I was wondering if anyone knew how to make a time laspe movie from a GEOVISION DVR? I have a huge construction site that wants snap shots from different times of day and wants to make atime lapse movie out of them to visually show the job site progress. Any suggestions? We have a work around, but it is a manual one and it would be miserable to have to do. Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated. Adam-

Can we still buy GV900 cards? Also I wanted to ask about the 12 channel cards. Is the price difference worth the loss of channels? We recently ran into a problem with the GV1240 not allowing the AGC controls to be displayed. It is a miserable find to have the customer be so happy to hear about this fantastic DSP card and only to find out that we cannot tweak his outside cameras and inside ceiling tile mounted domes because of it. I understand that with this particular client has 5 hotels and we are doing them all. We need to keep him happy and there is no way for us to keep our pricing down to buy each camera with pro-sony ccd with dials and potentimeters and whatnots. He kills us on labor and we need to make it up on product costs. Normally they are awesome dome cameras. Special armor dome with free floatinf tri-axis gimbal which can be wall mounted top or bottom. Nice 2.6-6mm is awesome wide views too. They have one with all of the features, but approx $100 more per 22 cameras is allot to eat. But I would have done that for the potential lighty locations had we known about the DSP nightmare. Just a word of caution to out bretherin in cable! Adam-

Does anyone know why the GV-1240 would not show me the AGC option. I am going crazy, just put in 22 cameras, audio and three ptz cameras but the install is going to kill me as I cannot get the Auto Gain COntrol UNDER CONTROL!!!! Please help! I already updated the drivers on a MSI nVISIS GeFORCE MX4000 Is this card ok? First time my techs used it. Thanks for any help! Adam-

The wireless may work depending on frequency (1.2Ghz may be bad for reflections). What are relfections and why not us 900Mhz it is most certainly line of site. inside the shaft. I would run the antenna on the bottom or side of the lift or top, depending on where your home run is. Also, you could get lucky and alreay have a pair of extra wires or leads, the you could try a balun for. We do this ro avoid trenching whenever there is a gate arm operator close by inside gated communities. Simple fix if you can get to the wiring bus on the front of the elevator (behind the push buttons). Usually a snake eyes security screw is used and you can have access to the entire wire panel to search for a line to "tone" out!

I still have some chunks left of some plastic domes that I smashed, they once sold me. Ouch, one customer we had to compare apples to apples with those eclipse cameras and we had the most difficult time with these baby games non agc domes with neon lighting and outdoor glare AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

We buy them locally in Miami and we love them for so many applications, but occationally, we like to tweak them with agc. I know that it is not the best answer, but it was a nice tool. I wonder if they will aloow it to work in the future, or I am giving back my other 1240's that we have in stock Can we still buy GV900s I have to replace some of them already! Thanks again, Adam! I wanted to know if there was anyway to verify the resolution via device or by reading the ccd chip numbers?

It would be so awesome if it were able to work like an axis 2401 for certain feeds! I was also wondering if anyone had any success witl windows media encoder or real player format to stream from the cameras input? If so what captures the video and streams it before it gets to the GeoVision. Thanks in advance! AC -
Anyone been able to stop the system from rebooting on sporatic video loss? Some systems do it and some don't are we doing something wrong? Both have watchdog disconnected. Thanx!

Getting video over rough terrain

Wireless Solar Powered Camera in the middle nowhere on a 50 foot pole. Video over 10,000 feet through tree lines and it was a breeze. The 330 Amp/Hour Batteries give us 13.8 constant volts. The load of that camera is 1.2 Amps Most cameras use under 500mA. So, with a solar powered array of 15' X 9' produces 18 Amps for 4 peak hours on a hot sunny Florida afternoon. The peak radiation drops signifcantly down to 3 Amps in overcast weather. Either way, You can use IR, but how far do you really need to light up? If possible, run power lines from solar battery station to areas of interest, mounted on poles closer to the POV, instead of mounting them on the tower so high up lighting could be wasted. Unless you are using the milSpec Cantronic IR Canons that supposedly go 800 yards, (my ass). Anyway, Solar is the best choice and if you could NIX the IR prerequisite, then you could go with much smaller panels and around $1500 - $2000 for half of my set up. I hope this helps! Adam- -

