yes, you can listen to the audio live and during playback. The only issue I ran into was using backup. you need to make sure you have the camera on the right channel for audio to work using backup. In my case channel 5 is tied to audio 1. So when you backup channel 5 and play it back you will hear the audio. -
The Audio source is on Audio 1 but it plays back on Channel 5. Audio 2 plays on Ch6, Audio 3 on Ch7 and Audio 4 on Ch8. I moved the camera with matching Audio to Channel 5 - so we are ready for the next incident. Now I just need to figure out how to merge the Aug 28th incident where I have Video on Ch1 and Audio on Ch6

It's a AVTECH AVC 787 - It too has a dead battery and during a backup process it hung and had to be power cycled which reset the date/time to Jan 1, 2000. Apparently the Backup option searches backwards though the recorded data by date and when it hit's the time stamp Jan 1, 2000 it stops the searching. I can view the Aug 28th footage using search system events. The audio and video are intact. I am unable to trigger a backup to CD or USB from that playback screen. I need to backup video w/audio from Aug 28th. I can't get the audio to play over the network so CD/USB seems to be my only option.

I finally got the audio to work - I selected all channels and created a CD. I found the audio from audio input 1 on channel 5. How can I merge the backup from channel 1 and channel 5?

I need to backup some files from 8/28 to CD. My problem is on 8/29 I power cycled the DVR and the date reset to Jan 2000. Now when I try to backup data past 8/29 I get 8/29 files, it won't go past 8/29. The data is there because I can seach for system event and bring it up in playback mode.

ok, I went back to the site and burner a CD - no audio. It's a AV 787, I can listen to the audio in playback using a speaker. But I can't seem to get the audio on USB, CD, Network. The camera is on channel 1 and the audio is on inout 1, again in playback everything is fine video/audio are perfect. How can I get the audio, the police want a copy. I was thinking about connecting the audio output to my laptop. btw Audio 1 (P) is slected during playback.

I have a recorded incident that includes important audio. Audio playback is fine at the DVR you can hear the incident through the attached speaker. But I can not figure out how to backup the recorded audio. I've tried backup to USB, Backup to CD and Backup to my laptop over the network. Help!!!

787 Playback.exe won't install on XP Pro

I ran the backup and selected CD. The playback.exe off the CD worked just fine. Hmmm? I also solved another problem - If your trying to backup with sound make sure you change the audio setting from Listen to Playback. For example; if you have a camera on channel 1 with sound recording and have a speaker connected to the DVR you probably have the audio set to AUDIO 1 (L) Listen. Change it to AUDIO 1 (P) Playback before you create your backup. -
Is there another way to convert *.787 files? Playback won't install on my XP Pro machine, opens a dos screen and then immedately closes.
