    Version 8 issues

I noticed that as well when I upgraded to Version 8. 1120-8. The H.264 is good for when you have little bandwidth when using webcam.
  2. Very good point! Hardware compression is usually better, but like you say, no upgrade path, unless the card has some kind of flash memory?

    Anyone familiar with BartPE?

Check out the webiste if you haven't already. I have seen it written up in one of my magazines as a good tool, but I have not used it myself. Should be some info out there on the net though.
  4. ADULT LANGUAGE: At end Episode: 12 In this police video, the robber (in black) armed with a shotgun, gets jumped by the clerks and has the **** beat out of him. The funniest part is after the robber gets his butt kicked HE presses the panic button too... you have to see it to believe it. http://www.securityguardtheater.com/video/iSGT_episode12.mp4
  5. The bad guy looks in dire need of a Sniper Keep those videos coming. There has to be a lot more out there that are interesting. I wish some other people would post some.

    RealVNC security flaw-critical

Thanks for the info. It just so happens a friend of mine had his computer compromised over VNC two nights ago. Now I know why. Updated to 4.1.2.
  7. Looks pretty good too me also. If it can get better you'll figure it out because you've done well already. I don't know what cameras or anything else, but you seem to be able to focus a camera fairly well. If your a perfectionist like Rory and others you can probably improve it. Let Rory on your system and even if he can't help you with the quality issue he will probably help you in some other way. He's like that.

    Ye olde GUI

My idea is to make them live with it. They should worry more about what it is intended for than the GUI. JMHO.
  9. That is a professional card?

Anyone hooked up a Ge Legend PTZ yet?

Well I like it when you ask a question and than answer it yourself because you are still passing on the experience.

    Counter application information

Nope, don't know off hand where that information is stored. I know that when I tested the counting applicaiton I thought it to not very accurate. My test conditions were not the greatest, but I quit trying to use it at that point for that installation. I think I understand what your trying to do. Maybe somebody else can help you like Rory. He loves programming, especially when he gets paid to do it. Anway I thought I would put my two cents in regarding my percieved accuracy of the count function. I take it that you have had accurate results in testing?
  12. Yes some sample video sounds good. I was wondering what your camera environment was like; lots of light, low light, etc. I remember when I first saw a system for the first time and I was thinking, what is the big deal. It was nothing like what I expected. Once you use a digital camera everything else just pales in comparision. Anyway not sure if it is your expectations or a real problem of some sort. Since you liked the picture on the DSP output of the 1120 card, it is more than likely that it is a display problem such as your video card / monitor combination. Maybe you can take some still shots with a digital camera of what the screen looks like and upload them so we can see what your viewing and not liking.

    General CCTV PC usage question

Basically the consensus is to use your DVR for security only for reliability sake. Security is a mission critical application and therefore if you want to not take any chances on any mishaps it should be seperate. You could probably do what you want to do depending on the amount of total data that you are trying to push through the system. Such as compression, frame rate and resolution of the video you are recording. Security systems can ge very demanding on a hard disk especially with 8-10 cameras running at decent framte rate. That's my quick answer.

GEO VER 8 - DMBACKUP PROBLEM

I finally got around to trying to export some video for review and discovered that although the export works ok, when I click on the EZviewlog500.exe I get the following error message; This application has failed to start because passdllclient.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem. I tried reinstalling the main geovision software, but still cannot get rid of this message. I found a DMbackup patch and applied it, but it didn't fix the problem either. The version date of this patch is a older file version anyway. Is there another area on the Geovision website that has all the patches available? I was able to get a wecam patch from another site, but only see the 1 dmbackup patch for version 8? Has anyone else had this problem? How did you resolve it? Any thoughts on what else to try? Thanks.

Yeah you can remove it from your personal web space now. It will be available on my server now. I am sure others will find this post and it will help them as well. Thanks again

Suggestions on an inexpensive PTZ camera?

PTZ cameras are quite a bit more than regular cameras. What kind of budget range are you thinking about?

GEO VER 8 - DMBACKUP PROBLEM

Didn't receive it? I know it is late in Sweden so your probably asleep. Can you PM me and let me know what address you sent the file to? Talk to you later. Thanks. Anybody else run accross this patch? I saw another reference to a similar patch name on another forum. I can find any patches on Geo's website except for 1 and it is for viewlog.

GEO VER 8 - DMBACKUP PROBLEM

The one I got is: Update_Viewlog_V7070-E.exe, which is not for DMbackup as I thought orginally (Tired). I PM'd you with my email address. I will place the patch on my server and post a link here if you send it to me. Thanks.

    Stuttering Issue (video link enclosed)

Do you have it setup for motion detection? You can get that effect if there is no movement for a second or so. That is what it looks like? I haven't seen any other posts regarding your problem so excuse me if I am repeating something that has already been addressed.
  22. I am not familair with that DVR, but unless their is an icompatability issue with the SATA drives I would stick with them as they are better all the way around. Better performance inside the computer and externally as well. You can run RAID Arrays with SATA drives or IDE, but SATA drives have more features than IDE drives. But they may not be utlized in that DVR? IDE drives are cheaper than SATA drives if that is a consideration. IDE drives if used externally have limited performance due to their bandwidth limitation of the 1394 and USB 2 connections. Hope this helps.
  23. It hasn't happened to me in a while now. Probably will now since I said this. There is a password DLL file that is part of the patch which fixed a problem I had with the program crashing when trying to enter the password mode. I backed up the existijng version of the webcam program file and the DLL file just in case. Let us know how it works out for you.

Doesn't look like a plane to me??

Yeah, where is that StarGate? I need an alternative method of travel since these gas prices are getting so high.
