Hello and welcome to the forums. I have heard good things about the PowerTelecomm PDVR-8100. It is a realtime machine which is a plus. If you are concerned with remote access though I would reconsider DVR choices. GO with a Mpeg-4 or H.264 compression DVR. The M-Jpeg doesn't stream as well as the other would but it all depends on your needs for online viewing. Have you considered a PC Based DVR? They will get you everything you need plus packed with a lot more features, and ability to upgrade in the future.

NO not really...not for that price. You need something like Mace's Cam53CIR..They work great at night, 1/3 sony sensor, 470TVL, 3.6mm Lens, 50ft IR range, built in mic...Overall a good camera especially for night viewing. What is your budget for the new camera..under $200.00?? I would also try to stay away from EBAY.. -

If you are going to buy 2 more IR Ill. you might as well just buy one new camera that will do the job without all the extra IR ill. There are plenty of inexpensive IR Bullet cameras that will illuminate the hell out of that whole area and still give you a nice picture. -
Yea it does look better. But, the glass covering the lens and the IR's is Flat. There should be no way that the IR is reflecting back into the lens. That was the so called "Brilliant" design of those cameras.

Do you have a DVR already or do you have one in mind?? Will you be utilizing seperate cameras after detection is triggered or do you want a PIR/Cam?

No prob SAL. Hey, have you used that DVR before?

the VDC-D1184VA ??
-
yea there from china. I know exactly where they come from..
-
Or you can do that...though they are a pain to open. I dont know if they are like the Cam67CIR's I know they have changed the 68 to a different manufact. Best way to do it is use 2 mini phillips screwdrivers. Put them in the shape of a cross and stick them in to the 2 holes on the front cover of the dome. Twist counter clock.

Cover all the IR's with Black Electrical tape. Keep the IR sensor exposed..It should still give you a decent nightime picture. Seriously..try it.

I knew once I looked at it. A lot of companies OEM that DVR and put their names on it. But, the origianl Manufacture is Hikvision/Vendoma. For support. You should visit vendoma's website. They have a live chat that is very helpful. www.vendoma.com

OK, so I just got the H.264 player directly from the manufacturer (vendoma, Hikvision). This should work...and if not well the file is corrupt. Here is the link: http://www.vendoma.com/software/pccom/H264Player.zip

Winamp should have worked. Most likely a problem with the file. Is there any way you could email me the files. If so PM me.. Thanks.
-
Try using Winamp. It is supposed to be compatible with h.264 video files. Or else try to update your quicktime Player.

Interesting.....We have had yet to have any problems with distorted or glitchy playback. What Hard Drives you using??
