Is the VCM-24VF for outdoor only? Would it be good for a 15ft ceiling? If not, what would you recommend? I need something that will work with Geovision GV800. Thank you very much You can just use DBM-24VF same specs but for indoor use

GV 8.4 missing "Pelco Dome" in drop down list of PTZ Control
edselrt replied to stabbi's topic in Geovision
Yes there is a virtual PTZ controller, as with most DVR software these days. Thats the reason you would be selecting a PTZ dome, is to select a protocol that will work with the PTZ make sense thanks for the quick reply Rory -
GV 8.4 missing "Pelco Dome" in drop down list of PTZ Control
edselrt replied to stabbi's topic in Geovision
Do you need a separate controller to program presets/tours? or is there like a virtual keyboard/controller from Geovision software? My client wants to control the PTZ from his iphone so a separate controller is not needed. I am looking at using this PTZ dome http://www.i3international.com/en/NDB100K_daVinci_Lite.html thanks -
What software is best to display up to 25 screens full screen from a remote PC within LAN? Right now my customer has one GV 1480 with 16 analog cameras connected to it and two Geovision Ip cameras for a total of eighteen cameras. I am going to add three more analog cameras by installing one more GV 1480 card. Total cameras after upgrade will be 21 cameras. He is viewing the cameras from another PC using remote desktop because the DM multiview is limited to 16 or 32 screens only. Is there a remote client software that can have 24 or 25 screens? On another note, Is it ok to add 1 more Gv 1480 card to the existing configuration? thanks

Now, I am having problem with the set up mentioned above. For some reason the pc just reboots itself. I had to keep on restarting multicam everyday. I checked the geohealth.ini and this is the latest entry: SWDogActive=(2011- 6-26 7:37:18). I have checked Windows event viewer and noticed some error logs pertaining to terminal server error such as "the terminal server received a large number of incomplete connections" and also something like "the time service has not able to synchronize the system time for 49152 seconds..."and also "the rdp protocol component x.224 detected an error in the protocol stream and has disconnected the client" There is no error log referring to Geovision software. PC specs are as follows: 1. Intel DX58so motherboard 2. Intel core I7 cpu 920 @ 2.67ghz 3. 4 gb of ram 4. Windows XP pro service pack 3 5. ATi Radeon X1650 series video card Have you guys seen this same problem before? Thanks for your help

Enhance Analog Video Signal without use of any equipment

Just use the bnc loop out connections from DVR -
I dont really understand your problem but you can check the coax cable if it is shorted or broken. Get a VOM and check for continuity or short. Maybe you are having ground loop problem.

Barcode reader.....not magstripe
edselrt replied to CHoffman's topic in General Access Control Discussion
Another solution would be a printable proximity card. He can have the ID layout printed on the card and at the same time use it for member's access. Of course he needs Fargo printer to be able to print. Initial cost is higher but more secured -
That error you get when using IE looks like an activeX problem. make sure you allow activeX installation the first time you connect to that Ip address. When using remote client, Check if ports are being forwarded properly at the dvr side

How can i get a software demo of Avigilon? Im thinking of upgrading my current Netvision set up of 4 analogs. They don't sell to distributors thus i dont have access to pricing and demo. Maybe an authorized Avigilon partner can pm me how much he wants for a software license and provide a demo copy of Avigilon

I thought you can only view 16 cameras simultaneously with standard webcam?

I need your help guys. I could not decide if I will get a camera with a WDR( double scanning CCD) or just a camera with a TDN (true day and night). This is for a residential install. All cameras will be installed outside on a soffit covering the perimeter of the house. I was thinking WDR is overkill for this situation because the lighting is even. At daytime its brighter but I was thinking the auto iris lens would compensate for that. I don't want my customer to spend extra money for something that he doesn't need. Any opinion? Thanks

I just need one camera that monitors the change machine not each washer or dryer. How much would a decent camera cost? We don't need top of the line or even near that. You will need a narrow angle lens probably 24mm. Getting a varifocal lens would make adjusting the camera easier. Cost would be from 230 upwards.

This just shows that most customers don't understand the market. They are use to seeing cameras that are priced so cheap, they think it will satisfy their requirements. But I can't blame them. There are just so many cheap cameras(garbage) being sold on the net or some big retail stores that know nothing about cameras. That's why we are here to educate them

1. One camera to view the dollar bill that is insert to the change machine. You need one camera for each machine BTW, if possible I would like to run the cameras with CAT5 and how exactly would I hook these up to the GeoVision card? use cctv balun..http://www.muxlab.com/products/ve_cctv_mini_balun.html

I guess This is your only option as of now. Can you convince your client to increase the bandwidth?
