kandcorp replied to sf1964's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Yea, price watch is OK, but you must be careful. There are a lot of refurb products from unknown suppliers. I dont use them anymore. Newegg all the way,, Plus they take PAYPAL and shipping is usually cheap and fast. -

NEWEGG is where I get everything Check out the HDD home page for the deals: http://www.newegg.com/ProductSort/Category.asp?Category=15 -
I dont know, it sounds like everything is properly connected. What about when you only hold the BNC that is connected to the GEO and your other hand is not touching the other end. Still Shocking? Maybe the GEO card is touching something its not supposed to be. The I/O plate perhaps.

Do you have your B-Tron green lead connected to an Earth Ground?
-
Are you using a custom built PC? If so, do you think there is a grounding issue with maybe the motherboard or DVR card? Just thinking of all the possibilities. And 3 power cords?? From the box to the cam??

Dont think that Toshiba is going to cut it, depending how dark it gets. Plus how good of a special is ADI running. If its going to be a day/night app I would probably get a 1/3" Sony Ex-View Sensor.
-
When you do plug in the BNC to the GEO, do you get video? Also, I would just call B-Tron and ask about the power wires if they were already in the box when you purchased. The distance of the cable does not matter. As long as the cable was made correctly. What kind of cams are you using..Are they 12VoltDC?

Avermedia + IP Camera

Yea the stand alone has been a big seller. Very Stable, pretty much featureless. But, for a entry level "set it and forget it" DVR it does the job. Haven't had one problem yet. I am going to see if I can get someone to focus cam 1 and 2. Nobody takes any pride in there online demos anymore. -
Yea it will work, but like most stand-alones the VGA out will produce a bad picture. Does the CRT have an S-Vid input?

Anyone using Avermedia cards& software
kandcorp replied to baywatch's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
NO, not if you know what your doing. With the proper hardware/software setup and the proper windows settings (services, processes, software etc.) they can be the most reliable, stable DVR's. Its all a misconceived perception because people dont know what they're doing. -

Please look at this: http://www.aver.com/2005home/product/dvr/nveyescomparison.pdf All the cards can achieve there FPPS potential at 352x240 and 640x480. But, when you set DVR to 720x480 on the 7000 card your max frame rate with 4 cards(16ch.) is 120FPS. The new 6000 card supposedly can achieve the 480FPS@720x480 depending on CPU. Same with the 3000 and 5000 on 720x480 can be achieved depending on CPU. Now we havn't tested this but, I sure would like to know what it takes to achieve that. If your looking for that kind of performance why not go Stand-Alone. -

Color isn't off... If you download the remote console, and log in as admin you can change settings. You can right click the screen and turn the quality to high. Also, turn direct draw on. I am getting 7.5fps here on the LAN and have no problem from home when I connect. Try using remote console. Second button up on the right (the one with the remot on it) -

Yes, you would only use 1 5000 card which has 4 inputs(120FPS Total). The cards only have 4 inputs on them. If you plan to expand you either use a video extension card or get a full 5000 card to higher fps. This would give you a realtime 8 channel system. 240FPS total. Here is a breakdown of the systems we build: FPS/Ch./Cards/Vid Ext. 30/ 4/ 1x3000/ none 60/ 8/ 2x3000/ none 120/ 12/ 1x5000/ 2xExt. 120/ 16/ 1x5000/ 3xExt. 120/ 4/ 1x5000/ none 120/ 8/ 1x5000/ 1xExt. 240/ 8/ 2x5000/ none 240/ 16/ 2x5000/ 2xExt. 480/ 16/ 4x7000/ none (16 ch. Audio included) The Hybrid 6000 card will be released soon. It is similar to the GEO Combo cards. Only One card, 16 channels Vid, 8 Channels Audio, 240FPS or 480FPS, no extensions. -

Hey Spy, A lot has changed since 1 1/2 years ago. It is better than GEO now. The remote view especially. Visit www.cctvbuyers.com/demo and click on the first link. This is only a 120FPS 16 channel. Make sure to right click the Screen and change vid quality to high. Also, if you have a decent vid card, turn direct draw ON (Bottom Left). You can also download the remote console from there and use that. -

Either IE or the remote software. And yes, an Active X is required the first time you connect. -
Avermedia + IP Camera

We currently have tested a 16 Channel Avermedia Card connected to 4 different IP cameras from 4 different locations. Basically we have mapped channel 1-4 with their proper IP addresses and passwords(IP CAMS). On top of that channels 5-8 are from 4 other Aver DVR locations. Channels 9-16 are local cameras here at the office. So basically, standing in front of the DVR you are looking at 8 remote locations and 1 local. Pretty impressive stuff. These Aver cards are really performing as they should. No glitches, no problems. -
What are you doing in the FL area?

Replacing one right now with another DVR. The DVR has nothing wrong with it customer is not satisfied with the quality remotely or locally. For wavelet the recorded video is not up to par. I think there arre better DVR's for the $.
