Good Low Light Color Camera with Varifocal Lens
Jasper replied to Jasper's topic in Security Cameras
I am looking for a very low light color camera to be used indoors in the back room of a ****tail Lounge. It is not especially bright, but not really dark either. I have some pictures of the area that I took without a flash, but I would need someone to host a photo or two in order for me to show you the exact lighting condition, reflective surfaces, etc. Don’t need a Mech Filter, just want to see color all the way down to low light. So I have a decent picture in fair lighting, which is what I think I have. Bullet or Box cameras are fine. The camera will be mounted high, just under a 10ft ceiling. Voltage 12volts DC or 24volts AC. Cable runs are going to be less than 100 feet. Looking for a lens with an adjustable range of (2.8 or 3.6) to (8 or greater)mm. A lens with a very low F-Stop Number would be great. I will check out the website link you posted. Thanks. -
Yeah, that really is worst case. If there is a way to send a power outage alert to your central monitoring software and you can be alerted by a noise, you can send somebody to check the situation. Most thieves will choose a place they know not to have a security system than take a chance on a place that has video surveillance signs posted. If not, they know you have something really of value to steal. They have cased the place and might even be an insider. The chances statistically of the worst case scenario are pretty slim, but it can happen. You might want to review your insurance coverage for theft loss, just in case. I think balance, like Thomas said is really the key here. Don’t worry yourself about things you can’t control.

With the internet connection it should allow the system to send some snapshots of the thief before they steal your stuff. You are really imagining worst case scenario that’s for sure. If you can get the system to send pictures to other computers on your LAN, then I doubt the thief would even know to try and destroy them. They might try to steal the other PC’s. So your best bet is to try and send snapshots over the internet. Maybe increase your internet connection speed if that is a concern or option for you.

Good Low Light Color Camera with Varifocal Lens

That Sony camera has less sensitivity to light than the GE camera I listed above. The GE is 0.1 lux and the Sony specifications listed show 0.55 at 50 IRE and 0.3 at 30IRE. Which means the GE is about 4.5 to 5.5 times more sensitive to light and that isn’t taking into consideration the differences in the lenses. Unless there is something there I don’t understand that makes it better, like the State-of-the-Art SuperExwave technology? The F-stop on the Sony lens is not as good as the one listed above. The lens I listed above for the GE is probably twice as sensitive to light as the Sony lens? The Sony has a higher resolution rating of 540tvl, but won’t do me any good if it can’t see decently in low light. Thanks for checking around though. If you run across anything that is rated lower than 0.1 lux and will accept a lens similar to the one above, let me know. That GE camera may be a hard one to beat for Color in low light situations -
Good Low Light Color Camera with Varifocal Lens

That might be a little more than I want to spend. I don’t like the IR being located in the camera, too much IR reflection. The halo effect isn’t to pleasant. Some people don’t mind it, but I would rather buy the IR separately if I need it. I also did not see mention of an IR filter? I was considering this camera: http://www.spytown.com/ktc-840ce.html With this lens: http://www.spytown.com/ktl-2-9-8va.html That should provide really low light ability in color, I have been told. If you have any other suggestions of a color camera that has really low lux rating without the automatic gain being turned on, let me know. -
I was just kiddin with you. No pardon necessary. I am a Newbie too. There is always plenty to learn. That is the good thing about this stuff, your always learning new things. Half the questions I ask are already questions I have asked before or already read about. That's called Dementia.

I don't know about that. You seem to keep your attention on this Forum pretty good.

I would hate to be president. Because it doesn’t matter who is in office they always get blamed for everything that is wrong in the country. They all age 10-20 years in 4 years. They can have that job. But yeah I have to agree, for a lot of our tax dollars going over to IRAQ, we should be getting some discount prices on that oil over there. Maybe we should even get it free for while. We need those new cars GM has created that runs on Hydrogen I think. Water comes out the tail pipe as the byproduct and they have pretty good power. Oil companies and every other related industry that makes money off of petroleum products are going to fight that technology. There is just too much profit in it for them and so much to lose for everyone that makes a living with anything to do with a gasoline powered combustion engine.

Rory, Your cell phone time didn't change? Geez, that's the one thing that usually always changes automatically. Well at least you knew the right time. I would have believed my cell phone. Weird tings goin on around thar man
-
I am an idiot I have two clocks sitting side by side in front of me. One of them changes automatically with Daylight savings time and the other; well you guessed it is the one I have been looking at. Hey C7, You’re in CA, where I am, I don't know, maybe a little past Texas or so. The funny part is that the weather clock I was looking at is supposed to set itself by the Atomic clock. I guess my clocks reception isn't too good. Yeah, like I said way back yonder. Thanks C7

Pacific Time, US & Canada What time is it? Ooh Wee, Oh wee, Oh
-
I knew that, I was just checking to see if you would pick up on it. Yeah right. Now I know. Still confused why C7 is -8. I checked my computer clock and it says -8 also, but has the box checked for auto adjust for daylight savings time. Maybe he didn't check that box?
-
OK, here I go again. Lets see what this time is with -8GMT. No it is -7 GMT for me. I don't know why. It just works. C7, You sure your in CA Did your computer update the date and time? I am so confused.
-
Very Smart. That helps everybody.
-
Thanks C7, You screwed me up. If it was set right the first time, no touchy...
-
Thanks C7, I didn't know we had to do that. I hope I did it right. I was at -7 GMT, now at -6GMT? Oh Well! Hopefully did it right.

That is ridiculous. I’d be riding a bike for short trips, if it was safe. Gas theft must be a common thing there? Hope you have a locking gas cap. Cameras are good, but it’s a bummer to see someone siphoning your gas out of your tank when you are reviewing and you can’t identify them. Before the gas prices went through the roof, what was your regular price over there?
-
I noticed that at first too. I just click on the refresh button. Or other people use F5 or CTRL + F5

Well I know this it my top one for sure: http://www.google.com The other one would probably be the Internet Movie Database http://www.imdb.com It is Interesting to see what interests other people.

Digital cameras work nice. Seriously, there is tons of information in these forums regarding cameras. You should spend some time reading, because the answer to your questions might have already been posted. Plus if you want to ask a camera related question you will want to post in camera section of the forum.

I won't tell your wife, but she could always withhold your food. Of course you can always go to the drive through, that’s what I would do. Unfortunately security isn’t the only project we tend not to finish. I think that just must be a man-trait. I got CAT5 wires coming out of the walls for my home theatre, because I was too lazy to terminate them properly. So they lead to all the speakers, but I never connected them to the Surround Sound. Now that’s bad, it has been over 1 year. Women will start one thing and finish. A man will start one thing, get bored with that, start another project, etc.

Youre right though. That is the point. We don't care what it looks like. Were practical, we just want it to work. We don't want to have to take the extra time to make it look neat. Thats for paying customers.

Here is the Scenario: I am testing MultiView (WebCam), CenterV2 and hopefully, Remote Playback over a LAN connection. The Webcam and CenterV2 I have been able to use successfully. I have the Remote Playback server running on the DVR. I have the client version running on the client. I am using the correct local IP address. I am using a valid username and password. I keep getting that dreaded “Connect Fail!â€
