Ganz ZC-Y30NH4 Hi Res Color Camera

That's a great price for the Ganz. How is the camera in low light. What's that WD Bosch camera? XF something...?
  4. We usually put a mini dome right above the door facing inwards instead because of the back light issue. Does the same trick, and no backlight issue.
  5. Was at the ISC show. It seems like the new thing in CCTV are HD cameras. The picture quality is so much better then the regular CCTV cameras. Kind of expensive right now, but the price will come down like all new technology. In general I don't think the resolotion, camera, dvr, lenses is the main problem, more the installation where people are trying to cover to much ground with the cameras. We always put in a "door camera" at every exit to get a really good close up for identification, and then just use the the rest of the cameras to get the "action". The distance to the subject makes alot bigger difference then the resolution of the camera. Outside is slightly more difficult though...

    Which manufacturer?

New DVR on HUNT's Web site. Did not see the web gate one anymore. http://huntcctv.com/HTR-16%209%204.htm As, Rory said, the Web gate one has all those things. Only 1 channel audio though. Great DVR. http://wisemicro.com/XT608.htm What's the web address to Webgate anyway.
  7. http://www.gailro.com/lexioncctv_com/product/content.asp?name=products&category=stand&number=32 We talked about this one earlier. Think it is made by Nui$#%* Have been wanting to try it for a while but could not find a dealer in L.A. Found one at the ISC show, and they are based 15 blocks away from us! Picked one up last week and played around with it for a day and then installed it in a cafe. Verdict: This is one cool DVR! 1. Built in CD-RW 2. Supports dynamic IP. They have there own registry server that the DVR connects to every 10 min to relay the IP info. Best way if you are using Dynamic IP by far! 3. Mpeg-4, so good remote frame rate. 4. Recording Res up to 720 X 480, with 5 different recording qualities that can be set individually by channel including frame rate! 5. Motion, built in alarm inputs and relay. 6. 4 audio inputs and 1 audio outputs. Supports 1 or 2 way audio conferecing. Obiously audio dealy depends on DSL connection speed. 7. Very user friendly. 8. VGA monitor input what actually looks great! Usally not the case for stand alones. Nice for those flat screen customers. 9.Remote client of web browser based. 10. All settings can be accessed remotely. Reording res. frame rate. color etc. 11. very good remote client. easy to use, saving files, printing etc. 12. Very good price. See dealer section. 13. Real time recording on 320 X 240 14. Remote control. Cons: 1. Playback on browser based version, only on remote client. 2. Can't change username, only password. 3. Only a 4 channel model. 4. Only 4 user can log in at the same time, so not for pre schools. The VPON is the best dvr for that. Considering that the market is for this DVR, I think it is the best stand alone by far for the price in terms of features. For more info, see dealer section.

    Another random thought

Got a Bulldog. Way better then a Camera System. I was actually thinking about putting one up to find out what dog owners don't pick up the **** from our lawn. That's a real usefull application.
  10. Spent 2 days at the show, and came back yesterday. Couple of interesting things. 1. HD Cameras. A few companies are starting to manufacture CCTV HD cameras, and the quality is just amazing!! Almost like watching TV. Of course the problrm is DVR recording resulotion, file size, streaming speed etc. but give it some time. I think that is where CCTV is going. 2. Intelligent camera tracking motion software. Not a totally new concept but really expensive before. Is being built in to the dvr and a lot cheaper, better etc. 3. License plate capturing cameras made more affordable. Can't afford Extreme CCTV's reg view. Found better pricing on the HUNT DVR's. See dealer section

  13. Saw it. Diden't quite get the point of it though.
  14. I saw that LCD/ DVR to. Prtty slick. It's made by Argus also, just like every other DVR Intellicam has. They also has this new 4/8/16 DVR (by Argus) that uses JPG 2000. Had Argus demo it for me, and the recording quality looks good, kind of like a good Wavelet with no blocks. Rory, I had Powertech (or Powert...) demo that 4 channel DVR with the RCA connectors you reviewed. The recording quality of that thing is really great! Though that was the highligt of the DVR. What did you think of the recording quality?

    DVMR-8CD and high res recording

http://www.arguscctv.com/ Intellicam being the OEM. Don't think so. We use to install the 4 and 8 channel version. They just added the cd burner. Other then that it is the same dvr. Cheapest DVR out there with a cd burner. Telpix carries it in Los Angeles also. www.telpix.com You get what you pay for.

    DVMR-8CD and high res recording

That DVR is made by Argus in Korea I think. We talked about this DVR only a million times before. We put in 10-15 of them in the beginning. The recording quality is really bad, and you can't adjust it. The network viewer keeps locking up all the time. Real cheap stuff. Interesing about the Samsung brand theory. it. I am going to start buying SONY CD-RW to put in the the DVR's so I can sell them as SONY DVR's.

    Suggestion: Users Only Topic

I think in general, the people who buy the dvr cards are " do-it-yourself" kind of guys who like to fiddle with things, who wants a ton of features that no normal person would never use. Joe Blow who opens up his first store has more important things to think about (like how to make money) then to fiddle with his new camera system. I feel more and more like an end user, give me something that works, looks good when i play back material, and does not crash. Also be able to see the cameras on the net without having to install some program from a cd that will be lost in 2 days is also a big plus. Kind of focused in on 4-5 dvr in different price groups that I know are good. I think looking for new dvr's every week lost a little bit of it's charm. I think the whole access control system with integrated cctv is more challening. Just have to find the jobs...

    Suggestion: Users Only Topic

Sorry, you are right. The dealer forum is not as happening as you might think. I do think that dealer pricing should be kept to the dealers. Why? Because if we would install these system, and just charge for the labor we would go out of business in a second. I usally double the price of the equipment when we install the systems, and still no money in the bank so... These systems requir quite abit of knowledge about cameras, lenses and dvr's to setup so they work well and most of the public do not get that. So if we put in a 4 cam system in a liquar store which takes 3-4 hours, we should only make $300 on that? Won't work. I do find it amusing with all the problems people seem to have with these windows based dvr cards. Why not buy a stand alone for $500, put it in a closet and forget about it, instead of figeuring out windows drivers. Thats why very few installation companies that do any kind of volume installs stand alones. Service calls cost money, and beside s that, who has the time.

    RG6 CABLE

RG-6 Quad is better then regular RG-6. We usally use quad for cable tv in houses. Less sensitive for electrical interference.

    Suggestion: Users Only Topic

Does that mean that the "dealers" do not have to see all the questions "users" have about the "dvr" odd ball capture cards that users buy from radio schack and other places. Hmm, I don't see why not.

    This is funny!

I am still regretting putting in that pro video DVR. I am actually thinking about going back and replacing it with a VPON dvr. I am convinced that that is the worst DVR ever made. What a piece of work. The Hunt DVR is way better then the Speco one.

    This is funny!

I think Hunt DVR could well compete with the GE dvr's atleast on the local recording quality. I was mainly going to use them when remote viewing is not an issue. Like the fact that it has a spot monitor output, that can be triggered by motion, so the camera that is triggered would plop up on the 2:nd monitor. Nice also that they come with a remote, and that you can control up to 99 DVR's (I think) from 1 remote. Alot of high end DVR's do not have that. Doing a 250 Unit condo building in LA. 2 16 channel dvr, sticking them in the equipment rack under the desk and using a xantech IR extender to control the DVR's. Nicer then a bulky controller anyway + you get all the functions from the remote. Still like the VPOn for remote viewing. Just works, but the recorging quality of the Hunt one is probably better.
