Hard drive faulty? OYN-X NVR
tomcctv replied to All the gear no idea's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Hi. It does not matter how you explain it the outcome is going to be the same go back to your first post I said the app is too old. It has not been updated for over 3 years and it won’t be you setup your nvr with the qr code……. This takes you to a server that controls alarm notifications….. but no longer supported…. It has come to the end of its life i did say send the recorder back and get the viper Your apple devices will of worked up till the last apple update .(14 days ago) NOT app update but phone update also the app on iOS will be removed soon as no data policy has been added this is why I said in earlier posts don’t waste money only to have to buy again however…… you can still setup motion and alarms on the recorder and it will send you notifications via email …. (Which most modern systems do now) -

hi which mobile are you using are you iOS or android your right it’s an app problem … I have been saying from the start the app is too old and no longer supported by qvis mobile phones / pads and PCs update often and apps must keep up with there updates if you are using a Samsung then you have more problems to come but for now … go into app look for notifications and make sure they are switched on i don’t understand you saying you never had to setup motion…… this is something you need to setup -

Hi. SATA is the type of hard drive sata ? Will be your main and only hard drive sata x means a hard drive is not connected not that I think it’s going to do you any good… but your next step is to go into menu and click factory re-set and then try to format again But only 3 months old I would return it and get the viper i would also ask the question way was it sold to you in the first place knowing it had no updates or app updates since 2019 i see on there website that if you bought everything seperate 4 cameras 1 nvr it comes to nearly £700 buy the same as a kit and it’s £380 with 2tb hard drive …. Shows it’s end of line brand new viper with hard drive is £270 -

Hard drive faulty? OYN-X NVR
tomcctv replied to All the gear no idea's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Hi ok both camera and nvr are 2019 if you remove the hard drive or just unplug it in the unit and then startup your system you will see it do the same as now …. No recordings which points to hard drive but like I said in post if it is the hard drive you would be better replacing the recorder only as cameras are good there is not much difference in price of hard drive vs nvr that link you posted shows same recorder at £385 with HD …. But same problem app is coming to an end the updated nvr is around £255. With HD if you have a old pc … use that hard drive and format it once you install into nvr if you rely on alerts then a nvr using SuperLive plus … which is the best app made you have full control over nvr with the app including camera settings -

Hi June was not a update it was a privacy statement and it only applied to android App Store was not updated with privacy statement so it’s still 4 years old even on play store the last review was 2021 i know every qvis system in and out been using them for 18 years the name Kestrel is on a number of there systems which is why I first asked the app you was using …… some kestrels are xmeye or dahua or TVT….. kestrel viewer being the oldest Your hard drive will show usage even if no recordings are your cameras Poe …. Direct into nvr ? you might need to re-add your cameras to each channel it is also worth looking at how it’s setup …. It should always be on motion record …. Alarm notification is something you add on the camera channel -

tomcctv replied to All the gear no idea's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Hi ….. for a system 3 months old …… did you buy yourself or installer ? the kestrel app is old ….. no updates in 4 years also 4K cameras (8mp) will not be running 4K on that system so will only be running 5mp i would also agree with you that it’s starting to look like hard drive issues with you getting the noise but it’s which way you go ….. try new hard drive or buy new nvr with hard drive nvrs are not expensive we’re are you based -

Hi it’s just a rebrand hikvision it’s also a bit overpriced from them and not have the same support…… cheaper to buy from hikvision and depends on what country your in with all the hik problems -
Hi. The problem is the age of your equipment…… your transmitter and receiver are around 18 years old (I have old ones in my lockup) then you will have problems with your usb recorder …. Again too old …. It’s a basic cif recorder. But the problem is if you don’t have the drivers that came with the USB recorder …. The software then again you will be wasting time and money…. You may also have a licence problem when loading onto a pc or laptop by the time you have bought the power supplies you need for all camera and another for each of your transmitter and receiver mall you will end up with is a poor system

Standalone 4CH DVR recordings on unused channels?
tomcctv replied to svaljak's topic in System Design
There is a software to use if a serious crime and footage is needed in courts then the software is used to see if any footage has been altered such as timeline hidden in the channels software…. It’s called watermark signature is virtually the same but across all channels. …… if there is a break in either then footage has been tampered with the software we have will do 90% of recorders in some countries watermark and signature is needed for insurance approval for the likes of high end product sales and banks -
Standalone 4CH DVR recordings on unused channels?
tomcctv replied to svaljak's topic in System Design
Hi. This is because you have all 4 channels selected as in use……. Camera or channel in camera settings as on …. No camera used on channels should be switched off from recording the metadata you are seeing is the watermark and electronic signature which you can’t stop as it’s also looking for data on active channels -
Hi then don’t buy hikvision or dahua you will be wasting your money if in the uk. last few weeks it’s been band in government and council areas …… and now looks like hotels bars and clubs only this morning some uk company offered me 8mp dahu cameras for £12 each what part of uk are you in
-
Hi that is not much of an upgrade 8mp at 8fps ….. is going backwards what country are you in ?
-
Hi it could be a few things how are you powering the camera …. Size of power supply and also the distance from camera to power supply is it on its own power supply or are there others attached to it that recorder is very limited to what you can run on it hence why hikvision budgets range it’s a $50 unit channels 1 and 2 are the only channels you can use 3mp max on the rest are 1.3 and 2mp also do you have it set to tvi ?
-
Hikvision is now banned in the uk. Yet private systems still available All government building including schools colleges police stations and public space cameras used by government and local councils other countries are starting to follow
-
Hi. The pelco power supply again is old 2007 24v is not used anymore except for large ptz cameras 12v is the standard now or Poe on network cameras pelco was a good name but not on old equipment and on sites such as eBay pelco holds there price but old and waste of money how many cameras and what budget do you have in mind
-
Hi if you have already bought the secondhand units then I would say you have wasted your money and paid more than I new system would of cost the dvr you have listed is 2008 so to old for remote viewing as it is not supported anymore have you bought the equipment already ?
-
Hi. Can I ask some personal details first ? your email … your bank details …. Type of mobile device and its serial number and your full name and address I would also like to track your mobile phone ………. I can guarantee your answer is 100% no so why would you give that to a China server….remember you have no legal action in China to protect yourself yes putting a few cables in takes a few hours but you end up with a real cctv system and not one controlled via a 3rd party and you own it at the moment your just looking for a camera …. No security issues as of yet ….. but your first action is to give so much of your personal data away which straight away you have a security problem read this first then deside which is best https://m.reolink.com/privacy-policy/ also google who owns reolink and also reolink using my data

.exe file extension for recording backup
tomcctv replied to videobruce's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Hi AVI is used widely still in the industry and both speci and Samsung still use it in both its still standard when backing up files MAS far as going open source software then footage in courts can’t be used … police also won’t load footage on the computer networks by using a open source -
Sorry none of your pictures are compliant yes that cheap multi core cable has coax BUT not 75ohm ……. Then you use made up bnc cables that does not have coax it’s just 0.75 wire so your defeating the object using cat5 with baluns is better and cheaper you are just putting lipstick on a pig
-
So no coax insight ?? Twist any cable together 75ohm cable is needed which is standard for cctv done in coax standard cable 100 ohm which you have used is not good for quality
-
Hi 5mp analog will not work on ground loop isolation 5mp cameras will be HD analog ……. How are your cameras wired up can you post a picture of bnc and also the power supply
-
Hi. Are you using all 16 channels on dvr ? and what is your budget
