  1. OK, I know the Axis cameras and servers can provide their JPEG or MJPEG stream based on standardized address to other devices (in our case Crestron touch panels). Panasonic also supports this from their IP cameras, and in reading Arecont's manuals, they do as well. I read the Bosch manual and could not determine if you could directly access Camera4 for instance from thei Divar DVRs via an address. Similary if I cannot access it straight from the DVR, can it be accessed from a Bosch IP camera directly? Regards, Andy (CCNA, MCSE, Crestron)

Mutiview 8300 only have 1024x768 Resolution

OK... I figured out that on XP you can do it from the download page, but for Windows 7 it always stalls out. Where on the CD are the resolution files? I have a 1.2gig ZIP that I downloaded from worldeyecam, and in the MultiView directory I see no individivual resolution installers.. Do you know if it is possible to copy the installed Resolution definition folders that were installed from one PC to another, if it becomes cumbersome to do the Win7 install? Andy
  3. How can I change the resolution on Multiview 8.3.3 / 8300 from 1024x768 to something else? If I go to settings -> General Display -> Resolution , and hit the drop down, there is no other option.
  4. I have a client who upgraded from an XP machine to a Dell Windows 7 based laptop. When he tried to run Multiview, the buttons are in the wrong spot (often covering up radio buttons or entry areas), and buttons that would have right click type context (New -> Host or Group), do not work.. I am guessing that it is a Java issue? What is the recommended version of Java for Windows 7 and Multiview when connecting to a 8.2 and 8.3 server. -=Andy

What version of Java for Windows 7 and Multiview

Turned out to be screen DPI... In Windows 7 I dropped it to standard, and was able to use the buttons.... after I made all of the adjustments, I changed it to 125 or 150% (can't remember what they increment at), and they had their Multiview working... Only downside is you have to change back to normal DPI to do any real settings changes.
  6. You can try http://www.vitamindinc.com/ ... It is Mac native, and looks pretty interesting.
  7. I work for a high end audio video firm that is expanding into CCTV. To that end, we have a client that wishes to roll out a system with approx 22 cameras. We are looking at a mix of cameras (Arecont 5mp, Sanyo HD4000, ??). In all cases the cameras would be configured for at least 15fps video (at the expense of resolution), I have looked at Milestone, and it seems to be very vendor neutral, but I wanted to see if there were any other vendors out there that I should consider... In particular importance, I need to make sure that the NVR can acommodate all cameras at once. Also it appears that most of the NVRs pass the original IP stream back to the viewer, which is fine in a LAN environment, but I wanted to see if any of the NVRs support recompressing the video stream for WAN viewing. Any, suggestions would be appreciated. Regards, Andy (CCNA, MCSE, Crestron)
  8. Because the client has 12-15fps right now, and notes that the framerate is too low... The same client has a 103" plasma, so he takes his video seriously. The capacity quoted would be RAID usable..... Having managed several RAID arrays in the past that had 60 drives per array, I unfortunately know all about drive failure, but also know that it can be dealt with well by having hot spares, and pro-active in monitoring the array.

    Hello from SoFla

New to the forum. Been in the IT field since the early 90s, where I was a Unix sysadmin (SGI, Sun, HP, Linux) and later became a Cisco router jockey. Took the networking know how, and applied it to the AV/Automation world, where I have since learned and been programming Crestron for the last 4 years when not doing networking tasks. Our company is now getting into CCTV, and since there is so much IT involved in various aspects of it - tag I am it... So I am here to learn all that I can, and contribute what little I know. Regards, Andy

    Hello from SoFla

It has its moments, both good and bad.... We get to work with a lot of cool stuff, but we also have a short deadlines. Andy

Bosch Divar XF - SDK and CLI

Antoine, Thanks for the response... To keep it brief, I needed to see if commands such as the following could be issued via the CLI. Route a camera output (i.e. camera #3) to one of the video outputs? Initate Play, Stop, Pause, Rewind commands of content that is being reviewed? When reviewing content, send a time code to the Divar, to go to a particular time? And finally, from the CLI is it possible to query for things like timestamp info? Thank you, Andy
  13. As I noted in other posts, our company is switching from outsourcing our clients CCTV needs, to handling it internally. I am now looking at our mid range options, and am interested in the Bosch Divar XF. Since we use Crestron control systems, in many of our client installations, I am interested in their CLI and SDK integration. Their CLI, from the sales description at least, sounds right up the Crestron alley, if it will give us the ability to switch camera outs, and manage playback of recorded materials. Has anybody here used the CLI or SDK from Bosch... Also looking in the manual I see a port labeled "Ext IR" which I assume means it can take an external IR remote --- but I can find no mention of this in their documentation or on the web. Anyway, any info on the integration potential of this DVR would be appreciated. Regards, Andy (CCNA, MCSE, Crestron)

    Power over Ethernet

If you are looking for a good PoE switch, the 3com 2426-PWR-PLUS can provide up to 30 watts to a port... It is limited to 180 watts of power across the switch, but we have deployed a bunch of these switches with no issues.
  15. I checked out there cams, and looked at their documentation. They seem to have good resolution, but the frame rate isn't quite where I need it. I also downloaded their manual to see if the 5mp unit could be "detuned" to a slighty lower resolution for a higher ips, but could not tell if it does. With the existing Dedicated Micros system, one of his first comments was the low frame rate he was getting when viewing cameras - his second comment was the quality of the image being poor(we also loop the same analog fee through Axis camera servers for a feed to touchpanels, and the Axis has a nicer presentation of that image). So we wanted error on the side of caution, and go with as high a frame rate as possible. I know that a lot of airports etc. use 15fps as their standard, so we are keeping that as our base level, and going from there. I will check them out.... Good thing I have a couple spare servers laying around to demo this stuff =).
  16. In terms of framerate and resolution I would like to push the Sanyo HD4000 cameras to full 1080p at 24 or 30fps.. The Areconts we were hoping to push at 1600x1200/24fps.... We also considered the Sony SnCDM160 (because it also supports composite out at the same time), @ 1280x960/15fps for some spots. In our particular case, we need both the IP streams and Analog or HDMI streams, so that we can get images back to the NVR, but also route them through Cretron or Extron video switchers for inclusion in panels or on traditional TVs around the house. Storage wise, we were counting on the NVR not always having to record the frames, when nothing is happening, but we also have a fairly healthy budget and can arrange for 20-30TB of attached RAID5 storage. Currently the client has a full analog system, installed by another vendor that uses a Dedicated Micros DVR, and our marching orders were to come up with a Ferrari type system in comparison (he considered the Dedicated Micros to be very VW). Anyway, we are not tied to having a PC based solution (I would be happier with a purpose built device to be honest) - we just need the best performance possible.
