    desktop problems

Sometimes DVR software requires the new netframework updates. If that is what yours needed, after the install and restart windows SP3 username and password tripped out. This is assuming you use windows and SP3 and DVR software. I had that issue with Avermedia DVR after install, but was able to get in and Google "turn off password SP3" and turned it off straight away. Good Luck!

under car/vehichle 2 camera system help

Interesting, I just got done with a two week academy on bombs, especially revolving around the Indonesian issues. Since I have a little insight into the bomb mentality, I will offer my advice since I already helped spec out a security camera plan for a jurisdiction on a border. I would say you need to answer a few basic questions that I didn't see in the original post or the subsequent responses. 1. Is there an existing system and is it upgradable? (You said they are an existing customer) 2. Do the searches happen 24/7? 3. Do the cameras need to be explosion resistant, or are they expendable if a given incident occurs? Off the bat I would tend to agree that Megapixel is the way to go, but with a high FPS to compliment. Arecont ones tend to boast some of the highest FPS out there for medium budgets, although I don't like working with them since the features really leave some things to be desired. You stated that the client is looking at 2 cameras to cover the job. It would be nice for them to allow for 2 lower-than-grade holes in the driveway area for installers to put any camera you choose on articulating arms, should slight tweaks in angles be needed. If blast protection is required, plexi or armored transparent glass could be installed over the mounts. Look for a camera/lense combo that is IR sensitive at the very least, for additional IRs to be added if lower lighting is not good; but I would hope they would also add a diffuse spotlight in the driveway as well to illuminate the underbelly of the vehicle. That light could be hooked to a relay and controlled by the security staff if needed, from any PTZ controller or software based controller. I think a 1.3 to 3.1 megapixel camera would do the trick, with a lense that gives a horizontal view of about 75 degrees or so. That would allow for digital zooming in on areas tucked near the runningboards or next to the gas tank area. I would imagine that a front to back design would be preferable as opposed to both sides, and having an overlap in viewable coverage from front to back. A little insight into the practices regarding bombs in those countries now: Most of the major movements, polictical or otherwise have had training in one form or another from prominent bomb making organizations. The most prominent in that region is the IRA. Now that region is seeing initial bombs going off to summon emergency responders, and then a few minutes to hours after, a second device goes off to kill said responders. There is growing evidence that IEDs are now being built into emergency use equipment like fire extinguishers and the like. Car bombs are still primarily placed in the trunk, whether they be explosive or deflagrating/incendiary. Best regards...hope it works out. There is no surefire way to protect against such occurrences, but upgrading a place into a harder target is always a good option.

Consider using Avermedia?? think twise !!!

I had issues as well with the 7.7 SP1 software initially, but that was with 2 6480 cards. I found with 7.7 it was a little trial and error on installing it for 7.3. That being said, if there is a driver issue popping up, your card drivers are most likely still installed in windows (something I found out after the fourth install). I also had choppy video on one camera running in D1 resolution, but an IP camera patch solved that. Avermedia all in all is a pretty good product to work with, and I am starting to see distributors stating that the FPS rating are for D1 and below due to so many people complaining that the cards are not performing to what was advertised. Let it be known that Avermedia is not the only manufacturer that does this, in fact, most of all the major manufacturers do the same thing in stating the maximum performance capabilities. If the manufacturers stated all the possible configurations with all the cameras they supported, the manuals or product information pages would be many. In part, this is what this forum is for, to give would be buyers, distributors and techs the inside scoop on pitfalls or limitations before purchase or installation. For a $20k project install, I would have expected to see a 6480 card on a Vostro or something hand built to save money off Aver's support list, that way you would not have to had to worry about a second possible failure point or throughput issues on the PCI bus in the computer. For a $2000 build, it would have been a better solution IMO. In addition, the client would have had room to add cameras, which they would probably have called you to do. Since you didn't state the specific chipset on the motherboard, is it supported on the list by Avermedia? That is one thing I can truly complain about is their tight chipset limitations, but let's face it, these surveillance products are really not something for the run of the mill computer gamer or businessman. The special nature of them requires the same dilligence as DVRs and NVRs, on stable platforms.