How does that work? As good as a mux? I also wanted to ask why would the DSP have anything to do with video attributes? I thought it was just the video card problem as direct draw could also have an issue, it was greyed out. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Phew I feel betta! -
License Plate Capture Camera & Settings Debate

I was thinking along the lines of an automated FTP option. The FTP option works ok, but the webcam application is a pin in the ass. I wish that there was a way for the geo to display live video without having the install all of those codecs and active x controls. Is there a way of taking the code from the joeg viewer which I have successfully used for for apple computers/netscape users & pdas. If that simple java code could be embedded into a custom HTML page that would be friggen sweet baby! Adam- -
Does anyone know why the GV 1240 doesn't display the AGC button in 7.02? Also, I wanted to know of the link to the approved or known good modems to use. We have an External USR but I have heard theat that one doesn't work. Anyone heard of programming the domes via the ptz control panel? I used it and it works like a charm. NO need for the KEYBOARD baby! See ya! ADAM~

There is another way ofaccomplishing a sound when motion is detected, using the motion detection zone setting and output a wav file. With a speaker and an amplifier, you can get the same results without the mess an expense of wiring. It was a quick fix, but it works. Email me for more info if you need. Adam-

Not to mention the VooDoo Premiums we'd have to pay! No he was fully trainned prior to us hiring him and was an independent contractor. It just was a sign of bad judgement calls and things to come. Just look for the weakest link in the chain and replace it. This client is far too important to have someone not something cause a delay on the job with over $500 a day in labor! Thanks for the advice, but it was a necessary changing of the guards! Adam- -
Man you always quote the most expensive toys! Man if my clients would have the cash to pay for all of those EX this and Pelco that... Boy lemme tell ya, I would put up with all of those hair nicks and screw scars anyday! Woosh! How much more can you charge them for the fancy stuff, as I would think that you could make more monmey and still provide them with excellent quality video. Just a thought... But who are the clients who want that? All of them? are they all in the CASINO business too? Later Bahama Mama! ADAM!

What distances do you have to go? Are you using any special antennas? How much mA are these transmitters? What type of cable and connectors are you using and how long is it? We have utilized some asian non-name brand stuff and we have gone far distances. Over 10,000 feet away for a fraction of the cost of the boys who have to charge you more because they have bill marketing expenses and advertising. You don't need any thing fancy, you should look towards Amatuer TV, which happens to already share your band of 1.2Ghz. Their antennas are geared exactly for 1.2Ghz wavelength video transmission, so let me know those answers and I will try to help. Adam-

