Interesting OR Funny Security Videos - Post Links Here
Jasper replied to Jasper's topic in Test Bench
Yeah that link was no where near as good as the first one you posted. That is the kind of evidence I want to see. No insects flying around in the dark with light reflecting off them and they are claiming they are some kind of manifestation. I suggest that first link you posted for everyone to watch, you can clearly see the ghost in that one. -
PC Based DVR and UPS/Line Conditioner

Now it is quieter! Rory, go out on the NET and read about the differences. If I am wrong come back and tell me about it. -

Sorry, not true either. With NTFS you can go down to 4096K cluster size which means that information will be more densely stored increasing read and write speed of data. Plus you can have more copies of your Master File Allocation table then FAT32. That is another NTFS advantage. You also have file permission settings with NTFS. There are more advantages, but I can’t remember all of them off the top of my head. If I am inaccurate about any of this someone please correct me because I want to be accurate in what I am saying. -

I remember you mentioning that Geo recommended it to be placed on a FAT32 file system, but FAT32 sucks compared to NTFS file system. Security reasons, reliability, efficiency and wasted hard drive space due to larger drive cluster sizes etc. What is their reason for that recommendation? Did they give one? -

Remember though that you are probably talking about XP and the NTFS file system. Try that with Windows 98 and FAT32 and your talking a whole different ball game. Also if you have drive caching enabled you are more likely to get corrupted data. -
Well without having to know the exact technical reasons why. I suggest each person test for themselves and see what works best for them. I am now using 640x480 Interlaced using the Mpeg4 CODEC, not the FastMpeg4 Deinterlaced anymore.

You would probably have to send them an Email. Maybe someone on the forum knows the answer. Scott knows Geo very well. Maybe he knows that answer? Although I don't see him on the forum as much lately. He must be out earning money.

I know what I say next is not going to be popular. But here it goes: If everygody starts using these fairly large LOGO's the forum is going to be much harder to read and will give the appearnce of a commercial site with nothing but Ads. Do you guys really need the LOGOs and if you think you do, can't you make them alot smaller. It's not my place, but that is JMHO. Any other opinions on the subject. New thread, Poll? Ask Larry? I'm a bad man

Typical HighJacked thread. Is this the day of the LOGOS or what? I see Kandicorp has a nice big LOGO now. Soundy has a one as well. Who's next?

One thing is for sure, I could see a huge difference between the 640x480de and the interlaced version. The deinterlaced video looked very distorted. The weird part is when I compared Mpeg4 to FastMpeg 4, the Mpeg4 looked better and took up less hard drive space. I am curious to hear others experiences. These results really show the differences in the CODECs that are being used. I hope their implementation of the H.264 codec will be a good one?

I have a 1.2Ghz computer also that is running Windows XP. It is fine for browsing the Internet and running non intensive CPU tasks. And it only has 256MB of memory and a slower 40GB hard drive. It would be quite a bit faster if I had more memory and a faster hard drive. It should work out ok for them.

Oh, please don't link all the GeoVision threads. I was just thinking that much of the information I am reading here has already been covered in the other thread. It just sounds like censorship doesn't it. I am done. -

Isn't this one of those threads that could be tacked on to the end of the other long thread about UPS?. Or is just when the thread gets off topic that you want that to happen -
Exactly. All depends on what you are using the computer for. I have a 2.53Ghz Intel and it does everything I need it to do with the exception of when I am working with Video encoding or Transcoding. That is when I wish I had one of the new X2 AMD processors. The dual core processors are nice because your system doesn't become unresponsive like a single core does where you are running an Anti Virus scan, encoding or transcoding video and trying to do something else. For people who like to run like to run many program at once a dual core is for them. My question to Rory is what do your parents use the computer for? I would recommend different components depending upon it's use. I work with a lot of file copying, so for me getting progressively faster hard drives over the years has made a big difference in my situation. All depends on how someone uses the computer.

The latest issue of Maximum PC is dedicated to OverClcoking. It is being done more now then ever before. As far as the High-End AMD chips like the 4200+ thru 4800+ your right, they don't have much room for overclocking compared to the X2 3800+. The best chips for AMD overclocking now are: X2 3800+, Sempron 3100 and the Athlon 64 Venice 3800 3800 2Ghz to 2.6Ghz, Sempron 1.8Ghz to 2.4Ghz, Venice 2.4Ghz to 2.8Ghz. For intel: Pentium Extreme Edition 955, Pentium D 840 and the Intel Pentium 4 560J. The 955 was overclocked to 5Ghz. The other two to 4Ghz. There are many websites dedicated to the Art of overclocking. And it invovles the Front Bus Speed, the CPU clock Muliplier and voltage ajdustments. And of course cooling when clocking to the highest speeds as the chips get very hot as you increase their voltages.
-
Overclocking is far from dead as a matter of fact it is more popular than ever. For example an AMD 3800+ rated at 2Ghz is an Overclockers dream because it runs cool and has been successfully overclocked to 2.6Ghz, which is one heck of a power increase. Overclocking is not something to be taken lightly. You can fry your CPU real quick if you don’t know what your doing. In this chips case it really isn’t worth the effort. Even if you successfully overclock the CPU, you will be lucky to gain enough power to make it worth the effort and risk you will be taking.

Try this link: http://web.inter.nl.net/hcc/J.Steunebrink/chkcpu.htm Has a little utility program you can download. I have used another utility you can download off Intels site, but I don't know if it supports AMD processors where this one looks like it does. Here is another free one: http://www.majorgeeks.com/TestCPU_d844.html

Depends on the Chip and and the BIOS. You would need to check your BIOS first and even see if there is a setting to change your Front Side Bus speed and if you can make slight voltage adjustments. Search Google and see what you come up with. It doesn't sound promising, but I could be wrong. One quick find: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/duron-600.html Too much risk for what you could gain, which would not be much. This is the Chip? Duronâ„¢ 1.2GHz 1200 MHz 200 MHz Socket A 256 KB Here is a good article for you to read: Not about overclocking, but just testing of that chip. Sorry, it just seems like they ripped off your folks. http://www.tomshardware.com/2001/11/16/attack/index.html

Just reviewing the GeoVision manual and found that they list video recording quality settings from highest to lowest: 720x480 best, 720x480de, 640x480 and 640 deinterlaced the worst. So the answer is: Interlaced is better quality on the GeoVision Card.

Update the firmware on that router before trying to do anyting. I had problems with that model recently and the firmware update fixed the problem with the router locking up.

Wait till you get in there, and then realize there is nothing there really that interesting. There is more dealer talk outside the dealer section than in it. I thought like you before I was allowed access and then was disappointed once I was in there. Believe me your not missing anything. You’ll see. You will take a quick glance and then be right back out of that section talking in the regular forum where the real action is. JMHO.

Yep. Me too and I have seen one that was similar. I wonder if there is any "White Noise Video" on the web. I found some EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomenon, voices of the dead) audio, but not video yet. So if you find any Ghost Video, post it. The movie “White Noise†-

What a contrast between the two videos. The big guy was doing good until he got dizzy and almost died of a heart attack. That kid was awesome. They have it all now, eye, hand and foot coordination. I think we might be off topic. Oops. I was led astray. -
Now your really messing with me. I always have to go to those places every now and then. Especially Taco Bell. That is high quality fast food. Donuts I don't worry about I rarely eat them. But if we all shared stories of places we saw that had poor food handling we could really keep eachother from eating. It would be the new "We Make You Sick Diet"
