I was thinking about using them for the hogh end stuff. Though they ere good, but never tried one myself. The 8 channel and the 16 channel has the same algorith and everything so no difference there. Have they ever crashed on you? Di you still get a good remote viewing experiance if the recording quality is set to max?

So you have the 16 channel Hunt/Webgate DVR? Thinking about using a couple of them for a job. How is the recording quality compared to the live view??? Any problems with it. Also used a couple of the Everfocus ones. How do you think they compare / ifference, specially with the recording quality. Really like to know!! Thanks, Fredrik

Has anyone tried it. I am wondering about the SSNR noise reduction technology, since most Day/Night cameras I have seen turn pretty grainy at night. http://www.samsungtechwin.com

Was thinking about the 721 but the camera is just going to over look a pool so I think it would be overkill. The 520 sounds interesting. I have a Ganz camera sitting here with a mechanical IR cut filter, and it is really grainy at night. Good Tameron lens, so.. Herm, keep us posted of the result from that 520 cam.

Or the SDN-520. Whats the difference anyway.

Putting toghether a 6 camera system for a customer. He wants to be able to read the licence plates on the cars, so really high res. Parking lot with 2 entrances. 50 ' accross. Decent lighting at night. Wants remote viewing but probably wont work if you are recording in 740 X 480. Budget for equipment $2000 - 2500. 4 cameras outside. Those are the key ones. Questions: What compression looks really best??? My experience would tell me Wavelet or MPEG-2. Thinking about: Tatung 17" with 700 Li Some sanoy D/N Maybe a Nuvico or Hunt DVR It seems like you get a better b/w image with a good bullet camera verses a box camera. Box cameras usally looks way to grainy. Why is that. Any suggestions

Agree. What do feel makes this one better? The recording quality or... Its using Mpeg right.. Can you change the recording quality like low, mid, high

The PDVR-R4000 or...

I have to say that if you use a VCR with super VHS, that looks better then 90% of the DVR's out there. Probably tried 20 different DVR's and not really impressed by any of them.

Put one in a year ago. Agree. They do look like $%#*&^*

The I-view looks kind of interesting. The thing is that the system is mainly going to be used to watch people live, and i feel you get alot better live view on a standalone since here is no A/D D/A conversion taken place. However the system needs to have great recording quality to. Will only be recording by motion/events, so HD space is not really an issue. I like the VPON for the "PC based " DVR's. easer to explain to the customer how to work it. Hunt opinions please

What about 720 X 480 verses 640 X 480. Anyone actually see a difference?? Thinking about a Hunt DVR. Wavelet, 720 X 480, Quadplex, great remote viewing and remote. Has anyone tried them?? How is the recording quality?? They also have an 8 channel version with the same specs. I am also doing a parking garage with 25 something cameras and I am really thinking about using 2 of theese, but like to get some opions first. No remote viewing, so recording quality is the main thing. Opinons please

I am starting to build DVR and I need some good looking cases. Been using the 3 Unit rack cases, but they are so deep. Does not work all the time. Need something with 2 PCI slots, or up, ATX board size and have a slot for a cd-rw in front. Do not like the tower. Need something that looks like a standalone DVR, either silver or black. Trying to avoid the "gaming machine look with blinking neon light, or the dusty gray pc tower look. Any Ideas would be greatly helpful Thanks,

Looks good, but could not find them on the net. Are the Micro ATX, and who has then in US

get a s-video to rca converter and then a rca to bnc. $10 total

Still like this one the beas http://www.directron.com/sf101bk.html When you lay it down it actually looks like an exclusive dvr, specially for people who do not know what a dvr looks like. Ordered one yesterday. $50 with shipping compared o $150 for the server cases, and it is not so clumsy. Ever tried to find room for a 24" deep server case in a 200 SqFeet donut shop. Not easy

Using PC ATX power supplies to power up CCTV cameras?
FredB replied to PKL-Lap's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
You might also be able to use a blender. Just dissconect the power to the motor and connect it to the cameras instead. In that way you can give the cameras more power at night when it is dark. -
Honeywell's North star system. Simple, 2 door, 2 proxy, up tp 2000 users, 10,000 events.
-
Might only support low profile PCI cards.
-
PS. The VPON cards are not very long. 5 inches or so..
-
Thanks for al the tips. I was doing some research and found this one that I really like. http://www.directron.com/sf101bk.html A question Micro ATX. Is there any draw backs using micro atx boards besides the limited amount of PCI slots. I get the impression when I look at the case that I can fit 3 capture cards plus 1 video cards in the case. Will be using them with a celeron 2,4 CPU and the VPON cards I am going to use it mainly for smaller system (4-8 channels) so I only need 1 hard drive and 1 cd burner bay. I have bean using the imageshape cases, the 3 unit one. Will continue to use them for the bigger systems.