    Windows 7 and NV6480

Anyone running Win 7 with these cards yet? I see Aver site says the 7.7 software is supported.
  6. Hey all, I just noticed, when getting ready to do a "Dog and Pony" show for all the big wigs that any segmented and saved video in .dvr format since I upgraded to the newest software version with Ipcam patch .46 will not play in any earlier version of Qplayer, Istable or Ienhance. I downloaded the things from the Aver site again and reinstalled, but it seems those files are for the 7.3 version. Anyone have any newer versions that they know work? I can save the Qplayer with the .DVR files from our camera computer, so not all is lost at this time, but it sure would be nice to use Ienhance and such. Also since the upgrade in software versions, I can no loner right click and drag to zoom in on recorded video from our 5.0MP cameras. In addition, our 3.0MP camera footage in playback seems to zoom really weird. Like when you right click and drag a red box on a section of the picture and it will zoom into a different part of the picture other than the box. Live view zooming is just fine, and operates as expected. Anyone else noticed any strange stuff like that? On the up side, the 1.3MP cameras and playback footage perform as expected.

Anyone having issues with 7.7/6480EXP cards?

Looks like I fixed most of the little issues previosly mentioned. You know, looking back at the last couple weeks, Avermedia should have an installation readme in the download. It wouldn't have to be much, but could have things like simple uninstall instructions and the new install procedure. I was able to figure it out, but would have been a bit faster with a guide for sure. The IQeye 755 is still really sensitive on the regular motion setting, but if I setup zones, the sensitivty numbers are more like they were in the 7.3 software. The Arecont 3100M we have doesn't like Avermedia much, or maybe it is the other way around. It seems if I raise the FPS to 15, like I would like it to be and have the quality higher than 8, it goes into video loss at the full 3MP resolution. May be a firmware thing though. I am still pretty impressed with Avermedia considering the bandwidth I am throwing at it. Happy Holidays all
  8. Hey guys/gals, Was just wondering what everyoine thinks about the version 7.7 software and the 6480 cards. I have been having a few problems with a couple cameras since the upgrade. I will detail the issues after the system specs. Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P LGA 775 P45 ATX Mobo Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 Yorkfield running stock at 2.83GHZ EVGA 512-P3-N973-TR 9800GT Video Card PC Power & Cooling PPCT860 860 watt PSU Corsair Dominator 4GB (4x1GB) 240 Pin DDR2 1066 RAM Western Digital WD5000AAKB 500GB Ultra IDE HDD (OS only) 3 x Western Digital WD1001FALS 1TB SATA 3.0GB/s Drives (data) 2 x NV6480EXP DVR cards All in a Lian Li PCA70B Full Tower case 2x Acer X223WBD 22" wide screen monitors Running Avermedia Software version 7.7.0.0015SP1 IP Camera patch version .46 Win XP Pro SP3 (all updates) Problems I am having since the upgrade from 7.3 version are as follow: 1. IQeye 755 5.0MP camera is constantly picking up motion without any motion in the live view at over 35% motion detection. (This is different than the 75% it was always set at in 7.3) 2. Arecont 3100M 3.1MP experiences video loss a lot now, but I can connect to the camera via internet browser and obtain a perfect live feed. 3. Arecont 1300M 1.3MP is now more sensitve to pixels moving as well, forcing the motion sensitivity to be scaled down. Where are the instructions with the 7.7 software? I see they added some features, but didn't include any instruction .PDF in the download. Face Finder looks cool, but doubt we will ever use it. There are other little UI differences and a few other selectable things that may be a help if they told us what the did. What are your thoughts all?

    Replace NV7000H with .....

Probably has to do with the NV6480EXP being PCI-E 1x which gives it a speed boost over the PCI NV7480 card. I guess paying for the newer technology slot idealism is in effect.

    NV7480 Card

You are correct, the NV7480 is not an EXP card, therefore it is PCI interface. And no you would not be able to put the card in a Video PCI Express slot. So I think you are on the right track with the hardware compression card to lower system resources. I would still build a rig from Newegg with the hardware compatibility list on Aver's site to be sure of chipset compatibility. You can probably get away with a dual core Intel as well, but for the price you may find it just about as comparable as a quad core. Only limitation of that card it seems is that it is in a slower bandwidth slot (PCI) as compared to the higher speeds in the PCI-E x1 or x4 slots. I do; however, believe you would not realize any noticable slowdown if you had two capture cards side by side on a desk. The information shows that you can stack two of those cards if need be to get 32 channels, so if that is a future goal then make sure you have two unobstructed PCI slots to use after you put in the video card, becuase you know about the major complaint regarding the bigger PCI-E video cards or the double slot ones is that a PCI slot at least normally becomes covered.

