  1. Hello All, I'm using AVTECH KPD 679/67x. Trying to do direct backup from the usb port of the DVR. If I plug an USB Flash Disk 4 GB into the DVR, the DVR can recognize the UFD and can backup data into the UFD. But when I plug an external USB Hard Disk, either 2.5 inch or 3.5 inch, both external USB is not recognized by the DVR. So I cannot backup data into the external HD. What is the problem? Anybody success to do direct backup to USB External HDD? Is there any compatibility problem? Or related to the file system/FAT32/NTFS? Thanks.
  2. Hi All, We are using Avtech DVR, 16 Channel KPD 679. Our customer needs to save the recorded data for 18 month. The problem is, transferring/backup data from DVR to local PC using Video Viewer, takes very long time. 5 minutes video need almost 5 minutes transfer time, for one camera. It seems it is not possible to backup data this way, not enough time for 16 cameras. What I have tried: 1. Plug out the DVR hard drive and install it into PC. We can read the content of the hard drive, but cannot play it from the PC. The extension of the files is .stream. Anyway to play these files? If we can do this, then we can replace the DVR's hard drive every 2 or 3 months. 2. Backup to external disk via the DVR USB port. But DVR can only detect small size USB Flash Disk. External USB HDD is not recognized. Not sure about the transfer time too. Is there any solution for this problem? Thanks. Anto

AVTECH, saving 18 months recorded data

Under normal operation, we can backup the video to local drive. It comes with an 'avc' extension. It also gives us a player program to play the AVC files. Using this program, we can convert the AVC to AVI. Using disktool provided by Leohuangdi, we can unplug the Hard drive from the DVR and install it to Windows PC. We can access the hard drive and play the video inside. But for my case, almost all data cannot be played, especially data with 'SYSTEM' attribute. The error is 'The event file is not existing'. Anybody use disktool before? Got the same problem? Any newer version of Disktool? Another problem with disktool, we cannot fast forward when viewing in disktool. Thanks.

AVTECH, saving 18 months recorded data

Leohuangdi, Thanks for your program. I've tried disktool, it can read the DVR hard drive and list the data. But i cannot play the data, cannot play almost all data. There are data with 'SYSTEM' attribute and 'MANUAL' attribute. I can play the manual data, but not the system data. Almost all the data attribute is SYSTEM data. My DVR recording mode is automatic, everytime it turned on, itu record all the time. https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0B_62HtPpTIKHMTAxYjc4M2YtMzIyMC00Nzk2LWI2NzYtOGFiYzZjYWM5MGNl&hl=en_US Btw, my DVR had wrong date setting, 14 august 2011. Any problem with this? Thanks.
  5. Leohuangdi posted this program, I have tried it, unplug your hard drive from the DVR, install the hard drive to a windows PC, install the program, then we can read the data/video from the HD. But I have problem here, I can see the data, but most data cannot be played. viewtopic.php?f=3&t=26583 https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&pid=explorer&chrome=true&srcid=0B_Tf3Yb1yhhROWI2ZWU2MmQtZTE3ZC00NjVlLTgwNjItNzBlNjk3ZmQzZDky&hl=en_US&authkey=CP2o9toI Thanks.
  6. Hi All, I'm testing AVTECH KPD 679Z-D, 16 channel. Firmware Version: 1013-1004-1002-1003 Using a PC connected to the DVR, using Video Viewer software, we can view the live video, working fine. When we try to playback recorded video, from the video viewer, I click ke 'play' button, it just playback the last hour video, show up all the 16 channel. It didn't ask what date and time for the playback video. So we cannot preview yesterday or lastweek video? Any idea we can solve this problem? Thanks. Anto
  7. Hi All, I just bought IP camera, TPLINK 3130G, without built-in IR. In dark condition, this IP camera cannot see anything, just all black. I installed this IP cam beside an analog dome camera with IR, just to know if the IR from the dome camera can help this IP camera see in darkness. But it seems the IR from analog camera cannot help the IP cam to see in darkness. When viewed at the same time, in dark condition, the dome can see in darkness, the IP cam still cannot see anything, totally all black in monitor. Any idea to make the IP cam can see in darkness? Thanks. Anto
  8. Let say you have 4 camera installed. When there is motion in camera1, it seems that the DVR will record all the 4 channel, right? Can we make it when there is motion in camera1, it only records camera1, not all the camera/channel? In the DVR screen, when there is motion, itu will show up a new yellow icon (running man icon), when it is recording, it will show up a green icon (camera icon). Thanks. Anto
  9. Dear All, I'm going to install 2 unit of Avtech KPD677ZA (H.264, 8 channel) on 2 different site. Both site is connected with wireless LAN. So we can view both site, one site at a time, using computer. Is it possible to view both dvr, using one monitor, at the same time? Is it possible to combine all the 16 camera into one monitor? So we only need one monitor? Thanks. Anto

    Connection problem with KPD-674Z...

