Well if this is that same $150 dollar budget for a day/night camera, yeah, forget it. If the camera is going to be used outside around the clock then your best hope would be the cheapest dome you can find that can operate in a fairly well lit area, but for $150 you have one real challenge on your hands. Like it was mentioned before you probably should speek to these people again and let them know the lmitations. People who are usually that cheap are usually the ones that end up being your biggest service calls so you end up losing money any way. I am just speaking from personal experience as a businessman.

Well what type of chip are they using in those Sanyo domes. I know it is an interline transfer CCD, but how do you compare those? Why does the Sanyo see so good in low light compared to these other domes? They just have better lenses?

Don't need to read it. Monsanto is the Biggest genetic engineer on the planet. I saw a special. Many plants have been genetically altered and they are doing more all the time. I can't be a veagan if I tried. I can hardly conrol my diet as it is. I bought some candy yesterday and was trying to just ration it out a little at a time. Yeah right! I just got through eating a whole bag of spree, now I feel sick.

Yeah. I don't think so. Since the Dome cover itself is not purely clear because it has the ring around the dome to attach to the base I don't see how it can point straight sideways, up or down. Anyone else want to weigh in on this? You could create a shim to angle the camera out a little to accomplish this though. You would need to cut wood at a angle and paint it to help it blend with the camera, but it would work if you did it right. The angle of the wood, would have to be just right.

The lux rating I keep reading on these Day/Night domes are not very good in most cases. Many cases they use sens up, AGC or low IRE to exagerate the actual capabilities. If it can't see at night they should call it a Day and almost dark camera.
-
Oh, same problem though. I am looking at the Ganz right now and it looks like it might be able to do that, but not sure yet. But again these are expensive cameras.

I think the will probably stick to the release date so they can get some inital feedback from people they see at the show Hope they have most of the bugs worked out

Are you trying to have the dome stare straight down a wall? They are not going to see straight down, at least not that I know of.

I wasn't implying that they use PC's. That was my own personal question tucked in that post. Silicon Graphics owns most of, if not all of Cray now. Cray is not really the fastest computers anymore. I would think the NSA is using something more powerfull. As they need all the power they can get. Like this: The new and previous No. 1 is DOE's IBM BlueGene/L system, installed at DOE’s Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL). It has doubled in size (again) and has now achieved a record Linpack performance of 280.6 TFlop/s. It is still the only system ever to exceed the 100 TFlop/s mark. This is the Crays current ranking: The No. 10 spot is occupied by a Cray XT3 system at DOE’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory with 20.53 Tflop/s. This is also the new entry level for the TOP10, up from just under 10 TFlop/s Linpack performance one year ago. I had a chance to work with that computer (acutally this was a while ago, so it would have been a much slower computer), but after the microscope they put you under in the Lab I said forget it.

Yeah it sure would. Our tax dollars enable them to spend. I wonder what the NSA's budget is? Anybody using a Dual Core regularly that they would recommend over a single core. This is for personal use, not a DVR. Although I use a Pentium D820, extra core isn't going to hurt. Everything is going duel core anyway. Intel is going Quad Core already in the server market.

http://www.meetyourmeat.com is pretty brutalhttp://www.goveg.com/FAQs.asp has good information Your just plain cruel. I know I will watch eventually, but not until I finish my fillet mignons tonight. Monsanto puts chemicals in your food.

Sure. Anytime, when you have time.

Ditto. Have you tried the Sanyo VDC-D1184VA? Does the CAM 77 have an IR filter. If not, it is not a true Day/Night Camera. I promise you it is a way better camera than that MACE in every respect. Specs are great lets see how it performs in the real world. The Sanyo doesn't even need IR in low light, only in very dark situations. And I am not knocking it. I am only pointing out the facts. Specs compared to specs, the MACE does not match the Sanyo.

52 page document on the chip. I will take your word on it.

They say March 20th on their website. Here is the link: http://www.geovision.com.tw/english/index.asp

I think he is figuring in his labor and everything else in to the quotes per camera, not just the camera price. Unless he is doing all high end jobs.

Skype can be a problem? What is the conflict? Welcome to the forum!

The other thing I forgot to mention about overclocking is that if your memory is not fast enough you will only be able to overclock so far. And trying to increase the voltage at this point is more likely to fry your CPU. My advice stear clear for doing this for a DVR and even a home system unless you are willing to take such a high risk for what might be a slight performance gain. Gamers are usually the ones interested in doing this anyway. I downloaded that utility. I will check it out. Thanks.

That is a better priced camera, but it will not see as good as the Sanyo in low light. The CAM 77 is rated at .3 for color .1 for black and white. .1 is not real good for black and white. Also I don't see a IR filter on the camera so I would think if it is uesd outside the colors would be washed out? It is cheaper than the Sanyo, but it would probably need external IR for low light, which means more money.

Access through the browser? If JPEG is disabled snap shot function doesn't work? Mine was set to the lowest setting, which would explain why the pictures I posted on the forum were so bad. Oh, you mean streaming JPEG pics are what you are receiving as your video feed?
-
Is that what the feature of creating the JPEG files is for? I thought you needed that enabled in order to save jpegs locally when browsing over the internet with a remote viewer. I guess I can disable that feature then if it is only for a PDA? Hmmm, disabled.

Yeah, your right about that. All up and down action only. But if that is all you need then the dome can work out nice. I am thinking of mounting a dome vertically above the front door. It doesn't use that much space. It costs less than box after factoring in the housing needed, plus the downside of the unit being larger. I really like these Sanyo's. I have one laying on its side pointing out the front window with only a street light accross the street and it sees great.
-
I have one wall mounted vertically. No problem. I could have swore I read somewhere that they could be, but I can't remember where I might have read it. The ones that are not supposed to be wall mounted, what happens does the camera not stay in postion or what is the deal with that whole issue?

Got the specs wrong also: Minimum Illumination At F1.4 Wide: 2.0lux (0.2fc) at color imaging mode 0.2lux (0.02 fc) at B/W mode 0.8lux (0.08 fc) at color image mode, with optional dome cover 0.1lux (0.01 fc) at B/W mode, with optional dome cover How do you know it won't mount on the wall. Because it doesn't say so specifically? Those Sanyos we bought still look pretty good for the money. If I can't find something better close to the same price, this looks like it is still one of the best domes for the money?

The Panasonic WV-CW474AS looks to have better specs: .08 lux and .02 lux, with an optional clear dome cover. Otherwise it is 1.6 and .2 with the 50% smoked dome. It has the 3 Dimension hinges which will allow you to postion the camera at any angle if I read this correctly. Looks like a nice Day/Night Dome.