    42 Megapixel card Limitation

So two software upgrades ago I saw a funny little limitation note pop up that had me worried a bit for future system expansion. Starting with the software version 7.5 and now with Aver's new 7.7 version the limitations lines saying 42 megapixel in total per system... I sent a forum question copied below with the Avermedia response from USA: Mother Board Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P Mother Board Chipset P45 CPU & Speed Intel Q9550 2.83GHZ System Memory Corsair 4GB (4x1gb) 8500C5D Video Card EVGA 512-P3-N973-TR Sound Card Onboard System Type Desktop PC Operating System Windows XP Professional Product NV6480 Express x2 (32 Channels) Problem/Symptom Other Have you visited our FAQ site? Yes If yes, but... The answer isn't there. " This Question's Message Your message on Sat, 31st Oct 2009 4:54 pm I am inquiring about the 42MP limitation that is in the last two software upgrade release notes. Seeing as I have two NV6480EXP cards, which are working as advertised, I am worried that the 42MP limitation will become a problem in the future for our college campus. We currently have a total of 8 IP cameras, 7 of which are 1MP-5MP totalling 13MP. We have future plans to purchase at least 7 more 5.0MP cameras, which will bring the total over the 42MP limitation that you state. My question is why the limitation exists, especially for systems that can hold 32 channels? Even if we had only one DVR card at 16 channels, we would not be able to have each channel with 5.0MP cameras on them with the limitation. My second question is, when might we expect a software fix/upgrade to use more than 42MP? By the way, you can add the system's motherboard, ram, video card and cpu to the list of things that work with your NV6480EXP cards in tandem. We have had no problems with any of the hardware being compatible. Thank you for your attention to these questions. Message by danl on Mon, 2nd Nov 2009 10:01 am Dear Customer, At this time we are requesting that our R&D help us in putting together a hardware sheet of different hardware they test so we can post it on our website. Please be patient until this information is created for us. As for the limitation on the total number of Megapixel, I have not heard if it is possible for us to go over 42MP at this time. From what they are telling us is that that is the max the card will be able to handle at this time. The best way in your case is to use 2 systems and use our CM3000 software to monitor the 2 systems. That will be the ideal and easiest way to have more than 42MP at this time. Sorry for the inconvenience. -- -- *NOTE* Please do not reply to this email as it will not be answered. Please login to the website to submit replies or requests. Regards, Customer Care AVerMedia USA " I currently have a followup question for Danl asking if the limitation is card specific, then it should be possible to assign any cameras in excess of the 42 megapixels on the first 16 channels (#1 NV6480EXP) to the second set of 16 channels (#2 NV6480EXP) without having the drop the second card into another box and deal with another (different) managing software like the proposed CM3000. Stay tuned

    42 Megapixel card Limitation

Ok heard back from Aver again regarding tandem cards in one system. They say that 2 6480EXP cards, or any other cards in tandem totalling 32 channels act like SLI video cards do and the system sees the cards as one. This simply means that 42 megapixels is the extreme max as they state, but they still have not told me what happens if you exceed that. I agree Avermedia should state the limitation in something other than software release notes, like in the friggin manual would be nice. At least something telling a would be buyer of the limitation.

    42 Megapixel card Limitation

Yes I knew that the output resolution of the IQ755 camera would be bottlenecked by the software before purchasing. The rationale was that for our campus the endpoint cameras be the best Megapixel quality that we could afford at the time. This was justified by our campus knowing that in the future we would most likely upgrade to a different software that would be purchased and most likely require annual license fees. Currently we are able to capture and export 1920x1200 images and video, which is more than enough for our needs at this time. We also coupled that resolution ability with 8-80MM lenses for nice tight shots if we need to retask any of the cameras. Seeing as the resolution supported is a function of the software, and the fact that Avermedia is continuing to expand and recode the software with the changing market trends to megapixel technology; it stands to reason that in the future they will update the software with 5-8MP resolution support. In fact, after the latest IP camera support patch, our IQeye 755 live camera views seem to have gone up a tad since we can now see the time index on the bottom left of the screen, where we could not before the patch.

Avermedia NV3000 - trying to get IP camera to work

I guess the bang-your-head way about it would be open up channel 1, power the camera and verify that the IP address is on the same set of domain numbers and then go down the list in the IP address model/maunfacturer section and hit search devices. It will be a lot of searching, but without knowing what manufacturer of the camera it is, you are kind of stuck. I have seen a little quark with the 7.3 Aver software when adding IP cameras that when you select all the appropriate things on the window and type in the right IP address and the port, and hit ok. The little box saying connecting appears and no error comes to pass, but there is still no live video in the little window until you exit out of the camera IP setup window. Make sure there is no username or password to the camera via web login, if so then you will need to add that into the IP camera setup at the bottom.

