I have several Dahua DVR's configured to use 192.168.100.0 subnet something like this: DVR1 192.168.100.101 DVR2 192.168.100.102 DVR3 192.168.100.103 DVR4 192.168.100.104 I now need to add an Dahua NVR I dont want the IP camera's to be on the same subnet (not enough IP's available), I would rather have them use 192.168.101.0 subnet. There is only 1 network card in the NVR so I am guessing I need to configure that as 192.168.100.105. Do I need a router between the Camera's Switch and NVR? then create a VLAN perhaps? What is a recommended network configuration for something like this? it must be a common issue. Thanks!

making a Lorex HD-IP camera wireless
CCCmarine posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Anyone have any success connecting a Lorex HD-IP to a PicoStation in Bridge Mode? or using any other equipment to make a Lorex HD-IP camera wireless ? -
Can anyone recommend a hosting company for streaming video? Basically I want my ip cam video stream to route to a hosting service where it most likely will be re-coded then served so it can be viewed by many client browsers. I realize most cams have the ability to stream to a few connections but I will have a much larger viewing audience, plus I want the ability to protect my video stream so no one can simply put it on their own website. Thanks.

NEED HELP DESIGNING SYSTEM FOR CASINO

@vector18 Where do you buy your dahua cameras? -
Looking for a camera or video server that has built in functionality that would allow me to upload a JPEG to an FTP site every minute or so? The scenerio: Camera & Ubiquiti Bullet at remote location running on battery/solar array. I want to upload a JPEG every few minutes to an FTP site. The viewing of the image I will handle on the server no problem. Depending on bandwidth available I may want to add the actual video stream. Is it possible to stream and grab frames as well? Thanks!

what is a good NVR software
CCCmarine replied to lechols155's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Since I dont have experience with any NVR software what are some of the great features that put systems like Aviglon etal above and beyond the little guys? It seems like NVR's dont do any of the heavy lifting like encoding and are essentially management software running on a server. Assuming hardware available can handle the required throughput what am I looking for that makes NVR software superior? Hardware aside it seems like it all comes down to management features and pricing structure. I have a customer running all analogue, total of 64 shots over 4 legacy Everfocus DVR's. 2 of the DVR's fail intermittently so we are looking to replace or upgrade. The recorded video is useless at 1 CIF 5 frames. I realize going to a more robust DVR I could get 4CIF but its seems like that money may be better spent on an NVR with encoders and a few MP cams initially. I realize there will be other costs like switches, POE, POE extenders etc. This is where It seems like the high end NVR (software only) may be overkill. The above customer in particular is ultimately only interested in archiving usable video (min 4CIF) and simple and fast method of searching through archives. I guess I am looking to understand what makes an NVR system a better system? -
What does this do exactly. I cannot find any information on the specifics in any of their manuals. From the manual: MOTION DELAY: Select motion delay time from 0~7 level

Is this the Illuminator you guys are discussing? I like the LED array, I have a 900 lumen bike light with an LED array, its amazing for the price.

I am working on an existing analog cctv system with 8 camera's currently connected to an EverFocus EDVR16D1. See attached pic for the layout (i cant post urls yet). I need to connect up to 9 more camera's between the farthest Junction box and Tower. There are 9 RG6U runs between the farthest Jbox and Tower. Only 2 runs between the Tower and House where the DVR is located. What type of options do I have for getting the signal to the DVR over 2 RG6U runs? Other than trenching and running more cable is there an IP solution I could use and build a network from the tower out. Is there some type of 9 port decoder available that would get me back to analog for connection back into the EverFocus.? I am very familair with TCPIP networking and structured cabling but somewhat newer to CCTV. Also, would the ~600ft run be an issue with RG6U and analog camera's? Looking for options, thanks!