That reminds me... Still takking about my hotel owner who loves to USE us on all of his properties. But this last one, he owns the entire hotel, except for this truckers bar and twilight-zone-like restaurant. Anyway, if tell you that this place must have been a total dive, even before they ever sold their first grey hamburger! So, my guys are supposed to run 22 siamese coax, 8 Sheilded 18/2 for PTZ telemetry and Audio Lines & 6 225lb test nylon pull cords. Oops here is the first free favor he asks... Please run me one fiber optic cable and 2 blue cat6 wires. Ok, so we agree to do it. But it was a miserable run through this moldy, spider webbed, smelly kitchen and slophouse dining room. These wires had to go about 375 to DVR Rack and he also wanted slack entire to ballroom dance around the server room with the entire DVR Rack. What a long tape job to keep them wires neatly through the underground conduit we buried, across the sea of filth and through 4 huge 4" conduit holes through nasty 1 1/2 foot concrete walls & peek-a-boo re-bars. My guys are just about ready to go into the attic and pull our homerun when all of a sudden, one of my new guys from Venezuela stumbled across a friggen petrified dead cat, we are talking fur and bones on top of the restaurant's walk in freezer. Slophouse was a kind word for this place, I can assure you! This new cable humper of course was on Sh*thouse patrol all week long climbing around attics and boiler rooms and finally above that filthy kitchen. Long story short... He freaks out, refuses to go back up there and swears up and down that he has some kind of santaria or voodoo curse on him because all of the cooking in the kitchen were Haitian and giving him strange looks. He didn't realize that the strangle looks were at him because they gotta go back up there and clean it! I could not believe it the entire job came to a screeching halt and I ended up firing him and I will probably get the curse in the form of some kind of crazy lawsuit filed on my ex-employee's behalf, for discriminating against his religious beliefs! I guess the friggen guy saw that movie "The serpent and the rainbow" one too many times. Happy Cabling! Be thankful you were in Chicago, Griffon, if you were in South Florida you would have been blowing a very different dust from your nose! Thanks for the descriptions, I had some nightmare jobs and I wish there could be a place on here to post some install shots of our rats crawling up and down walls and columns in this 1950-1970's old crapola hotel chain that this Monopoly Man client of ours has been buying, remodeling and having up install just before the work starts, so we end up doing it all over again once the friggen ceilings are swapped out and the conduiting and wiring have to be moved.... Oh yeah, he also expects us to just install them and take them down, then install them again, with no extra labor. Woosh, a dream client, with nightmare prerequisites. Does anyone have any TUMS handy? Best regards, Adam Cohen - Internet Surveillance Specialist ACohen@iWATCHLiVE.COM WWW.iWATCHLiVE.COM Office - 954-772-5483 Fax - 954-252-4694 -
Thanks alot for the gpedit.msc trick.. I am not sure if it worked or not yet, I just tested it and I was 214 upload instead of the normal 202 upload, but it is late sunday night and it could just be no traffic on my local network. But I do feel like a tv-dinner version of an mcsc with that, I will call you once I totally screw up my machine! Have a good one gentlemen! This sounds like a wet dream come true! I dunno if it is gonna work, but I have some clients in South Florida who live like an insane distance away from the CO and his ADSL is giving him like 202K up and 1.1 down. I don't give a crap how fast he downloads, but his upload is messing up my Version 7.02 8 Channel 650V3's audio streaming. I can't for the life of me figure out how Bellsouth (local dsl mafia) says, that 202 is awesome even though your client is paying for 256K Up. They say it is acceptable, but he needs some extra points to get the intermittent audio and video lag, because the cheap bast*rd held back $800 from his last check because of his DSL issues. Although he signed our contract which says he has to give us his "eggs" if we goto court, but who the hell wants to go to court, or more importantly, who the hell wants "old Man River's Eggs" instead of my $800. Either way he finally said the he would up the bandwidth just to test it out, but if this fix works, You just got your self an asian massage if you meet the iwatch crew in Las Vages for ISCWest Baby! Hello Geeksies, We have found in our experiences that changing the baud rate will only make the camera stop working. If your camera is working intermittently, then I would check two things. The connections to the RS-485 and then check your GV-Net and power supply. I know it sounds like common sense, but we have had several trips across the state to repair a problem with the older exteral GV-Net boxes. Now they are all pretty and are made to fit in to the PCI slot openings on the computer case. Not inside one of the PCI slots, it gets it's power from the internal power supply, not htose cheap "wall-wart" transformers that are occationally hit and miss. Also, what software are you using to stop the tour and try and put it back. As of yet, the WEBCAM viewer from what we understand will not put the camera back to tour, but... the remote viewer software MUTLIVIEW has the the command icons to do tjust this under the VIEW menu. You move the mouse over the PTZ DEVICE text and it will open up the Internal (3550 & 3650 ports) Software. It will allow you to start and stop the tours. Post any questions in here or the proper forum or PM me as I am new in here and would love to give the same help that everyone helps me! Happy CCTV Selling Amigo!
