Dahua Firmware update from PAL to NTSC DVR1604LE-AS
n0fx replied to n0fx's topic in Digital Video Recorders
You need to get the PAL firmware and flash the DVR, since your cameras are in the PAL format. I had the same problem but mine was NTSC coming from the cameras. I don't have the firmware for that one, so you'll have to ask your dealer or try to email dahua directly to get the file. I had NO LUCK getting a response back from Dahua via the form online. You might want to call them to get a response. -
Anyone try the Dahua IPC-HF3100 1.3MP IP box camera?
n0fx posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Has anyone tried or tested the Dahua IPC-HF3100 1.3MP IP box camera? I'm looking for a 1.3MP or 720P camera that I can use with a 1/3" CS mount lens. I want to use it with a 5-50mm lens, so that I can zoom up at a gate for a house. -

Do you have any sample images for the camera? What do you mean megapixel lens? Are they different than the standard lenses used with analog cameras? Sorry, i don't have image to show you. The megapixel camera can use standard lens used with analog camera. but we know analog camera maximum 700tvl right now, under the 1.0 megapixel quality. So if use standard lens with megapixel camera, you can not see real megapixel quality, but some customers accept, because it's cheap. Megapixel lens is special for megapixel camera, to get perfact and complete megapixel quality. Oh thanks. I did see that vendors online are selling "megapixel" type lenses, which is good to know. Do you have any recommendations for brands for lenses? -

Maybe your DVR is hosed after it exploded. If it formats fine with the computer, that means the HD is working fine. Might need to replace the DVR with another one.

Dahua Backup using USB/eSATA external hard drive limits
n0fx posted a topic in Digital Video Recorders
Has anyone had any experiences with backing up with Dahua's backup function on the DVR itself? I have a 32 channel that I'm trying to backup using MD (Motion detection) and all 32 channels but I seem to have a problem backing up more than 1024 events. When I go to backup and select type MD, all video channels, it just won't go past 1024 events or lines. The machine first adds all events it finds, then gives you the option to do a backup. I ran the backup on my external HD anyways but it only showed the first 1024 events and nothing else. Anyone know anything about this? It seems like the only way to bypass this is to use the network backup with a PC, where you can schedule automated backups but it's just so slow doing it that way. -
Dahua cameras now at Costco
n0fx replied to buellwinkle's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Looks like the cameras only aren't available on the website anymore. Did anyone get either of them it a local Costco? The only item available now is the combo set (on the website that is) -

How do you like the picture quality on the IP8332? -

Does anyone have the original Dahua FW? I can try flashing it with these Qsee if it takes it or not. I'm going to buy it at costco and give it a try. -
Vivotek IP8161 equivalent
n0fx replied to n0fx's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
No worries, I emailed the manufacture about it already. Waiting for a response. I'm really interested in these cameras, the pictures look great and price is good too! -
I'm thinking of getting the Vivotek IP8161 2MP box camera for a front gate that I need installed. I was going to equip it with the Vivotek AE2000 housing, so that it would at least get a picture during the night hours. It's going to be used to identify who is trying to enter the house. (about 10 feet away from the camera) I was wondering if you guys think that there is a better model from a different manufacture that might provide a better picture quality for less? I'm going to be hooking this camera up to the Nuuo Titan NVR. The ballpark range I want to spend is around $600 to $700 for the camera. I haven't used any other brand than Vivotek, so I'm not sure which is good. I've heard that the Arecont Vision's are slow in developing firmware for their cameras but other than that, I haven't heard anything else from any other manufacture.

If anyone needs the original program, I found it and uploaded to another file hosting company: hxxp://www.sendspace. com/file/9b6rhd (change hxxp to http and delete space after the period) -
Vivotek IP8161 equivalent
n0fx replied to n0fx's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Do you know if they work with the Nuuo Titan NVR? I can't seem to find any capability with the HFW3200 on the list. I have a project I'm trying to do that uses the Nuuo Titan with some Mobotix cams. I was first going to use Vivotek cams but the FD8134's FOV is way too small, so I went to look for another Vivotek series with a varifocial lens but it ended being 3 times as much. I figured maybe I can go with something else already at that price range ($600~$700) that might be better. -

Thank you so much for the link, I'll put that into consideration. I was reading about the Dahua IP cams but weren't too sure if they were good for the price. Are they cheaper than the Vivoteks or around the same ball park? -
Swann MyDVR software playback and downloads stopped working
n0fx replied to spikejackson's topic in Computers/Networking
Did you try installing the software on another computer in the same network to see if it works or not? Maybe update the firmware on the machine. Just giving you generic advice, I've never used this machine before. -
Most Cost Affective IP Cameras Under $300

Do you happen to have that link for that discussion? I'm just wondering if it's just for particular Dahua models or all of them? -
Looking to buy Messoa NCB855
n0fx replied to alienden's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Do you happen to have any samples for your IP8161? I'm thinking of installing one but wasn't sure how well it worked. -
Do you have any footage of it at night with the IRs? I'm thinking about getting the same cameras but I want to know how well they work at night.

I'm thinking of installing some CNB BBM-24F cameras and the dealer I buy from carries only Fujinon branded lenses. What do you guys think are good quality branded lenses? I have another company selling Tamaron but I wasn't sure if they are great either. I'm using a 1/3" sensor, so I'll need one that works with that size. I don't really care if I can buy it locally or online but I want a lens that's good quality.

If the computer is analog, recording by NVR still possible? Wouldn't I need a video encoder to convert to IP before I can use a NVR to record the stream?

Rory, I installed the scheduled backup software (from your site) on a desktop on the network (10/100mbit). When I set the schedule to download from the DVR, it takes an enormous amount of space. (one camera can easily take a few GB) The DVR is a 32 channel and I'm trying to backup the footage for a day. The software seems to be pulling the raw video from the machine over the network and saving it on the hard drive. I was trying to backup an entire months worth of video but it's going to be huge. Is there any way to download the video from the dahua machine compressed or is that my only option? The reason why I'm doing it is because I want to archive footage for a year or so and when the machine recycles, I'm going to be losing footage when the machine overwrites the old stuff.

Dahua Firmware update from PAL to NTSC DVR1604LE-AS
n0fx replied to n0fx's topic in Digital Video Recorders
For anyone else that needs this file, I got it from the supplier direct. Dahua's website doesn't have it for download and their support is a joke. Converts the PAL video option to NTSC. Download: http://www.sendspace.com/file/q50h3c -
Thanks, I'll try to find some sample footage from them

I know that the CNB cameras with monalisa work great for low light environments (greatly priced and such) but what do you guys recommend for areas that are total pitch black? From researching in the forums, it sounds like the CNB IR cameras really stink and aren't really suggested. I'm tried of getting the cheap chinese branded ones (no branded) units and I want a brand name one that works great. I'm trying to install some cameras for a house in the hallways and garage area where there will be no light at all. The owner wants to be able to see a picture at all times (day or night). I explained to him that the picture (with IRs) will be black & white, somewhat grainy and while getting a true DN camera would provide a more vibrant colorful picture compared to having an IR enabled one but requires some type of light in the area. Do you guys know any good recommendation for cameras? There is really no set budget for the camera and I can go either analog or IP cameras. (possibly $200 to $400 per camera)

Has anyone else tried these Gadspot cameras before? I've never heard of them till today.