    NV6480e Jitters

I thought 7.5 did not support NV6480 by their limitation in the release notes... "Limitation] 1. First 10 seconds of each hour would be recorded under motion recording status 2. H264 compression needs more CPU resource and will reduce the FPS per channel 3. OSD control is not supported under dual monitor environment 4. IP camera installation is limited up to 8 channels for NV5000 system 5. NV6000 series is not supported in this version 6. Up to total 42 mega pixel resolution for all IP camera channels could be installed in one system AVerMedia INFORMATION, Inc."

    NV5000 8ch + IP cam question

Anyone see that user notes for the newer software downlaod that says maximum of 42 MP per software? I am not sure if that is the NV5000 only or all the cards. "Limitation] 1. First 10 seconds of each hour would be recorded under motion recording status 2. H264 compression needs more CPU resource and will reduce the FPS per channel 3. OSD control is not supported under dual monitor environment 4. IP camera connection is limited up to 8 channels for NV5000 system 5. Up to 42 mega pixels resolution in total for all IP camera channels could be connected in one system" I am running 2x NV6480EXP cards (32 channels) all IP cameras 3MP-5MP each, and this is making me wonder if they will be subject to the 42MP thing. I am hoping it is for the 8 channels on the NV5000 since that would make more sense 8x5=40MP Anyone else hit a max problem with MP yet?

    Motherboard Compatability

Just wanted to let everyone know that the Gigabyte motherboard GA-EP45-UD3P works with dual Avermedia 6480EXP cards with no problems. This motherboard is not on Aver's compatability tested list, but is a brother of the same general P45 chipset group. Interestingly enough our first 6480 card looks different than our second card as far as where the watchdog pins and other pinouts are located on the card. Perhaps an updated design, who knows. Best regards

    Motherboard Compatability

I would be willing to bet that the G45 chipset is to blame on that. Avermedia is a bit slow it seems on chipset compatibility. I think you would be best served staying in P or X series of chipsets. I can say that they seems to work well with the latest southbridges, both 10 and 10R. I researched Dell before building the current computer, and it seemed that they didn't have the availability in what Avermedia needed until I looked at the T5400 and 7400 boxes, which were way too expensive. Hope you can find a fix.

    Backup QPlayer issues

So has anyone had any issues with the backup function? I have a 6480EXP card and using the .13 software, and until now every other part of the software has worked great for my purposes; but when I tried the backup function and then burned all the files to a CD-R, it does not seem to play the video on a different computer. I think it is a codec issue, but I don't understand why the manual, or the software for that matter, gives one the ability to choose the QPlayer program to be included in a backup of video, but then it not use the codecs that go along with it. The manual also says that when you use the backup and choose to include the player, it should also include the Qlogviewer. I noticed in the Backup window that the little check box only says "Include Player when backup" and nothing about the Logger. I really would like to figure this Player issue on other computers since that seems to be a better choice for archiving data that I have to send to Police Departments. That would give them the ability to take snapshots and such a little easier than in a Windows Media Player setting, plus it is faster than converting MBs of data to AVI or MPeg. Thanks for any suggestions... Backup QPlayer issues

OK problem solved. I tested the Qplayer application on multiple computers and it only presented itself on our main processing computer for reports and arrests and such. It turns out that the computer in question is the only one in the department that has a radeon card in it, and the driver version was 1.5 years old. It should be noted that all our computers running Nvidia drivers up to 2 years old work flawlessly with the Qplayer. Qplayer did not work with a Radeon 2400XT card running driver version 8.473.0.0 for reference, but seems to be working with the newest driver 9.7. Thanks for your help, I bet I will have some more questions when the second 6480EXP card gets here tomorrow.

    Backup QPlayer issues

I get the UI that comes up and the time index starts running in the player. The only thing I don't get is the video in the little viewable squares. There is a briefed line that flashes in the back square when playback starts, but then nothing. The files that the backup function puts into the backup folder are as follows: Folder: Current Date - with DVR files Folder: BMP Folder: Language .dll files: Audiodec AVSCodec51 decode deinterlace ijl15 IPCJD20 MPEG1Encoder NVDH50 NVDHE50 NVDMD50 NVDME50 Postprocess XRYpassd backup - config settings Qplayer - config settings WM - BIN file Qplayer.exe Hope this helps. It does seem that everything works except that there is no video when the player plays the .dvr files. I can get the Qplayer.exe to play videos on the computer that has the full Avermedia program installed on it that saves the data, but no other computer that I copy the backup folder onto.
