Im not sure if this DVR is set up right or not but when I want to go back to watch previous footage I press the play button and it takes me to the most recently recorded footage. I put it on rewind x32 and it only takes me back about half an hour and then wont rewind anymore and says "Frame End". There is more footage before that and I am able to get to it by looking at the motion event log, but why cant I watch all the footage in a flowing motion (when one motion time event ends it automatically goes to the next, and to next and so on without stooping) without having to go into the log and pick a time period? On the previous DVR I had I was able to watch all the recorded footage on the HDD without any interruption but on the AVC791 when the "frame end" comes up it wont fast forward or rewind anymore. Is there a way to watch it in a flowing motion?

Just wondering if there are any free noise reduction software out there. I'm trying to clean this image up a bit just as a test. http://img177.imageshack.us/img177/4792/20091030193728.png

I have purchased a new Siamese BNC cable with power and video. The problem is that When I hook it up to the camera, there are some wavy horizontal lines on the screen. I though maybe it was because the cable was in a bundle but then I unwinded it and the same thing is happening. I also used a different cable that I have on the same camera and there were no lines. This cable is 100 feet long and the other one I used was 60 feet, I need the 100 foot one for a camera farther from the DVR. Could this be some kind of interference or is the cable just bad? I double checked all my connections to makes sure they were pushed in all the way and they were.

Today I moved my LTS dome camera to a new location. It has 24 IR Led's. I moved it beneath an overhang overlooking the back yard. The problem is when the IR turns on it looks as if it is foggy outside and I can only see maybe 20feet in front of the camera. Could it be the IR reflecting back? The under color of the overhang is white and alot of it is in the camera's sight. Or maybe I have a bad wire going to my tv from the camera? What could this be?

Horizonal lines on TV screen
markpow replied to markpow's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
ok so here is what I did. I checked to see if it was a psu issue like you said so I took a 500 ma psu and switched it with the 1 amp one and the lines are now hardly visible. I guess the power line cant handle a 1 amp current. The lines are still there but they are barley noticeable now with the 500 ma psu. -
Horizonal lines on TV screen

the specs of the wire are: # 100 foot White Premade Siamese CCTV Cable with Power Wire # Coax Cable: 26AWG Mini-Coax with BNC Male Connectors # Power Wire: 22AWG with (1) 2.1mm x 5.5mm Female Power Jack and (1) 2.1mm x 5.5mm Male Power Plug The camera is using a 1 amp psu and yes it does have IR on it but the horizontal lines appear weather IR is on or off. -
Ended up being IR reflection, pointed the camera down a bit and now all is good. Thanks for the responses.
-
no, its not like that picture. It is more like a foggy imagine, like as if it was a foggy night which it was not. When it gets dark I will lower the angle of the camera and post my results. Thanks for all the responses. and also, I had no problem with a foggy imagine in the old location (no overhang in view) so the camera is good. My bet is also on the IR reflection.

I'm in the market for a new DVR and I want to go with H.264 compression. I found what looks to be a good deal from a US company on eBay that is called Wolfcom Enterprises. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=390096862979&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT The DVR also comes with a 500 GB HDD and all for $225. Has anyone ever dealt with wolfcom and their products and are they anygood? According to the feedback on ebay, people who bought this particular DVR have been leaving positive feedback and it looks like this DVR has good features according to the video they posted up. If not wolfcom, can someone suggest another DVR with similar features and cost? I will be using it to record on 1-2 cameras. motion detection and H.264

ok, thanks for clearing up all my questions.

ok, thanks scorpion, let me know anything you find about this DVR, i'll delaying buying it for now. And if I do end up buying it, is there a way to check if it is saving in H.264 compression onto the hard drive when I physically have it?
-
In response to scorpion, What do you mean not 100% h.264? so what your saying is that it saves onto its hard drive as MPEG4 and not as h.264? I don't understand. And are you talking about the AVC792 or the AVC791, the one on eBay that I wanted to purchase?

wow, it looks exactly the same... looks like they just got a bunch of avtech's and stamped their name on it.

I have two cameras in mind that i wish to add to my system. The specs of the first one are: • 1/3" Color Sony SUPER HDD CCD • 520 Tv Lines • 60 IR LED Night Vision 150 ft View • Watherproof IP67 • Lens: 3.6 mm • 0.8 Lux (led off) • Dimension 174X103X95 MM • 12VDC the specs of the second one are: • 1/3" Color Sony Super HAD CCD • 520 Tv Lines • 36 F8 IR LED Night Vision 150 ft View • Watherproof (IP67) • Lens: 8mm auto ires • 0.8 Lux (led off) • Vandal Proof • 12VDC power supply included Both of these cameras look identical in the seller's pictures and they both cost the same amount. Which one should I buy, 3.6mm or 8mm? I want the one that will give me the best overall picture. Whats the difference between just saying 60IR LED's and saying 36 F8 LED's?

I recently had an LTS LTD411M6 DVR and a LTS LTCMD665 camera with it but I decided to return both because the DVR was unreliable, it kept freezing up, and the camera picture at night was very snowy, I guess not enough IR power. No one could be identified at night. The camera was mounted on the second story under an overhang, about 20-25 feet from the ground. It was covering my whole front yard. I'm looking for a dvr with better quality resolution and a camera that can caught the front yard and not have a snowy picture. I have very little knowledge of CCTV systems but I want a affordable system with a good resolution night vision camera and a reliable DVR. maybe a H.264 one? Any suggestions appreciated. The DVR does not have to have a built in HDD as I have a 500GB one from the other DVR

SKU: ZMD-H9004UV-NHD Anyone know the quality of this dvr? Looks affordable is the resolution good enough to identify someone face clearly? also any recommendations on a camera?

DVR records constantly at night despite being set to motion
markpow posted a topic in General Digital Discussion
I have a LTS LTD411M6 DVR and I am using one LTS LTCMD665 camera with it. I have programmed the DVR so that it will record only when motion is detected 24 hours a day. During the day the system works perfectly and only records when motion is detected, but once it gets dark and the infrared on the camera kicks in, the DVR begins to record continuously despite it being set for a 24 hours motion detection. Why is the DVR recording continuously once the infrared on the camera turns on? It records continuously throughout the night starting once it is dark to about 7 in the morning. I did set it up for a sensor recording for 24 hours so the DVR is programmed to only record on motion and its says on the bottom of my t.v screen that it is set as sensor record (motion). Why is this happening? Also the camera that I have came with a 500ma power supply. In the manual it says minimum is 500ma, recommended is 1Amp. Would there be an advantage to getting the 1 amp power supply such as better picture or a longer IR range at night? Thanks -
DVR records constantly at night despite being set to motion

ok, I will do that later. Just looked in the manual of the camera and the s/N ratio says more than 52 dB. Is this a good number? as you can tell I'm a CCTV rockie -
DVR records constantly at night despite being set to motion
markpow replied to markpow's topic in General Digital Discussion
Yes, the screen is grainy and snowy when the IR Kicks in. How can I measure the Voltage drop? wait till night and then just get a voltmeter? If It is a voltage drop what can be done to correct the problem? The motion detection options on the DVR are pretty basic, just setting the area to be detected and then just setting the sensitivity levels from 1, 2, or 3. I tried all 3 levels and it still records constantly at night.
