I never did get logged in, but a saw some video from another ICRealtime system. Your cameras are better though so I am still curious to see what your sample video would look like from that system. Have you figured out how to export the video? I have the player I downloaded. I just would need a .mp4 file to play.

I am thinking of trying another Day/Night dome out other than the Sanyo. Any recommendations off hand. It needs to be able to be outside, not direct weather, under a porch. The Sanyos are Rated at IP66, which is dust tight and preteced against heavy seas. Any other ones out there that have the same range of operation and are around the same price, maybe a little more? The range of operationof the Sanyo is 1.2 lux for color, .06 lux BW.
-
Sorry fas, Google the internet maybe you can find something that will work out for you.
-
That dome camera you mentioned above Rory has an IR Cut filter. I don't know about the gimbal part, but it is up there in price. Not even close to $150. The Speco LEDome/W Color Weatherproof Day/Night Dome Camera with External IR LEDs anyway. That is the one I am reffering to.
-
Rory, On the Extreme EX46N / EX46NX for example they state a: Full rotational XYZ gimbal. How does that work? X = pan up Y = Pan down Z = Rotate or X = pan up/down Y = Rotate Z = 3rd axis, camera angle adustment? Or A = I don't know B = I don't care C = I am having a beer now. D = All of the above
-
Yep and those look like crap. Maybe a BW camera. The budget you were given isn't enough for what their expectations might be. You might want to talk to them about it so they don't end up disappointed.
-
You got that right. Nothing even close to $150, not even at dealer prices. Try like at least 3-4 times that. The Sayno's that Rory and I have are good cameras, but your not going to touch one at that really low unrealistic price. Where did you come up with these prices? Maybe try to find some used older models or some rebuilts. I don't know, $150 dollars, come on.

OK. I am a lttle confused now. If I mount a dome vertically I can't really use the gimble to rotate the camera without the picture going all sideways on me can I? I can only use the pan and tilt function, but not the gimbal right? Or is there a 3rd axis to allow me to point it at an angle and keep the picture straight?
-
Yeah, that is why I was asking. With the Gimbal it allows you to point the camera at different angles even mounted vertically and still keep the picture straight right? Or does it just give you a 360 degree turning radius? Sounds like hopeful thinking on my part. Doesn't even make sense to me, but maybe I am wrong. If it just allows turning the camera a full 360 degrees than a camera that has the same ability of the Sanyo that can withstand the weather is fine. Up and down is alright.
-
OK FAS, your just too cheap. OK, lets say I am looking for a good Day/Night Dome, similar to the specs of the Sanyo, but will hold up outside. And it has to be a surface mount, not a flush. What would you recommend?
-
What would you guys recommend if his budget was (EDIT) $500-$800 in a Day/Night Dome, for outside? Oh yeah and can mount vertically and has a 360 degree gimbal? And it has to be surface mount, not flush. That is a more realistic budget I think.
-
Your not going to get any type of quality Day/Night camera for that amount of money. Not a true Day/Night camera anyway. Maybe a cheap OEM or something, I don't know?

Needing to post warning signs re: CCTV Systems being present

I'm in CA and you don't have to post signs for Video, only audio. I am sure there is some exceptions, but I don't know what they are off hand. If it is a publice place in general they can be recorded. -
They have some good Day/Night domes. Some can be mounted vertically, like the Sayno VDC-1184VA. Others have a gimbal that will allow you to position the camera at different angles. I personally would avoid IR in the dome, but if a customer wants cheap that that is what you have to give them. Is it for indoor or outdoor?
-
Yep. I productively saved myself some money as I already have a 2Ghz Pentium M Laptop and 2.53 Ghz Desktop. I decided to do distributed data processing to accomplish the same thing as having one very powerful computer. Plus I am utilizing what equipment I have. I am trying to hold out. I want a duel core processor right now, but until they have more software that supports them it is not utilized that much in todays applications. Just helps with multitasking a lot, which I do, but don’t want to buy a new system for curing a little sluggishness every now and then.

The first girl was bad enough. The 2nd one was so calm even after the other girl darted out of the store. She stole all that Jewerly and then calmly went over and stole a purse before leving the store. They should have took the plea bargan.

I have a Dual Core AMD FX60 overclocked to 3Ghz and 2GB of memory right here in this magazine I am looking at.

So that would be a yes on the Hardware Compression in addtion to a good H.264 codec. I have not been able to identify which version of the codec it uses. My codec identifier programs can't figure it out. First element in file is not: EBML
-
OK, I finally got see some video from this thing. Thanks. Magee, I had to attach a .mp4 file extension to the file I downloaded from you in order to get it to play, but got it working. Looks pretty good. The H.264 codec must be helping considerably? Are they using hardware compression as well? Also are you recording at 320x240? I made it full screen and it did not get as bad as I thought it would.
-
Yep. That is where I traced it back to. I host with the same company and my server is in Germany also.

Some expanding walls probably wouldn't hurt either to give a better representation of what a person would see of a subject at different distances while maintaining the height and width of the area to be monitored. The whole field of view would still be visible, but set room height and width would be maintained as well.
-
Yeah. I like the visual representation part. The only thing is sometimes people get confused when seeing the subject in the whole field of view and think that the lens looks like it isn't big enough. A couple slider lines representing a ceiling height and floor would be good so people can get a better idea of how the subject will look in their situation instead of seeing the whole Field of View. Again another challenge. This would be more helpful than the angle idea. I have another idea, but I will wait to spring that one on you if you do any of the others I mentioned. The ceiling height line and floor line would help a lot.
-
Can you upload some exported video so we can take a look. You to send it to me via Skype and I will host it for you.
-
Hey, Jelly Belly. Can you make a change to the program that will show what the subject would like with the camera mounted at diferent heights and angles? I know that would be a challenge to make that adjustment. In other words the image to reflect the angle of the camera?