I need finding a good outdoor bullet cam with IR's
CCCmarine replied to gunthonungo2's topic in Security Cameras
Are the VCM-24VF IR compliant? Not sure if thats the correct term but if I use an external IR emitter will the VCM-24VF be able to benefit? What is the correct term or spec for that? Thats an impressive looking cam for the price! -
What do you do with your DVR BNC pigtail cables?
CCCmarine replied to rory's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
I just went through this and was thinking the same. The cost of a BNC patch panel with all those barrels, just not worth it and still clunky. I think going into a box, tape them up and close it up is the best. It sucks having to clip away all that tidy work just to get to a single cable. -
I thought that may end up being the answer. I like having one less splice and failure point so Ive been going balun on back of camera and just be sure to secure the wiring well. Thanks again!
-
Whats your preferred method of wiring cat5/6 to a indoor box camera with no enclosure? Do you run the UTP directly to the camera with a balun off the back or a length of rg59 to the closest junction box and leave the balun in there? In my case the camera's are hanging just off the J box. Additionally do you like to leave a loop of wire out of the box to the camera or just short, clean and direct, leaving a little extra in the J box? Thanks!

Thanks, great info!

Im curious on this one as well........below is the camera we are using Pelco CCC1370 From the power Supply 24VAC & COM is two combined pair going to the 24VAC on the camera. Balun uses one pair to each BNC connector. What am I supposed to be running to the GRND ? Should I use the combined brown to a ground in the power supply? I thought I had this figured out until I came across this thread.... I am using these baluns: http://www.digimerge.com/video-balun-p-160.html Thanks..

I measured without load, I will try with load as see the results. Great info, thanks again!

I replaced several camera's and the current power supply is a 28vac. The runs are not that long and have ~27.5vac to them. The new camera's are rated at 12vdc/24vac. Camera manufacturer states camera's life will be shorter under that voltage. Is using a resistor an option? If so what am I looking for? Thanks!
-
Thanks all for the input...I think I am opting for replacing the supply. Are those Pelco MCS series worth it or is Altronix the way to go? I like the 24 / 28 option on the Pelco but the enclosures are huge.

Can any DVR handle 15-30 simultaneous network based viewers? Our building owner wants the tenants to be able to view the camera's via internet. I tried explaining the challenges. Looking at the Everfocus EPARA16D3, they claim up to 10 users. What might be some alternatives to accomplish this? I was thinking as an alternative we could modulate the call monitor and broadcast out (how I dont know), we have no coax in the building. Thanks!

Ive been having problems with an IR Bullet cam that sits under a roof overhang just below a copper gutter. The camera works fine during the day but the IR does not kick in at night. At first I thought it was some kind of interference from the gutter. I tested the light ok but using a different power supply. Could it be voltage related? Power comes from wall plug type supply 12v DC. Its about 60-80 ft run on stranded 18gauge. Camera is Rainbow BCVF4WDIR (http://www.rainbowcctv.com/cameras/bcvf4wdir.html) How could I verify that? Another question would be is it better to 24/28VAC on longer runs compared to 12VDC? Thanks!
-
Thanks Soundy. Its was dead on 12V when I tested. Problem ended up being a 500Ma power supply, I replaced with a 12VDC 1amp and all was good. I want to change the whole install to use a centralized power supply with fuses. I hate the bank of wall plugs not to mention the heat it puts out. So other question, on longer runs, in the 500-800 ft range is it better to use AC?

Looking for some advice on camera layout. We will probably only have a budget initially for the 1-4 camera's but I was playing with the location of the 5-8. Whats the best way to orient the camera's to cover that path? Night vision will be key as we have had some tagger issues in the 2-4 camera area. Any suggestion on camera's as well? Budget allows for about $300-$350 per cam (4 total). Thanks!
-
I agree. I have explained it throughly and they seem to be understanding the situation. Initially the funds need to go into getting the copper in the ground for current and future drops. The DVR is located near the entrance so it ends up being a longer run which as you know equals more $$. Im just glad I was able to talk them into a 8 ch rather than 4ch DVR and NOT use QC junk. The problem area is the path near 2,3 mostly as it backs to a park. The 5,6,7,8 area has not really been a problem. The side near the canal has some serious razor wire so it seems to be doing its job. Thanks!

I need to replace a camera but cannot change its location. I need to re-focus to a outdoor courtyard area approx 20wide and 280ft away. The camera is located about 30ft high currently. What would a good lens be for this? I was thinking the Pentax C31219 12.5mm to 75mm would do the trick?. How about camera mating options? Thanks!
