  1. Hi, I am a bit confused when it comes to calculate viewing angles. Have used several lens calculators and they talk about "reading direction" When I change this value the viewing angle change lots. Could anyone pls explain how this works? What will I get when I buy a camera? I'm looking for a outdoor camera with IR and at least 80 degrees viewing angle. Will a 1/3 CCD with 4.0 be enough, or is 3.6 or 2.8 needed? Thanks much, Roger
  2. Thanks much, So in most cases only the horizontal is important, for some the vertical? Cannot see many having use of the diagonal. The confusing part is some camera resellers claim the diagonal value and doesn't mention anything else while others claim the horizontal. One example is 1/3 CCD with 6.0 mm (=43.6 deg horizontal, 53.1 deg diagonal) and they claim 60 deg. Could this even be possible? Can you create a standard camera that can handle larger angles than the above? Thanks again Roger

    Avtech 792

Hi, I'm just about to buy a new CCTV system for my home. Have been looking around and think the Avtech 792 would be enough for me. Does anyone have anything for/against it? I want it to record if/when anyone enters my property and don't need 25/30 frames per second. Would guess 5 fps/s would be enough for my needs. Important is that it will send my phone a message with a picture so we can tell if there is a problem or not. I have both a Blackberry bold and HTC/Qtech with Win mobile. Plan to have a 250 GB disk in it as I only need 2-3 weeks of video and it will only be motion detection. Also when you have motion detection on, for how long will it record when activated. Thanks much Roger
  4. Hi, I'm looking for a good place/website in the US where I can order an AVC 792 or AVC 796 online? I am located in Sweden but travel to the US very frequently. Reason is of course price and availability of the AVC 792/796. I understand the 792 works both with NTSC and PAL? A plus would be if I could buy the powersupply with european standard I'm looking for a system with 4 or 8 outdoor cameras with IR func and max range of about 25 m to the object. Would need different lenses as some areas need more wide angle lenses than others. Do you have any recommendation of "good" cameras for max $300/each Thanks much
