OH NO! AXIS 207MW Lens assembly has come apart...
cctvnewbie posted a topic in General Digital Discussion
Hi guys, there is a clear design issue with this camera...in this case, the lens assembly. It came apart while I was turning the focus ring. Not good Anyway, I, like some others on the axis support forum, have tried to put the assembly back together, but failed. The image is blurry at best...and I have tried alot of combinations of the idividual lens elements. The AXIS help desk team are not helping by just saying sorry, over a year old so can not help. So can anyone help? Perhaps suggest... 1) How I can get a new lens. 2) The sequence of assembling the lens? Surely some of you guys must have a broken 207MW that you can get a lens assembly from and post it to me? I'd be more than happy to pay a reasonable amount for it and shipping. It's absolutely crazy to throw away a $400 camera because a $10 lens fell apart! HELP! Andrew Australia. -

Hi, it increased significantly IIRC, from 5 fps to 8-9fps at full sxga resolution...image was also much better. -

GREAT NEWS! I spent a few days going methodically through the combinations and I got it to work! Huge thankyou goes to all the team there at Axis who had offered to help me out in a time of need! They had taken it to the country manager and out of pitty for me (and goodwill on their part) were going to provide a replacement lens for me AT NO COST - I just needed to pay for the shipping which on UPS would have been over $100AUD..but hey - that's very kind of them. I would certainly have taken them up on the offer (at my courier cost) if I'd not gotten it working tonight. I'll most certainly purchase further Axis products. No hesitation. I even updated to the latest firmware 4.44 and changed a few things like image low light max gain (now 10.5) and the picture and frame rate is better than it ever was! So happy! I put up some pictures on photobucket to help anyone else who has this issue in the future. It is only the first few parts of the inside of the lens ...there are another 3 or 4 elements in addition to the ones shown that I did not remove (incl. the rear IR filter - I think that's what it is anyway). But it's better than nothing and likely will only be these first parts that fall out. Needless to say you need to make sure you clean the lens elements carefully. link to the elements inside the 207MW lens and their correct order Hope this helps someone avoid my issues! -
Woman watches home while burglers are taking what they want!

Yep, should be used as a sales video by cam. firms. Facial recognition is why I bought/want megapixel cameras...no point in saying to the copper, see look at that blury video, no there, seeI told you someone stole my plasma tv... -
Wireless IP cameras
cctvnewbie replied to Rio_Grande's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Axis have many wireless IP cameras, even megapixel. See models with W at the end. Just don't expect great frame rates over wireless. I now use my 207MW wired as it gives 10fps (at full res.) as opposed to wireless of 1fps wirelss (802.11G) if I recall correctly. I also have a vivotek wireless and it's not much better even though it's a lower res. and dual antenna. So it's been wired up now too. -
Axis droping prices!!!
cctvnewbie replied to thewireguys's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
A price drop is always a good thing...pitty the AUD is not that good against the USD at the moment...Will just have to keep waiting. I wonder how long it will take to pass through to Australia. -

What do you have the max gain set to? I changed mine in my 207MW to 10.5dB and it changed from grainy to quite good. -
G'day as you can see from my user id I am new to this scene, (but not new to computers and technology)... I have posted to ask your help. I have been reading the forum posts for a few days. I have pretty much set my mind on a Geovision GV800, it's for home use but I do like quality toys My question is this : What is the best (read cheapest) place to buy a GV800 16 channel from (pref. in Australia)? I know support and backup etc etc is important, but after 20 years in IT I can learn all that myself...what I want is a genuine card (not a cheap knockoff the only runs v6) but I do not want to pay moree than I need to. I have read on the forums the at some here do not like Geovision's distribution model, but now, i want to take advantage of that and get the best deal for me and I'd like to buy from and Ausie dealer in doing it. Can anyone here help? The current alternative looks like an e-bay deal from US or UK at about $400AUD - $450AUD. Anyone in Aus match or better this? Thanks and apologies that my first post is asking this, you guys are the experts though Andrew[/u]
