I may actually reluctantly try the speco due to it being half the price almost and also the fact that I have a soffit to put it under on my garage. The customer we were having a problem with had the camera on a south facing outside wall with no cover so it got beat by the weather all the time. The other we had installed was on a light poll unprotected. I was told today that failure was most likely lightning related damage. Neither of these issues should be a problem for me.

Thanks guys, This is for my own personal driveway at a vacation property not for any customers. I think I will get the Panasonic CW484 with the 50mm lens and see if it works from on the garage to the choke point 125' away. If not I will do a little trenching and mount it on a post next to the choke point. On a side note we had installed a camera for a high end customer on their very large house that reads plates from about 150' away at a specific choke poiint. It was a speco dome camera, but I do not know exactly which one. I heard we have had to replace it twice under warranty. If the camera was durable at all I would probably buy that one but speco's just don't seem to hold up from my experience installing them. Thanks
