  1. I sort of figured it would be tough. They actually are considering replacing them... But you know, the low end units share so much similarity, I almost expect some may come from the same OEM designer in China. I'm sure it would be easy for a programmers to make each brand have something unique to block others from connecting. Thanks Charles
  2. I have a customer with a variety of low-end dvr's in multiple stores, they are networked, and each can be viewed remotely. Those that are the same brand can be set up so the remote software can switch between them, or even view multiple locations at once, I believe. But the different brands cannot see each other. Is there any software, or way to get the remote software to be able to log in to multiple brands? (brands include Costar and Digimerge, and probably some others). Thanks Charles
  3. VLC is what I use most of the time. But the slide bar didn't seem to update with .avi or some other files I was using. I'll take a look at the codec packs. Thanks
  4. I would like to find good playback software that is well suited for CCTV reviewing. Most playback software seems more designed for sitting back and watching a movie. I would love to find something with a jog-type feature to help scroll to a desired frame. You get a sliding bar with most players, but you do not see the image change until you stop and hit play again. The Speco player program I have does not even have a sliding bar at the bottom. So if you are reviewing a file, for instance, you can fast forward, but if something catches your eye, it would be great to be able to scroll back to that spot and see what was there, then sort of zero in on a frame to save or print out. The applications I have are for security, where we may need to review various actions of people in the recording. Anyone know of something that fits this description? Thanks Charles

    New from NY

Hi, new to the forum. I've been working with CCTV since 1978, and running my own business since 1995 - Telecom, Data, and Video. Located in Westchester County NY I still remember the huge Ultracon "low light" cameras at the ISC in '78. Now working on some corporate covert video installations with the camera about as big as my thumb. Charles
