you will neer to port forward your router. in firwall you need to add 5550 then assign it to the ip of your dvr. quick demo for you. http://www.wonderhowto.com/how-to/video/how-to-setup-basic-port-forwarding-for-a-verizon-fios-router-271560/
-
HI first dont load any software onto yopur laptop. the dvr will do that once you have a connection. on your dvr screen click setup and click network there you will see your dvr ip (local) make a note also you will see port if this is not 5550 then change it till it is. now log on to your router and portforward your dvr ip to 5550. restart everything and that sould be it. to log on from your local network this will be done by using your local ip. http://yourip:5550 from another area you will need to know your external ip. go to google and enter my ip. make a note of the ip and use that when away from your network http://yourexternalip:5550.

with rg59 you do not need the baluns. just remove them and connect your cameras with standard bnc. then see if your footage is ok.

come on rory (have you had a long day) the guy is masking the true cost buy masking the barcode of the bottle with a choc bar. bad staff do this when serving friends or family.

the vsi pro is not pelco. it is american video equipment. and if its text over video then you dont need to connect it to your dvr. i have done many vsi pro over the years. http://www.avethailand.com/products/vsi-pro.htm

You make me smile. The card with CIF was for testing and installed for free The cards I am buying are 4CIF and display is always 4CIF real time - no matter what you record. I have a few years of experience too and I am not ignoring any info I am getting here. The quality is very important - I agree and I think you got a wrong picture of what I am buying/doing. KOOLMER. this is your quote from earler post. The only reason that I use only CIF currently is that the card that I have only does CIF. I got it from the same co-worker for free, as he had no use for it anymore. I had a Comart Hicap-100 before that cost me a fortune a few years ago. The CIF H.264 hardware encoding card from Hik has better quality. The image is also clearer if compared to the 2CIF recording from Comart. Not sure about 4CIF. first you say cif then 4cif you must drive your customers mad.

the vsi is text overlay. you dont connect it to the dvr at all. if you are looking to put the data onto your dvr. you will need a pos box (to convert the data) then you can link it to your dvr. and you wont need the vsi. what make is your dvr ???

1080p with cif your customer will not be happy with the picture on the screen. i am with rory WHY WHY IN CIF why build an old system you have had some very good advice on here from people with years in the industry. but you wish to ignore it. from reading all your posts what i can make out is you are an installer selling cheap chines systems and now you are looking to build your own to make it even cheaper. what a way to run a buisness (cheap out of date dvrs) i will just leave you with this note Koolmer. a good installer has what is called a duty or care to its customer. i.e a system that does the job it is intended to do. to protect staff and property. with good back-up service from the installer. with cheap build your own chines systems this can never be done.

Integrating Retail POS system with DVR
tomcctv replied to SambaNoodles's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Hi SambaNoodles. if you have not done pos before you will find it hard and also it would be hard to give instructions on here. Geovision do an add on pos box which connect up to the epson but you will need to start making connecton leads. and this is were you need to know what you are doing. but they is another way. ave are the world leaders in pos data. tell them the till manufacture and they will send you out a unit that is plug and play. http://www.americanvideoequipment.com/vsimax.pdf -
What do you mean? I have also checked Everview and Linovision, but if I buy the card from Netvision I get the Netvision Software for free with the card and I just mentioned before that the Netvision Software is the best one I have found for Hikvision cards. Besides that Netvision is not more expensive than the other Hikvision suppliers, but deliver better Software (imo). I have been working with Comart DVR cards for a few years, but the Comart Software is really poor compared to Netvision. I havent tried Geovision or Avermedia - they are just too expensive with hardware encoding. Why pay 2500$ for a card from Avermedia if the Hikvision card does the same for 560$? Better support? I can buy 3 Hikvision cards instead of 1 Avermedia and still save money.[/quote $2500 for avermedia card. avermedia dont ask anywere near that price someone has been giving you bad advice. and the aver does alot more than the cards you have been looking at.

well the forum is a place to get advice and i have given you mine. and it sounds like you have not built a dvr before. but you still wish to buy from china. they has been alot of people who come on the forum after buying cards from china and ebay only to find the best place for it is the bin. other problems you will have are / does the pc you are going to add the card to have the spec for the card/ cards have to come with the drivers for that card (if not just bin it) then software and manual (oops yours will come in chinese) munchoa you say , I know support could be a bit of a problem you will get no support once they have your money its not there problem.
-
Hi munchoa. looking to buy cheap will only be the first of many problems. and remember they are 1000s of clone cards about. even more of a problem. you say you would prefer chinese. thats fine if you are in china. and you speak the lingo. but if you dont THINK OF SUPPORT when you start to build your dvr and you get into problem who are you going to call. pay a bit more for your card from a good supplier. it will save you time and alot of money.

if you are in the uk you will find this to be a good price.http://www.avermedia.com/AVerDiGi/Product/Detail.aspx?id=70

Mid-sized small business -- retail -- best solution?
tomcctv replied to hendrickx's topic in System Design
if you wish to remain friends with your customer then stay away from installing that system. you would be best spending as much on the dvr as possable and adding to it over time. remember cheap systems are cheap and dont get better. the other option would be to install just 4 ip axis cameras. or the mobotix q24. -
yes its the same. but you also can add an extra cat5 so you can zoom in or preset an area around your car and it will automatic zoom when someone goes near it. i will pm you. you are in the uk ?? what area are you.

Hi ginogag. just sent you the reset code by email.

Hi prosniper. the camera you have listed will not do what you are looking for(it is good for close-up images) for what you need the camera to do you will not get from maplins. if the distance is 20m away then i would look at a 50 to 70m range ir camera with varifocal lens. with around 540tv lines colour/650tv lines in black&white. i use this type all the time. http://www.koreacctv.com/eng/images/item/571_n.pdf

used to control sensors/pir for ptz or alarm contacts to move your ptz to that location and also control the switching on of lights or anything that has no/nc contacts.

orange will change your ip every day so if they dont give you a static ip then you will have to set up a ddns account (most are free) to hold your ip address. if you are not used to networking you will find it to be hard work. what part of the country are you in. ??? -

can you tell me what model from maplins. and what type of router do you have. so i can send you the info. -
yes it does. the pos is built into the dvr it is not an add on. so it is always on the screen. or you can hide it from the staff and only showing on your laptop.
-
it will run on everything except MAC. smartphone/pda/mobile windows/iphone. but not mac. you could always run both o/s on your mac.
