People should come here first, before they get burned on Ebay. Not after. Sorry about what happened to you, but I would think you would suspect something is wrong if the price is too good to be true. Hope you can get your money back, good luck.

http://www.securityinfowatch.com/article/article.jsp?siteSection=390&id=6562 Kuwait Computer Services selected EX82 for its "no compromise" 24/7 surveillance capabilities. The camera's tough, all-weather housing and 6mm Lexan protective window make it the ideal choice for outdoor surveillance in the harsh Kuwaiti climate. With its low voltage operation, solid-state CCD technology and controlled regulated voltage, EX82 can operate for years without requiring regular service or maintenance. "Extreme products are now being used for numerous applications in Persian Gulf states," said Jack Gin, President and CEO of Extreme CCTV. "Our EX27D Desert Cam is designed especially for hot desert conditions, up to 65 degrees C (158 degrees F)." Other recent infrastructure projects in the region include surveillance for oil companies in Saudi Arabia and at locations in Iraq that cannot be disclosed. Extreme CCTV International, a subsidiary of Extreme CCTV Inc., will be presenting at the upcoming Intersec security exhibition in Dubai, January 29 - 31, 2006.

Remember that question about which camera you would buy if you could only have 1 for the rest of your life and I answered, color for the day, BW at night. This is the camera that I would choose, since it has both.

I didn’t have to do that, at least not yet. I ended up killing that program in the task manager about 4 times, because it just wants to keep loading. I startied killing all processes that I knew were associated with GEO, then on about the fifth time loading it made it passed the Initialization part and loaded correctly.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention it is a Geo 1240-8 card. Also I just rebooted into regular mode and ran the Geo software manually and saw a message whiz by that said something about trying to recover from the error? I am still getting the same message from the Remote Playback server. Some file(s) got corrupted it looks like. I will look into it. It is stuck on the Initializing screen. If anybody has any suggestions, I am listening. Thanks

Those units are awesome. I would like one of those for every camera. Nice photos also.

Now I got this message, Oops. I also got the “Get Data Base Failâ€

Congratulations. I recognize those pictures. It is always nice to receive some recognition for something you work so hard at. It will help your business. Nice worldwide exposure. You did good Rory.

Use laptop to check camera angles
Jasper replied to cachecreekcctv's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
The way I read your post I was thinking maybe you were asking about using remote software on your Laptop to access your DVR, to then display the camera shots, so you could focus the cameras. I do this for general camera angles, but still have to use a spot monitor for the best results. Anway, I probably read the post wrong, but that was my impression. I just order one of those external USB TV tuner capture devices. I didn’t plan on using it for that purpose, but you could always try it. It wouldn’t be any worse than a regular LCD display. Might be worth a try if the TV tuner card doesn’t cost you much. -
Combo Cards Quality of live videos
Jasper replied to jzipf's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Has anything changed with your camera setup since you updated the card? The reason I ask is because you tried what Geo Tech support told you to do and your still having problems. I am just taking a wild guess here, but maybe something is wrong with a connection of some kind. List everything you have tried, like; Reseating the card? Camera connections to the board? Etc. -
The audio files are recorded separately from the video files. Video files are put in their own directories and the audio in theirs. When you playback the files a program combines the video and audio so you can see and hear the video. If you want to hear the audio during playback in EZViewLog500, which is created when you backup the files for review, you have to click on the audio channel in the right panel window. This will allow you to hear the sound, if that is your problem. Check that first and see what happens.

http://www.damninteresting.com/?p=218#more-218 Sixty years ago today, on December 5, 1945 at 4:00pm Eastern Time, a fragment of a radio transmission was heard from a training flight of five TBM Avenger Torpedo Bombers that had departed from Fort Lauderdale earlier that day. The transmission was thought to be from Lt. Charles Taylor– the senior flight instructor– to one of the other pilots. The message indicated that the flight group had become lost and disoriented over the ocean east of Florida, and all of their compasses were malfunctioning. Rory, I think you’re in it. Anyone, know anything about the Bermuda Triangle For those of you interested. The Bermuda Triangle will be on tonight on the Sci-Fi channel. Part 1 was last night, part 2 tonight and they are showing part 1 again for those people who missed it.

Those CAPS are hard on the eyes.

In regards to the Navy report, I just don’t trust the government to tell the truth on certain matters that are related to National Security. The public would panic if they knew for sure that an alien aircraft had actually crashed here.

$10, that’s not worth going to the post office. Obviously desperation hasn’t kicked in yet.
-
That's what I thought.

Rory has a good point about other software maybe slowing down the system. Have you tired looking at the Windows task bar (Alt+control+delete) and sort the info by CPU to find out what tasks are using the CPU the most? Should check that out for sure.

Dave The processor speed is very important for compressing MPEG-4 video. The more power the better. I am a little surprised that the 3.02 (edit: got too be 3.2) processor is not working for you. The video card seems way to small. A good video card always helps. Something with 128MB wouldn’t hurt you. 1 GB memory should be fine. With that size you can eliminate your Windows Swap File, which should reduce some CPU overhead that is used to swap the memory in/out to hard disk. Running in dual monitor mode would require more processing power of you video card. It seems like the video card it the culprit here. Check out the fairly recent posts on video cards. I think you find your answer there regarding which video card are good.

I guess this was another joke. I am going to start keeping a list of the people who say the new version is out before it really is. What are we up to on the false notifications, versions 7.5 or >, 7.1 would be nice.
-
Thanks for the 99 (113) useful windows run commands. That list might come in handy. Sometimes it is nice to just run the command, rather than going through menus.
-
I liked the Scifi channels mini-series about it though. It’s nice to believe there is something out there we don’t understand has yet to be discovered. It is worth watching if you haven’t seen it. I guess you guys don’t believe in UFO’s either?

What about the consideration of the size of the cable though? Don’t you still have to order a Twist-on for the specific cable you use? Or do they have a one size fits all for the most common diameter cable used? Still haven’t order that simeese cable and was wondering what I needed to order in the way of twist-on for it. Was looking at the cable you gave me a link too, but I am not sure which twist-ons to order for it or any other cable I might decide to buy?
-
Curious to find out what the resolution was on this?
-
It seems that twist-on’s aren’t as bad as I originally thought. The BNC compression connectors seem like they are great, if you have gone through the learning curve and probably spent a few dollars on the connectors you lost in the learning phase. You might decide against the compression method if you fear buying the tools just to find out you don’t like that method. The twist-ons are cheaper and more forgiving it seems like to me. VitHoward teaches this stuff and didn’t have anything bad to say about the twist-ons, so it seems like it is more a matter of personal choice? My only concern is knowing which twist-on to order depending on the diameter of the cable, to insure I get the best fit.
