Hi, Dvr is 4 channel standalone running linux, cannot remember model.

Special Thanks to hardwired and soundy for you replies, it seems that a boundary or pzm microhpones, will be up for the job. Thanks does anyone know what wiring i should use distance to dvr will be around 15 - 20 metres, as believe these mics operate on 12v - 48v. Thanks

solved issue, had to install videoviewer software on all remote machines, then remote viewing using internet explorer work fine, it appears that the dvr requires some file or plugin from videoviewer, the down side you cannot view from anywhere such as internet cafe or whilst on holiday.

Service monitor, ptz, multimeter tester
SAJEEL replied to bpzle's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Hi, I have used this one. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-8-Colour-CCTV-Camera-Video-PTZ-UTP-Cable-Tester-Monitor-/120778196410?pt=UK_Consumer_Professional_RL&hash=item1c1ef105ba purchased off ebay for around £90, can use for ptz, only drawback i need to make a lead for ptz using rj50 such as pelco, as they use a 10 pin rj50 connector. The model you are looking is identical except it has power for cctv as well, it is good tool to test cameras, ptz, and setup varifocal cctv when up on a ladder as you have screen to make adjustments until pictures are clear. Hope this helps pm me if you require any more info. Sajeel -
I will be wiring an audio microphone can i use co-axial cable with bnc connectors and use bnc plug to phono adaptor to carry the audio as i will need to run over a fair distance. Also do i need to use a pre amp am using this mic http://www.sctltd.co.uk/cgi-bin/ss000002.pl?page=search&SS=au10&ACTION=Go!&PR=-1&TB=A camera will be powered by 12v power supply will i need pre amp for dvr ? Thanks in advance.

I have setup microphone using RG59+dc (shotgun cable) quality is good as co-axial does not suffer loss as rca wire would.

A client of mine needs audio installed, current setup is 16ch standalone dvr setup on lan, has audio inputs and output, i will be using loop in microphone / or stand alone microphone. From my knowledge i need to run power for mic, rca wire for audio, 2x rca connectors, pre amp (any suggestions ?) also can audio be heard live and is recording assigned to a particular channel ? , client would like to be able view live recordings on lan using laptop and view 16ch and listen to live audio. Any help is appreciated, let me know if you require any more information. Regards, Sajeel Noor

I am located in uk, london i was planning on using this mic AU10 http://www.sctltd.co.uk/cgi-bin/ss000002.pl?page=search&SS=au10&ACTION=Go!&PR=-1&TB=A camera is 12v powered will i need pre amp for this ? Thanks for your reply

Hi, If your tv is bnc, plug each camera into tv and test, could be faulty dvr, but that would eliminate dvr / wiring, sounds like wiring problem too me, did you buy pre made co-ax or make your own.
-
The only way to do this would be to complicated and you need the computers with software connected to internet and running dvr software, then you can upload content and stream to website, but it involves complicated coding as well, but is not impossible. The second easier option is to upgrade dvr to web based remote viewing and you can log in anywhere using internet explorer and view cameras. Saj

Hi, Has anyone set up a vsi pro text inserter from till to a pelco pc based dvr, i just wanted to know about the rs232 port and can i use standard rs232 with an adaptor to make a rs232 triport cable as manual states.

I have installed a Pelco Spectra III DD5BC-X with housing, I have wired up video with bnc and power into connectors, i have come to realize that this unit requires 24Vac @ 2a, can i power this using a dc power supply or not as the other cameras all require 12v dc Or will i need to buy a separate power for this camera, as i have been able to power up or test. Thanks in advance for your replies.
-
I have obtained 24vac power supply and all is working fine, many thanks.

I am setting up VSI pro, just need to clarify, i will be using rs232 from till to vsi, then a y splitter and and use rs232 connectors as i have already ran cat5 from dvr to vsi box as i only need two wires pins 3 and 5 from vsi to pins 2 and 5 on dvr serial port, i can one pair of utp for this and use another pair for ground connection.

DVR is pelco, vsi is pelco too dvr model is dx8100 It shows in manual that you can link to vsi to get data.
