Yup, I need a license from my area. I'm assuming it's different for each state. I already checked with my state fire marshal and in order to legally work with CCTV, I need a license. To get a license I need to complete a certification. If I don't have a license, then they slap me with a fine. Anyway, the state fire marshal gave me a list of places on where to get certified. It's a 2 day program and I'll probably just take it in person. The next class is at the end of the month.

Should I do my CCTV certification online or in person? I don't have much experience other then the two systems I put together. The only other relation to this field is that I'm a computer enthusiast who knows how to build personal computers.

Is there a standard formula that you guys use when calculating installation costs? I'm basically asking this so that it doesn't sound like I'm throwing out numbers from thin air when I'm installing a CCTV system.

What must one do to gain access to the vendor area on the forums?

The old Donky Kong that had Mario as the hero? I'm not sure why but I loved that machine! It was the best.

Damn, that's pretty funny. Someone got a free PONG machine!
-
Hey, that's pretty cool. Did you repair arcade machines?
-
Basically, how did you get into the CCTV business and where did you get the experience from? Where was your beginning?

Anyone know if Geovision DVR cards and software are any good?

Thanks for the responses guys. Yes, I am pretty new at this. Last week I spoke with my cousin about setting up a CCTV system in his store. I told him to let me do the research and wanted to see how far I could take this venture.

I was looking for a price rage between 1500 and 2000 for a retail store that I would support. As for China, it would have to depend on how much money I'd be saving. If it's half the costs from purchasing in the states then I'd be for it. However, I don't think that's the case so I would rather stick with someone in the states in case I had some trouble with what I purchased. As for the question about TV and threat level. I don't have the slightest clue as to what type of TVs a CCTV system uses and I didn't know there were different threat levels in CCTV.

What do you mean a regular TV monitor? I believe most TVs these day are something along the lines of LCD or HDTV. Basically, I'm trying to figure out how do you hook up a DVR to a LCD screen? Also, how long was that cable? I couldn't find out how many ft itw as for 250 dollars.

Anyone can give me a reliable name brand for a DVR and cam?