first, try to connect it over lan, is it is okay, then we can try to connect via internet. to connect via internet: 1. make sure you have public ip, if it is not static, you can use dyndns to map your ip to a subdomain name. you have to register to dyndns. 2. have to set your router for port mapping. make sure your dvr port is not blocked by your isp, if blocked, pls change your dvr port. 3. try to connect a few times...
  11. okay, problem solved. scorpion, thanks a lot.
  12. Hi, I've tried a few different types of DVR and DVR Cards. For remote viewing, they usually come with a client software need to installed into client computer (usually this client software only runs under Windows) Some of the DVR can also be viewed from internet browser, but we have to install active-x component. This type of DVR can only be viewed from Internet Explorer which support active-x, cannot be viewed from firefox or not Windows PC. I've never tried viewing from mobile phone. Because there are many kind of phones. How do we know which DVR is capable for phone viewing? Should we install special application come with the DVR into the phone? Or are there any standard phone application that can view almost all type of DVR? Or any additional application installed into PC DVR that makes remote viewing become easy for any type of phone/PC? I asked Dlink about their IP camera. They said they are using RTSP protocol for remote viewing, no client software needed, and can be view from almost all OS/PC/Phone. Is this true? RTSP protocol is/will become standard for CCTV remote view? Any DVR/card support RTSP protocol? AVTech? Thanks.

    RG59 Braid density : Important?

Should the braid must made of copper? I usually use Cable Pro with 90% or 95% braid coverage, I think the braid is not made of copper, but some kind of metal colored white/silver/iron color, not yellow/copper. Is it okay? I think even Belden coax cable, the braid is not made of copper? Thanks.
  16. Hello All, We have a PC DVR System, running almost 6 month, with 16 camera ( 2 x 8 Ch), DVR Card is China brand, PCI slot. At the back side of the card, it use somekind of pigtail, one DB15 to eight BNC port. Installation is using coax cable, not UTP or IP cam. Adaptor/power supply for each camera is plugged near the camera, we bring the 220 VAC near the camera, no POE. Last 2 weeks, one of the camera broken, we replace with another camera, but still no image for that camera, we replace the pigtail, the video is on now. 5 hours later, the camera got broken too. We replace another one, 5 hours later, broken too. The coax cable output of the camera is melted/burned. Camera have two short cable, one for power/12VDC, and one for camera data/coax. The melted one is the coax pigtail at the camera side. We replace another one, also replace the adaptor. Within 5 hours, the pigtail (1 to 8 BNC) at the PC side, got burned and melted, make a lot of smoke at the computer room. Almost all cameras is installed at outdoor, all camera is of same type, IR outdoor half egg shape, without enclosure. Anybody please help? Thanks.

    melted/burned coax cable

I though we have found the problem. This camera is installed on an iron pole, lighting pole. This camera is mounted directly to this pole. This pole is somehow strange. Sometime (not always) it could contain really high voltage electricity, sometime it is not. I think this is related to some machine running in the factory. We have isolated the camera from this iron pole, using wood material, so the camera did not touch the iron pole. Hope this can solve the problem. Btw, the pole is stuck to ground/earth/concrete ( we don't know the pole depth under the ground). if there is electricity there, would it go to the ground, rather than to the DVR side? One more thing, the camera is mounted somewhere, leaving the camera plug to the coax cable, but the adaptor is not plugged to the camera. Unplug the coax from the DVR card pigtail. Using test pen to test the coax cable at the DVR side, the surrounding braid and the center core, sometime one/both of them would contain electricity (the test pen will bright on), is this normal? is this dangerous? must be avoided? Thanks.
  18. Hello All, We are going to install 16 camera in a warehouse. Mostly are indoor cameras. Average cable length for each camera is around 250 m = 830 feet. Totally, we will need around 3000 m = 10000 feet. We usually use coax RG59/U. To reduce cost in cable, we plan to use Cat5E and passive baluns. Electricity(220 VAC) will use its own electricity cable, daisy chained to all the cameras. Adaptor 12 VDC is installed near each camera. Cat5E cable has 4 pairs of cable, and each set of balun only need 1 pair of cable. 1. Can we use one Cat5E cable for 4 camera near to each other? 2. Is there any video quality issue using one Cat5E for 4 camera compare to one Cat5E for each camera? 3. Can we improve the video quality by doubling the pairs? We put together the orange+white orange for the +, and then blue+white blue for the -. Instead of orange for the + and white orange for the -. 4. The + and - connecting two balun side need to be one pair/twisted? Any idea is welcome. Thanks. Anto

    Cat5E and baluns

Thanks bro. I've calculated the cost. Using RG59/U, total cost is around 6000 usd. While using Cat5E+baluns, total cost is around 5600 usd. The difference is 'only' around 400 usd. Total cost is including PC, cameras, cable, labour, etc. So, which alternative is better? Which one has a better picture quality? Thanks. Anto

    Cat5E and baluns

Thanks for your replies. Yes, my last question is if we must use one pair (twisted) to connect the + and -. So we cannot use telephone cable which is not twisted in pair. Hopefully, using this methode, we can reduce cost for the cable. Thanks. Anto
