  1. anybody? common there has to be some Geovision distributors in here.. I need prices on the GV-250 AND the GV-600... PM me..
  2. why is it two cameras?
  3. yeah great camera if you have $1200 US to spend... plus what are the CCD chips used in that camera?
  4. rory.. what are you talking about? the Geovision Multiview software? the BlueNet software? what?
  5. I see, but it isn't eating up your bandwidth ALL DAY LONG right if NOBODY is viewing your cam over the internet? bandwidth is only used while viewing right?
  6. What's the newest? the best? what are the advantages of one over the other? what is more powerful that will let you camera see further in the dark? are these the only 2 types of IR's used in CCTV cameras? I ask all of this because I am looking at different cameras and some state they have "The new 920NM IR's" and others say they have the 850nm IR's. I am clueless to what this means, and what NM even stands for and what it represents. So it's hard for me to make a judgement of what is the best for me. Thanks guys.. you all have been a HUGE help in your unbiased opinions..

    Geovision webcam window

okay so even if the video is being recorded or viewed locally by you at 16 FPS, you are saying that I may only be able to see the video over the internet at: 6 FPS? What speed is the software indicating to me.. the speed I am seeing the streamed video at? or the speed at which you are locally viewing and recording the video at?

hey Steve, thanks for recording stuff, yes you can send me the links through PM. So you are saying that the FASTEST possible FPS rate through the internet is like 6fps? Even with like a T1 connection you don't think you can get more than 6 FPS??
  9. yeah what FPS speed do you think that video is streaming through the internet at? and what refresh rate are you talking about? the page doesn't refresh does it? I only thought the video was termed as "Frames Per Second" maybe there is two different numbers I have to worry about with web viewing of these cameras?
  10. really never burns out? I hear people saying that these day/night cams the leds go like every 5 years or so on them..

    Magic Radar DVR Card

okay thanks for the reply. YOu said there are drawbacks to the Geovision cards, can you let me know what these are? I just like to have all information going into a purchase. And could you tell me, what FPS speed do you use to stream video over the internet? what is the highest over the internet?

Can I mount a camera on a telephone pole?

but will they fine you? are you breaking any laws by doing this? do you think you can get a written agreement from the phone company stating that you are allowed to put a camera up on their pole and nobody will take it down or bother you? who owns the polls by the way.. the phone company, the electric company, or the cable company?

    Magic Radar DVR Card

I'm sure you have seen many different cards and software right??? abotu how many? would you say that Geovision currently has the BEST software and some of the best cards as well? or do you think the actual quality of the cards and performance of the cards is lacking but the software is just so good that it makes up for it? I am still worried that this GV-250 might not pack enough punch for me.. I only need for one camera now, but probably will do 2-3 camers in the future. But what worries me is that I won't even be able to view ONE camera at full speed of 30 fps NTSC. How will I ever know what the camera REALLY looks like if I can't view it at 30fps?
  14. hey check this out.. this is that camera I linked to above which I think I am going to get. This is a live demo page of this camera. Check out the underwater camera, it's the EXCDN12 sitting inside the fishtank under water. I think it's really really good looking picture.. you guys agree? http://www.intellicamspy.com/remote_demo_page.htm
  15. well the thing I noticed is that it comes with a 6mm lens... is this bad? should I get a 3.6mm lens instead? I would like as wide a range of view as possible? The other thing I am confused about with this camera is it says that it is the Sony EXview SuperHAD ccd which I know for color is a .05 lux rating, but then it says it has a sensor to sense when it is night time, and when that is triggered the camera goes to black and white and the IR's turn on. Now tell me WHEN the camera switches to black and white at night, does that mean it now goes down to a .0003 LUX rating regardless of the IR's. Like if you pretended all the IR's were burned out and they didn't work, when the camera switches to black and white, is it now at .0003 lux? because that is the specifications fo rth eSony EXview black and white cameras... I am just confused how the camera can switch from color to black and white.. is there 2 seperate CCD's in there or something? The reason I ask all of this is because I am concerned that IF or maybe WHEN the IR's burn out, will the camera still see in the very dim starlight night. I keep hearing that the Sony EXview Black and White at a .0003 lux CAN see in starlight very good, but I don't know IF this camera will turn into a .0003 lux when it is in black and white mode or not. Here is the link to the camera I am talking about.. it's the top one, the EXCDN12 http://www.intellicamspy.com/day_night.htm

