    Installation Prices

Somewhere between double and 4 times the equipment cost. Depends on what the customer is willing to pay. Would include a few pdf files if i knew how to.

    Flickering problem

    Anyone...
  3. We just finished a 26 camera job, replacing all old cameras with new ones, and adding a few more. Put in 2 16 Channel HUNT DVR's. Have a few problems , with scrolling lines. Haven't really tried to fix it yet, but would could be the problem? Never really had to worry about that before, because all our systems have been up to 16 cameras, and have not had any problems. Bidding on a job with 64 cameras tommorow (replacing 4 16 channel multiplexors and the cameras in a hotel). Couple of questions on these bigger jobs and how to approch them: 1. 12 or 24 Volts? Thats the least suceptible to ground problems etc? What other benifits are there? 2. Individually isolated power supplies? http://altronix.com/index.php?pid=2&model_num=ALTV2416I Does it make a difference when it comes to ground loops/ problems etc. On these big jobs I would much rather spend $100 extra to get a great power supply if it means less chance of a headache. 3. What is the best way to control so many cameras without spending a zillion dollars on a pelco matrix system, or a Dedicated Micro system? Need 4 good DVR's that you can control all the functions from a camera controler. Nuvico is coming out with one, but it is a few months out. Suggestions please!!!

32 cameras and up, type of jobs.

Did soe research about the subject and it seems the matrix system is the way to go, specially if you have mutiple monitors. Wondering though have the DVR would interface with the system? Like a multiplexor type way so it would only record every 24 frame in a 24 camera system for example or...? Individullay isolated channels on a power supply or...?

    New Nuvico DVR

Has some good specs. Good DVR brand, dynamic IP support, USB back up?, Mpeg is a question mark through. http://nuvico.com/product/detail.html?product_id=56 Anyone tried it. Hard to find a good 8 channel for a decent price. (low budget jobs)

    Lexion dvr

My company has probably put in 10 of them by now. The one with the cd-r. Best dvr in that price class. It just works. Good recording quality.
  9. Doing a job where we are putting 3 cameras on a wood pole. Can not run wire to the DVR. Getting power from the pole. Distance to DVR building: 200 feet. Only a couple of trees in between. Thinking about something like this. Questions 1. Are the specs overkill or...? 2. Are using 3 cameras, so do I need to get 3 kits and set them on different channels or? Any chance of interference that way or? 3. Is there a 4 camera transmitter reciver or...? Is this the best soulution? http://www.videocommtech.com/index.php?SCREEN=view_catalogue_level4&model_ID=303#galleries
  10. Probably a better idea. I'll talk to the customer.
  11. Good specs on that Ambush dome. They are just down the street from me. Never knew. Thanks! The place where we are putting in the domes are kind of dark and a small open area outside. The camera would just be less then 8 feet from the doors. Don't really need Auto Iris, and I was thinking that the IR might cause the Mechanical IR to switch all the time. Whay do you think?

Nice cams, I know but the customer does not want IR. Will probably go with KT & C. They at least have an EXView one with a 0.05 Lux. Rory, The Vandal Proof dome is the only way to go for business atleast if it is an "open to the public" area. I also got tired of running around fixing broken cameras.
  18. The bottle neck for "straming speed" is more the upload speed at the DVR location together with compression type, quality setting and resulotion settings at the DVR and not so much the download speep at the viewing location. Go for a DVRwith H.263 or Mpeg-4 compression if you want great download speed and good quality. Wavelet is kind of slow, even if it records better.

UPDATED NEEDS ON A 4 TO 8 CAMERA DVR

http://www.gailro.com/lexioncctv_com/product/content.asp?name=products&category=stand&number=32 Set one channel to record in 704 X 240 (the 704 X 480 is not much of a difference, and way slower remotely), the other to record in 352 X 240. The problem is that the higher the res , the slower the remote speed. The unit supports 4 channel audio. Make sure that the camera facing the cash machine is really zooming in on the registrer. Makes alot bigger difference then resolution etc. You do need a text inserter also, like http://www.americanvideoequipment.com/catalog/vsi-pro.htm
  20. http://www.active-tek.com/jun/HtmlPro/product1-1.htm We are installing our 6th one tomorrow. I have to say that after trying a number of 4 channel DVR's this one really has everything we could possibly want. Great recording quality, real time recording, MPEG-4, works ecxcelent with dynamic IP, EASY FOR THE CUSTOMER TO USE!! Found out today that a 8 and 16 channel version will be avalible in June. My search for the donut shop/ liqour store DVR is over! If you install alot of smaller systems like we do, where the customer want remote viewing, do yourself a favor and try one.

Problem with Light dark and bright

It's the Auto Iris lens that goes haywire. Tweek the DC gain.

Problem with Light dark and bright

Had the same problem with a couple of vandal proof dome cameras w/Auto Iris. On those cameras, if you changed the DC gain control for the lens a notch it got rid of the problem. Try that.

    F-conn VS BNC

you mean they really suck suck teet .. No, I did actually mean "sucks"
  25. I don't know if it makes much of a difference. The cheaper Chinese cable is easer to work with and you could still hang a cow with it. Compare it to alot of other wires like alarm, cat-5 etc. Still alot sturdier. Rather spend the money on a DVR that actually has qood playback quality
