    JESUS WHAT A F^%& UP@!!!

A real roller coaster ride for the familys. It was first reported that the 12 were found alive. Then dead. Plus I think it took them hours to report it correctly. What a tragedy. That is a tough business though and things like this happen.

Take a look at the difference

No comparison. The new camera puts the other one to shame. Nice pictures by the way.

Yup. We have a tendency to do that sometimes. It does make for some interesting conversations though.

    Computer Problem (non-dvr)

You shouldn't have to use an IDE drive for your boot drive. Did you figure out what was causing the problem? Or did you just get it working and say that heck with it?
  5. I took a closer look because I thought it was a network camera also. They should change that it's very misleading.

OK sounds like you've done your research. I have other software running on my computer to prevent that from happening though. I will give Firefox another try. Just not right now as the bookmarks for Maxthon are located in a different directory. That's the one thing I don't like about Maxthon.
  7. Has anyone used any of the external enclosures for SATA drives? The enclosures seem to be expensive. I have to do some more surfing. But at least your data transfer rate won't be hindered by the interface. I have a bought my last FireWire and USB drive at least for personal use.

You are funny. I don't surf any of those sites you mentioned. Besides when I just used Firefox it crashed. Also Firefox is using third-party headers which my firewall alerted me to. What those third-party headers are I don't have a clue. But if you want true privacy you have to use a pen and paper.

I don't know what your definition of safety is? But believe me you are not safe if you're on a computer. And hooked up to the Internet. Besides Maxthon has a lot more features than Firefox. I would have to use all kinds of plug-ins in order to accomplish the same thing that is already built into Maxthon. Mozilla is a great organization though.

You're still not safe. You might be a little more safe. But as long as you're using Microsoft you're not safe. So why not switch to Linux while your at it. I like the tabbed browsing. I have Firefox here. I will have to fire it up and check it out.

Just translate the page. I am using the Maxthon browser which has translation options available under the tools menu. You can probably do the same thing in Google or may be in IE. I only use Maxthon so I am not sure. Here is a link: http://www.maxthon.com/ This browser has a lot of features that IE doesn't have, like tabbed browsing and much more. Man you guys type fast. I was responding to Rory.

MACE's Cam 68cir IR Color Dome Image

It already looks 100% better. That camera doesn’t look so bad after all.

Is there a difference between the IR above and the EX12LED? Same thing?

They have a flush mount also. But I guess it is the same camera in both? Forgot already.

Yep. I think that is the one he is talking about. As we both have bought that same camera.

I hope so. That looks terrible. Thanks for the warning. This reinforces my belief that unless somebody needs IR in with the camera due to budget, etc. the best thing to do is always have IR separately.
  17. Anybody heard of any beams or other type of proximity device that are available to detect a small dog or cat and send them scattering?. Specifically anything that could trigger a silent whistle that would not bother a human, but would encourage the animal not to go any further. Like into a room and wet on the carpet.
  18. Cheaper and better, sounds like a good product.
  19. Thanks for the info. Those Optex beams look pretty good. I need to read up on what other types of beams are available that might work out for me. I guess if I had some beams that even made an audible alert tone, like the ones used in the stores that would probably work. I definitely want beams so it only activates the sound when the dog crosses through the beams. I like idea of silent so it doesn’t disturb anybody else, but if I could get one that even makes a noise, that probably would work. I am looking for something simple, like two beams that I can lay on the floor and aim or mount against the wall, if necessary. And all in one unit would be great. But if I have too, I will try and build something from scratch. I just don’t want to have to do that if I can help it. I will definitely have to go Goggling to find out what is available. I don’t want my dog to ruin my brand new carpets. So I definitely need to do something before he ruins them. I hate to use these baby crib barriers because I have to hurdle them every time I need to go into that area. I will definitely be looking for a solution.
  20. The product above looked pretty interesting. It has a sensor and emits an annoying whistle when it detects a dog and discourages them from coming into a fairly large area. I am looking for something that works similar to a beam, rather than passive IR. When testing an IR sensor designed for a human the dog can walk right by it and it does nothing. I have a small handheld device I bought some years ago that emits a high frequency sound and is used for training dogs. I used it with my dog and when he hears it he freaks out. Stops what he is doing instantly. Tried it with a Pit Bull one time, it just pissed him off. If they had the same product above and used beams, that would work great. I want to prevent the dog from going into the family room and living room, so it can’t wet on the carpet. But I don’t want the dog to freak out every time it walks by the area without crossing the beam. As it stands now I have resorted to using a couple of those plastic barricades that are used to prevent small children from walking into an area you don’t want them in. I would think there would be a product like this out there, but maybe somebody hasn’t invented it yet?
  21. I am sorry, I have to disagree with you regarding SATA having IRQ problems. You can have IRQ problems for various reasons, not just because you put in a SATA drive. That must be your personal experience with them. I have PC’s that have both ATA and SATA drives in the same system and I have no IRQ problems. My personal PC has so many devices connected to it you would think it would have IRQ problems, but it doesn’t. It has SATA drives and ATA drives inside of it as well.

Seasons Greetings to all ye souls

Thank you. That’s the spirit. And the very best to you as well.
  23. SATA drives are phasing out E-IDE drives. You will notice there are some good prices on some of the larger IDE drives right now due to that reason. If I put together a new system I would only use SATA because that is the future. As far as performance gains, there is no hard drive in existence to take advantage of the faster bandwidth available, at the moment anyway and probably the foreseeable future. External SATA drives will offer greater performance that USB 2.0 and 1394A (Fire wire faster than USB, slightly). The SATA drives are using 133GB per platter compared to 100GB per platter, which increases performance. SATA drives also offer Native Command Queuing as well which in nice for multi-user environments. SATA drives are similar to SCSI drives in this respect, but not quite as good, yet. The cables are different; they use a different power connector and a thinner ribbon cable, which allows more air flow, thus contributing to better cooling in the computer.
  24. Can you give a description of what exactly you see on the screen? There might be a clue as to what the cause is if you can describe exactly what you are doing and what the results are. Like is the screen just plain blank or you can see something but it is full of static, etc.
  25. I haven’t tried what you are trying to do, so I don’t know for sure whether it is possible. When you copy files like that to a disc it requires packet writing software and I thought maybe that was the reason. But if you were able to do it in the past, I don’t know why you wouldn’t be able to do it, unless they changed something in the way that program works that caused that to stop working. Maybe you don’t have the packet writing aspect of the software running in memory? Don't know if this pertains to your situation, but maybe take a look. http://www.nero.com/nero6/eng/Support_News_SP2_Packet_Writing_Problems.html