yeah Steve that would be AWESOME, if maybe you can give me the FULL 20 fps NTSC example then give me that split in half at like 10 FPS NTSC, and IF possible could you even go a bit further and give me a 5 FPS NTSC so I could see what it would look like IF I do put 4 cameras to it... Now can you also clarify something, you said that ONLY when the cameras are recording the FPS is utilized. Well does that mean that the cameras are still turned on and watching ALL-DAY-LONG.. all of the cameras? Or does that mean as soon as you turn a camera on whether it is recording or not, it is still using the FPS? To tell you the truth, I am probably going to only record motion when detected, BUT I may have 2 or 3 cameras hooked up at the same time, and I may want to view all of those cameras at once either locally or remotely through the internet. If I am viewing the cameras and NOT recording, is that still using FPS off the card? so for instance 2 cameras are being viewed over the internet, BUT NOT being recorded, am I still using 10 FPS per Camera to just view?

    Magic Radar DVR Card

why are you guys considering dumping Geovision cards if you claim their cards and software are so good?

    Geovision webcam window

Yeah I compared the Geovision software and web viewing to the Alnet software. This is what I thought.. The Geovision seems to have more features. The Alnet looks a little more professional IF you have more than 4 cameras, but for what I am doing I am probably not going to be using more than 4 cameras ever. The Alnet DIDN'T have web viewing UNLESS you download the program and install it. This is probably the single most drawback for me because the main reason I am getting CCTV is to view it remotely over the web. So it is imperative to be able to go to a website and just download the auto Applet or whatever and be able to view the cams. Many remote computers if they are not ours do not allow you to install software on the computer, so this web browsing feature is very important to me. All in all, I did like the Geovision, but I am just concerned that the GV-250 will be too slow for me at 20fps... what do you guys think? right now I only have 1 cam but plan on expanding up to about 3 or 4 cams and don't know if this card will handle it? The next thing I was wondering is, what is the FASTEST you can stream video online? I have NEVER came across a viewer where the video looks like it is 30fps, it always looks much slower than real motion. What is the MOST FPS that you can do through the internet? Since this is my main use to stream online, then this might decide what card I go with... Is anybody here a distributor for Geovision? If so, could you give me your BEST prices on the GV-250 and the GV-600.. please just PM me with those prices. I live in New Jersey at zip code: 07438 so let me know what shipping would be too. Thanks
  20. no most all DVRs/Muxes, etc, split it up, its the current technology. As you add more cameras, it gets less per camera. yes so you are saying that if in total the card only puts out 20fps if I have 4 cameras hooked up I am ONLY looking at 5fps... OUCH...
  21. I live in New Jersey. Right now I need to decide on what type of card to get... Looking at the Geovision GV-250 card, it only says that it does 20 frames per second NTSC. Now tell me, is that really only 20fps or is it 30fps? I thought the LOWEST these card chips could give you is 30fps NTSC??

so you guys seem to really know your stuff with these cards, if you were on a $200 budjet for a card, what card would you go with and why?

what is pico2000? is that software? hardware? what makes it so bad compared to Geovision?
  24. well I have seen some of their cameras that they have online through the BlueNet viewer and the cameras look very very good to me..
  25. what are you a distributor for? what is the best possible price you can get me a Geovision GV-250 card for? email me at: djmixerman@hotmail.com with the price other question... I talked to this guy from a CCTV dealership and he told me that BNC capture cards for CCTV are junk and will make your camera image look way worse than what it would like like on a stand-alone DVR system or even on the televsion. Is this true?
