It's a little late for that now. Don't count the other threads I revived before getting this message. I usually only revive a thread when it contains information that I don't want repeated, since some ground has already been covered on the subject. Plus it brings the topic back to the forefront where other might be interested in that particular subject matter.

I would not even mess around with any of those 2.4GHz wireless cameras, because I have and they suck. You get interference from the new telephones that are using that same frequency. Same problem with the new “Gâ€

Yeah after that movie came out several Hollywood "A" list movie stars had them put in. There the only ones that can afford it. Hey sorry I am responding to so many of your old posts, but I have bad insomnia tonight (now today)

Comcast Cable charges 45.95 a month for 4 Mbps down and I think 384K up. I think it may be a little more if you don't have their cable tv service as well. Those ISP's over there really sock it to you. That's like Costa Rica where the ISP is basically a government run monopoly. No competition.

Damn, The lesson here is never snitch anybody out. I bet she'll never do it again. If she is still alive.

Wow That is the best one I have seen so far. That was intense, looks like they came close to being part of the action.

It's not worth your time. There are so many programs out there that do just about everything. You just have to find them. I have tons of stuff. I just don't know what the majority of it does -
Testing GeoVision Card with No Cameras, Will this Work?
Jasper replied to Jasper's topic in Security Cameras
Yep, It's working fine. I've got a DVD playing OutBreak and recording the audio as camera 1 and am using a wireless Remington camera I had laying around for the camera 2. Had to walk away from it though because I started watching the movie -
I have had a delay in receiving a camera I ordered and I want to run some tests recording some video on this new GeoVision 1240 card I have. I was wondering if I hooked up a DVD or VCR with Video RCA cable with a BNC adapter to the card if this would allow me to capture the video with the GeoVison card? Would this video input look like a camera input to the GeoVison Card?

Try doing a search through Google. I came up with a few programs. I used "avi time lapse software" in my search. If you could find some software that would create a Jpeg file per a specified time period you could easily put together a time lapse slide show. I may have something that would work, but I can’t remember off hand anything that I have that will totally automate the process. If I run across software that will do that I will let you know. And you let us know if you find something. -
You might want to do a little reading and searching through the forums. There is a lot of good information about that and more. Each install has it's unique requirements, so I don't think there is a 4 system fits all type scenario. But I could be wrong I'm sure you will be getting some other opinions and recommendations.

I am also installing a system in a Bar. I was wondering if you stuck with black and white cameras? What cameras do you end up with? Are you happy with them? Did you try using any color camera’s? Also I was wondering if you ended up running RG59 or using that thin Siamese wire that I saw referred to in previous posts. If you did use that thin wire, what were your results? I have not finalized my camera selections at this time. I am thinking 1 bullet camera and several domes in places where people could reach the cameras. Also that thin wire looks easy to run, but after seeing other posts I wonder if there would be a quality loss? Thanks, any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I knew I was going to get caught on that. Hey it's late and I can't see so well. I meant the system, not me... -

Oops, sorry, looks like you already looked into that. Are you sure how many channels the card supports? -

You might want to check under camera/audio section in the software and make sue you don't have limit port number checked with a number smaller than 9 next to it. I am using Version 7.02. -
I agree using CD's sucks, unless it’s just one or two. The crossover CAT-5 wire is very slow, unless you have gigabit Ethernet, which most people don't. I use Acronis True Image Software to Image files or the whole partition to an external hard drive. True Image is great software package. It easily lets you mount an image file just as if it was a regular hard drive. Simply copy files out of the archive if you need them. Looks like a hard disk as far as Windows is concerned. I bought a nice Venus DS3 enclosure that is small and very durable. If you think you might need to do something like that again it is worth the investment, if you haven't already done so, which knowing you Rory, you probably already have done something, but just in case…

I’m not worried about them at all, but I will setup and ID in the software that won’t allow them to exit because that is a good idea. I am worried that if Windows XP should lock up, which I personally don’t think it will unless you load a bunch of crap you don’t need on your system, like I do, if that dog-gone watchdog jumper wire should be used. I guess what I am looking for is, Jasper I don’t use the jumper, I haven’t had any problems with system lockup’s or you better hook up the watchdog because Geovison locks up the computer or you need it for this reason??? You guys are funny. I won’t tell them about unplugging it Thanks.

LOL, LOL, LOL!

LOL, I guess that means I have to hook up that wire, shoot! Or can Geovison software initate a restart without the wire? Rory, Should I hook up that wire or what? LOL
-
I originally setup two accounts, admin and user, then I removed the user account and bypassed the logon screen so I could load the Geovison software without them having to plug in a password. I also have the software log them in automatically as well so they go right into full screen monitor mode. I am trying to make it as simple as possible for them. The system will be locked in a room by itself and only they will have access. So, the consensus is I don’t have to hook up the jumper? That is what I most want feedback on. Hey BlahBlah, What’s wrong with Dell? I thought they were reliable, more reliable than me building one anyway. I learned a long time ago to let the other people figure out what parts are compatible together. I would think Dell is more expensive? What system do you recommend? Maybe I’ll try another system if the company has a good track record and it costs less? Visar, How big is your house? LoL!
