    DVR's

Agreed, lets get back to the thread subject. It all depends, like I said before. What application? What kind, PC/Embedded? Resolution? Compression? Channels needed? Features/Functions Needed? etc.

    geovison pos

As long as its putting out Ascii or Ansi, all you will need is a serial cable if your running from MSPOS PC to DVR PC. If your putting the card in the MS POS PC than you may have to do a little config..I'll wait until you answer collinsr question.

    DVR's

KrCCTV, "Premier Korean CCTV products Manufacturer" So which one of your products do you manufacture?? I can find everyone of your Products as well on Ali or Global Sources. I understand where your coming from but, see if you can buy any of ICR's DVRs from anywhere other than ICR. NOT POSSIBLE. I think those are pretty good grounds for claiming "Manufacturer". [i'm well aware that getting this info takes two mins. But I want to make this perfectly clear. DO NOT post other people's contact info. Simply pointing out the site is registered in the US is enough. -Thomas]

    DVR's

Too broad of a question. Please be more specific or your going to get 50 different answers. What application? What kind, PC/Embedded? Resolution? Compression? Channels needed? etc. The more the better.
  7. 1. It only searches for motion if it's setup to record motion. Go to SETUP click on RECORDING select ALL cams from top, and click continuous recording. 2. Yes you can output to either Mpeg4, Jpeg, AVI, or .DVR(Mpeg4 advanced). This is done through the backup feature. When it asks to NAME FILE click the drop down at the bottom and select video format output. 3. If you are referring to Motion Detection, YES. Under RECORDING section of setup menu you will see a motion det. section. It basically keeps the whole screen a detectable area. You can use the MASK or SHIELD. Mask will keep the selected area un-detectable. SHIELD will put a black box over the video area selected. This area will be recorded with the box, and that selected area will not be detected. There is also a Motion Sensitivity setting on the left 0-100. 4. We setup our systems default to 65. This is usually a good setting, but it all depends on your preferences. You should use Audio Detection recording. Nice new feature that came out with 5.5. You will have to get a Audio Extension card and a mic. No problem. Glad to help.
  8. What kind of questions do you have? I would be glad to help.
  9. You should definately consider it CollinsR. They have come along way and make some incredible DVR cards now.

    cat5 - bnc???

According to Unit979, this system is using a 6Pin Din connector. So basically he needs to find out the Manu, and get some pig-tails.
  11. Well, the best way to do this is (only way): -Go into your setup menu -Select User -Click edit on ADMIN -Leave your password blank As of now this is the only way to keep from entering the password so much. As admin, you should only have to enter it when entering the setup menu or minimizing or exiting. thanks,
  12. Well, let me know if you have any questions about your new Geo-Killer

    Best dome cam under $150?

Here is the ICR-200 Black version of this camera with the Blue IR's I think both of you already have the pricing. As of now ICR only carries the fixed 3.6mm lens version. But, the lens can be exchanged for 6, 8, 12mm. Security Monster, I beleive they are different, this one is 1/3" Sony Super HAD, 480Lines. And sorry for the huge pic everyone.

    cat5 - bnc???

I second that: Any cameras that are prewired with cheap Cat-5 or RJ-11 are bad. Wal-mart, costco, sam's club all sell similar systems. Do the cameras have a RJ-45 or RJ-11 plug? Do they have additional inputs (RCA or BNC)?
  15. I just checked Avermedia's site and they do have 5.5 on there. Click on application software to download 5.5. http://www.aver.com/2005home/support/downloads/faq_nv1000nv3000nv5000.shtml Make sure you uninstall 5.1 if you have installed it already. I would also suggest you read the FAQ's as well. Thanks.
  16. 5.1 Should be OK to use. There is not much difference between the 2 except IP cam support and a few other features that you will probably never use. If you want you can visit our site and download the software from there. Release Notes: http://www.ilinksurveillance.com/downloads/NV5.5releasenotes.pdf Software Version 5.5 http://www.ilinksurveillance.com/downloads/NDVRDSS550035.zip Thanks,

Best place to purchase a Geovision card ???

Visit: http://www.geovision.com.tw/english/7_0.asp to find authorized dealers. Remember, if it is too cheap to believe its probably fake so I would stick to someone on this list. But, again it all depends on where you are located.
  18. The NV5000 should give you very good results with any 420TVL, 1/3" Sony camera. Set it up at 640x480 and Mpeg-4 compression. Going from some off brand knock-off card to this DVR card will definately improve performance and quality. What is your PC hardware setup for the DVR card? If you want to see a demo of the NV5000 in action please visit: http://www.ilinksurveillance.com/html/demo1.html and select the first demo link. All of the cameras are 420TVL, 1/3" Sony's except channels 1, 5, 10.
  19. There are definitely some sub $100.00($95-$99 ) cameras that are very good. If your looking for an IR bullet type cam like sec. monst. posted, you should be able to find a decent one. Oh, and props for getting the Aver NV5000. Awesome DVR card, you will be very very satisfied. Make sure though you are using the new Version 5.5 software. Are you going to be using that card for 4 channels @120fps or 8 @15fps.
  20. I am in need of a IR illuminator for LPR. Camera is a Full Body 1/3" Sony, 420TVL. Camera is in a housing 15ft off the ground about 65-75 feet from where the entrance to this place is and where it is aimed now. I can get this one at a really good price. Anyone have any experiences with these? How do the specs look? GS-6400 IL 1/4" COLOR INFRARED ILLUMINATOR 60 LED / 45 degree Transmission Angle 12 vdc / 600 mA (Auto-On/Off at 20 Lux) Includes: Extension Pigtails with M/F Connectors, Transformer and Wall-Ceiling Mounting Bracket Am I just going to waste my time with something like this. Should I just use Extreme Ill's. Here is the www link: http://www.goldenstateinst.com/cameras.html Dont know if this helps but here is a shot from that cam:

    Installing DVR in a safe

Yea your right collins. Good air circulation is needed no matter what you're going to use. The AC unit would probably end up frying out. Gotta vent, one in one out like collins said. Hey Phoenix, could you give us a link or specs on the safe? Oh, and if your going PC based DVR route try to use SATA HDD's
  22. kandcorp

    Here's another one

Here is their buy direct website: http://store.espymall.com/index.html I received dealer pricing from them about 3 months ago. Wasn't really impressed.

    Installing DVR in a safe

Get one of these: http://www.xoxide.com/nexthermcase.html Build your PC Based DVR w/ minumum Hardware requirements to keep it as cool as possible. Maybe build around an AMD CPU. Either use an external HDD in a cooled enclosure or get one of these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835888209 Or maybe if it's in your budget go water cooled!!

    New Guy Question

What is the camera mounted on? What's the voltage of camera? Is it being powered from the same source as DVR? Lastely, have you tried different ports of the DVR, and are they working OK?
